Conversation with a Romney Staffer

On Saturday I met my friend's sister, who was a full-time, paid member of the Mitt Romney 2012 presidential campaign. I was introduced to her as "someone else who works in politics," though I haven't worked professionally in politics for some time.

I started by asking her whether she saw the Obama win coming. She said she was totally blindsided, had no idea it could happen. She said her and everyone else working for Team Romney thought he had it in the bag. I asked her if she followed InTrade to see how professional oddsmakers viewed the contest. She had never heard of the website. I asked what she thought of all of the fraud that occurred in the primaries and caucuses that benefitted Romney. She said she never knew of such a thing. In fact, I don't think she believed any of it when I told her. I told her that even if she didn't believe my claims of fraud in Maine, Louisiana, Missouri, and other states (where it was all captured on video and posted on YouTube) that she had to have seen it at the Republican National Convention. After all, she worked at the convention, so how could she not have known about it. She said she attended every minute of the convention, but wasn't aware that Romney and Priebus threw out a lot of Paul's delegates around the country. She also wasn't aware of the fact that Paul was nominated from the floor or that the party changed the rules so that they can nominate whoever they want, regardless of the wishes of the actual party members.

Friends, I think this is typical of the type of Republicans who supported Romney. She was a paid campaign worker and apparently followed politics. She could not have been more clueless about anything that occurred during the primaries or the general. She's also completely out of the loop on the post-election purging of libertarians and real conservatives from the party. Just thought you'd like to know why so many in the party think WE ARE THE CRAZY ONES--they have no clue what's actually going on out there; no clue what party leadership is doing and what they're supporting by default when they blindly follow them.

Zombe voters and followers is exactlty what the 2 party

Rothschild crime bankgangster controled system requires and there are always plenty of zombies that will say or do anythiing for a false debt slave FRN.

Its one discusting puppet show, evil entertainment made to distract the audience refered to as voters, tax payers, citizens, goyem, eaters, sheeple, etc.

While the zombie voters cheer and praise their puppet on the political stage the Criminal bankgangsters send agents out to lie cheat steal and murder the audience.

Not a show worth watching, enlightened disengagement is my final answer.

It truly gets surreal

I have this tendency I imagine might be shared by someone out there, perhaps it's latent Christianity and it's to doubt or second guess my self or even try to figure out if I might somehow be at fault here. Like reality check here: maybe I'm the one that's crazy and not the world. Maybe I see everything through jaded eyes. We have to be making this up. Because me or us being completely 100% WRONG ABOUT EVERYTHING is frankly a lot less scary that us being right.

Ever notice that if and when we are wrong this is like REALLY GOOD NEWS FOR HUMANITY? I mean wouldn't it be awesome if we were all just completely wrong? Uh hey sorry guys, I think we got a bit freaked out there for a while, kinda left the track but it's ok, we see things clearer now, no big deal.

If only it was as simple as me being wrong. All I'd have to do is admit it, make confession and repent. Problem solved! Would that be easier than this relentless daily parade of bad news? There are times when I would give anything, anything at all to be wrong.

Know something? And I hope this doesn't sound like total despair, it's close but not quite but I really kinda doubt we'll ever get the world the way we want it. This nation, if we got things the way we want them, about half of the people probably wouldn't like it. Maybe some would but about half this nation just loves their nanny state. Is it liberty if we have to drag people to it kicking and screaming?

Well so far and quite suddenly at the very least we have become some sort of balancing agent. I think in the future we will continue to have impact. But it's kinda hard to measure success. You don't get credit for making things NOT happen.

Net time somebody calls you crazy tell them if you are then they should shout for joy and bless their lucky stars cause that ain't nothin but good news.

Interesting

Even the most vocal supporters for Romney on this site still knew he was in serious trouble.

spoken like a democrat

i was paying so little mind to the handful of romney hardcores that i barely picked up any. not any person with a long history here is a 'true believer' in romney. takes a partisan to spot a partisan though, says you have been playing the obama game all along. grats your guy got elected, but we took no part in it. romney lost by less than all the ron paul votes during primaries in each state, meaning we kept our good promise and stayed out, while people like you will have blood on your hands. if not for spirit of speech, i would call for a purge

if anyone has blood on there hands

Its all the Johnson bashers that came out on this site before the election.

Hold on a minute!

Didnt vote for Obamma voted for Johnson. Yes I did tout O over Romney but when I realized that Romney couldnt win I voted for Johnson. I even recorded on the DP somewhere that I decided to vote for Johnson. Look it up If you dont believe me.

Don't give her too much grief, but DO congratulate her on her efforts to re-elect President Romneycare.

Can't say I'm surprised.

I'm sure she witnessed all of it first hand. However, the conscious part of her brain wouldn't allow her to process anything negative against a campaign she was so closely tied to.

If men are good, you don't need government; if men are evil or ambivalent, you don't dare have one.

