Mandatory Social Security Reporting HELP

I just received a letter from my insurance company asking me to comply with a new Federal mandate. They state they are required to obtain social security numbers for my spouse and dependents! In my opinion, this seems to be a huge violation of my right to privacy, lining up with the unconstitutional federal overreach into the healthcare industry.

I do not wish to comply. I am sick of the Fed's overreach into my life. The letter and Federal website state that there is a penalty for noncompliance, but I can not find detail of such penalty. The site is: https://www.cms.hhs.gov/MandatoryInsRep/. They also provide a complex "CMS Refusal Form" that must be filed every year if you choose not to comply. Of course the refusal form looks like something published by the IRS in its detail and complexity.

I would appreciate any insight other liberty loving members have regarding this issue. Thanks!

I'm madder'n a wet settin' hen - Health Care HISSY ALERT!

CIGNA, got started all the way back in 2011 - got the jump on "Obamacare", about gave me a hissy fit. Now I have no insurance at all because my husband lost his job December of last year when his company moved to Charlotte. Thankfully my doctor (NP) only charged $25 for an office visit when my son came down with tonsillitis (only incident we've had need for a doctor since and we thought it was strep throat, so off to the doc he went).

Health Insurance Company?

You're link would not open for security reasons. SSN is part of the federal medicaid insurance plan.. and your form is a refusal to comply.. Her'e the instructions: http://www.ncas.com/UserFiles/file/forms/Members/SSN-Refusal...

If I were you, I would give them my SSN unless, for the reasons listed in the link, you are not qualified. Why make your life harder? Unless you have better plan, which it appears you don't, why fight the only thing you've got?

I am not

on Medicaid or Medicare. "why fight the only thing you've got?" What do I have, but my liberty. Let's just give big brother everything he asks, no questions asked! What then when asked for my first born, or 50% of the fruits of my labor.

“the powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, or prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people”. So what part of the Constitution allows the Federal Gov. to participate in or control my healthcare.

Isn't there anyone out there who gets this? Maybe I'm on the wrong site?

The part of the federal government that assumes your body

None of us have liberty and why we "Campaign For Liberty" and work to Restore the Republic. Unless you can fiund an illegal doctor willing to forgo insurance and all those government connected departments that perpetrate every inch of any medical facility, you do not have the liberty to get around their policy, except by the government and the policy that the government gives you (medicare or not.. then through your insurance, which it appears is indebted to government/ contracts to ask you.. could be part of a HLS or Patriot Act law going into effect.

As for being on the wrong site.. IMO, this site is divided on how to politically acheive liberty, and I find that is what makes it interesting. I think the third party no party route is a waste of time and energy, and I think getting in the GOP and helping them find their conservative side is a great fight.. very dirty, but then again, they are addicted and we can't expect them to go cold turkey, but we must get involved to accomplish restoring the republic for liberty.

I agree with your last paragraph there Granger. I too believe the best fight is to restore constitutional conservatism to the GOP, and have personally taken up that fight at the local level. Progress is slow, with much resistance, but it is progress and I believe at least at this level we are going to win. If that snowballs, we start holding regional representatives accountable and the either join us or lose their jobs!

I at one time had an experience with my bank. I refused to give it and they gave me a lot of grief until I presented them with the federal law that says that anyone trying to force that info from you could be subject to five years in prison. My bank does not have my number.
In a hurry here, I can't find that law. But I have a few web sites that may be interesting.

Doing this quickly because this is one of my pet peeves, but I know it's out there.

I love my country
I am appalled by my government

Good Info

Thanks for the links. Everything I have read states this request may not be mandatory, and If so, penalty for non-compliance must be disclosed. The information states that there is, or might be a penalty, but nothing specific is disclosed in my letter or the CMS website.

Not sure how old you are, but

Not sure how old you are, but the original SS cards have a clause on the back that says they are not to be used for identification purposes. I'd photocopy that, if you have one, and send that in instead.

Blessings )o(

I like that idea

I just don't want to end up with a fine. I do have my original card!

I have my grandfather's METAL

I have my grandfather's METAL ss card. Didn't know they existed til I found it.

Yes, the IRS is also

Yes, the IRS is also now "requiring" unprecedented levels of detailed reporting for anyone with stocks and any who participate in the stock market.