She probably knew even less

She probably knew even less about foreign policy, law, and economics. Maybe a little bit about the "Ryan Budget" lol, it seems like Tax policy is the last issue allowed to be debated and studied in Washington.

i am not sure why her obliviousness is so incredulous to some

people.. she could be staring at her cell phone or chatting with a friend while the boehner vote was going on at all or when they were throwing out the ron paul delegates.. when was the last time you saw a "she" having constant brain farts and just being blank about most things, constantly talking away on the phone? uhh, like since the beginning of time perhaps?

Not My Party

Not my party, no sir. The Republicans lost me for good in Tampa. The post-election purging of libertarians (clearing the way for an enormous sellout: tax hikes today for spending cuts tomorrow, and tomorrow will never come) only reinforces my belief that change will never come from within the system, but will be imposed on the system by force. The writing is already on the wall.

Yes, however, Romney Republicans did have their heads buried in the sand.

I have an acquaintance who

I have an acquaintance who I've known for several years and has been a mainstream R for 20+ years. When I met her, we exchanged a few statements about our political views and had some common ground as you might imagine. We started exchanging emails and I let her know that I was a Paul supporter. She immediately blasted me because RP--and me by extention--were not legitimate Republicans in her view. Of course, the fact that he was a duly elected GOP US Rep double digit times didn't change her mind. lol

Her position was that if I wanted to be a legit member of the GOP, I needed to go to PC meetings (which I did) and volunteer for jobs to do whatever the party wanted me to do. In that way, I would learn how the party works. Without that, I (an Paulers in general) just want to walk in and start telling the party how everything should be done, which is not how it works.

I started sending her information about various state convention shenanigans and her response was that...
a) The GOPers are playing by the rules
b) The Paulers break the rules whenever they can
c) They aren't legitimate Republicans anyway

She also started being personally insulting to me. So I ceased communication with her. She did tell me that if Obama wins, it'll be the fault of the Paulers. (Right. And the fact that the Romney backers communicated loud and clear that they didn't want our votes had nothing to do with it. LOL) I will say that she's from Iowa and I resisted the temptation of thanking her for the majority of her state's delegate votes at the nat'l convention. :-D

She is not a stupid person. But this is how the party line people think. They just have blinders on and get all of their information from the party spin doctors.

Appeasement and Conformity

My guess she is formally educated, good grades, popular and appears to be self reliant and responsible.

In the modern world young people are taught to conform, to appease the authority. They are not taught, nor is it encouraged, critical thinking. This is exactly why this culture of ours continues to suffer the lack of science and reason, neither are supported by appeasement and conformity.

Consider this - one cannot appease and conform to principles.

Our culture proclaims education sacred and covets a degree. No regard for smart being an act, we see smart as an adjective applied to the persons abundance of a fairy tail - the federal reserve note.

The best thing to be done for this lady - let her suffer her fate. When she feels the pain of appeasement and conformity LIBERTY will have another principled advocate. Till then spend your time with those in pain, they listen better.

How many voters have ever heard of Robert's Rules of Order?

I would not be surprised if a good 75% of general election voters have no idea how a candidate gets on the ballot. I wouldn't be surprised if this low-level staffer had never heard of Robert's Rules, had no idea what a "convention" is for, where "delegates" come from, etc.

I watched the Oklahoma parking lot convention on UStream and cried because watching civilized free people govern themselves was so moving to me. But I am the 1%, baby. I'm the 1% who learned how to read before kindergarten and learned how to think critically shortly thereafter. Those are the two basic skills you need for self-government, and how many government school graduates have those skills nowadays?

I'm not at all surprised that a Romneycare staffer was clueless. Government schools have dumbed down the electorate enough that they accept everything the TeeVee tells them as the gospel. They have no idea how the mechanics of government works. They're not taking civics classes anymore. They're getting diversity training and self-esteem training, and moral relativism training, and if they've heard of the Founding Fathers at all, it's to bash them as evil white racist slave owners.

Wrong question

How many people believe we are Nation of laws, not a nation of people in charge ?

Why would they care about "archaic" rules from a bygone era of slave owners with wooden teeth ?

As a music lover I offer this as an explanation for the task at hand
I found this video a few years back after a local meeting with fellow "conservatives"......my last one. Since then I have had a few come and ask for more, after they felt pain. They are now creeps, too.

Which is More Likely?

Which is more likely? Which is more common? Malice or ignorance?

It's a simple question. If you believe malice is more common than ignorance, then you have already given up and left the country for some wilderness area, because there's no way to survive in society.

Ignorance is a huge problem. I always say that liberals who understand economics, and conservatives who understand human nature, are libertarians.

It is only ignorant liberals and conservatives who think their issues can be sucessfully mandated by government.

In this case, it makes sense that honest people assume the best, and trust the media, and think they're part of something clean.
