Great video
Glad to see more and more people waking up.
this video should be required viewing for teachers
i think that if i were a teacher or a dean of some college or university, after I watched this, I would cry and cry.
This is not meant for students... this is meant for teachers and faculty members of any learning institution....your places of learning SUCK!
Learning is FUN. Also, i agree with the person below who said this video idolizes the rich and stupid.
Forget that...we need rich, educated and intelligent.
PS: Anybody notice the top menu ad promoting northern gateway pipeline... HOLY F***.

Saying George Bush isn't saying much.
I had this argument handed to me when I was in high school.. I had signed up for a typing class, and some genius said that by taking such a class I was setting myself up to be someone's secretary, instead of being a president. I wound up dropping out, worked as a cook, dishwasher and bartender for 9 years before I met a young woman my age who had gone to the Culinary Institute of America, got a degree, got the job as a sues chef, didn't have any real experience, but got the paycheck.. and that's when I decided I needed to find a better way to be a chef than working 18 hours every holiday "for someone else". I got an apprenticeship, but was discouraged by a chef and advised I should become a nutritionist, go to college.. so I did. I began remedially, since I was a high school drop out (GED when I was 19).
I can't say it was easy.. I worked three jobs, Alumni bar manager, "Board Room", Student Aide for the craft shop, and various jobs around the community, bagging groceries, cheese girl, prep cook..
And I got involved on campus.. student government, union program council, speakers committee, entertainment committee, and I met a lot of neat people, and I really liked college.. I wound up getting a bachelor of Fine Arts degree.. which everyone asked me.. "What the hell are you going to do with that?" I didn't know.
I wound up getting a job as an assistant designer for a hotel casion, and that led to more, and then by accident, I busted my boss in Las Vegas for embezzeling, got back listed as a whistleblower, and had to remake my life, which I did a hell of a lot of consevation volunteer work..
So I went back to college and studied for a Culinary Arts degree.. I founded a non-profit, Les Amis de Saverin, for low income students to compete in culinary competitions with the American Culinary Federation.. I earned 8 scholarships and dozens of awards, and worked.. as a life guard, in the book store and as a student aide for my dean. I even got a trip to Hawai'i to represent CA in the national culinary competition.. plus, I began an apprenticeship with a Master Guard Manger/ fruit, vegetable and ice carving.. and that's when the BFA degree clicked in..
I think going to school because you don't know what you want to do is a mistake.. work. Get experience. If you can afford an education.. enjoy it. No matter where you go in life, there you are, so if you are someone who sees lessons everywhere, the world is your classroom, and a university can expand that in many ways.
Finally.. what this video is doing is elevating the uneducated who are RICH and FAMOUS, as if that is the goal of life. This is the dumbing down. Rich and famous happen.. or not.. they do not bring happiness.. strive to be happy. Follow your heart, use your head and find the guts to follow your heart.. and if your heart is telling you that to be happy you need to be rich or famous, you've been dumbed down.

Although I really enjoyed getting to know you and your persistence to achieve. I must say you have completely missed the point. You must be able to think beyond what you see on the surface and penetrate this down to the message. If you want and aspire to be Bob Hope...great! Perhaps you you want to lead children out of poverty...great! Or maybe invent a new form of energy...great! All it's saying is there is a huge difference between educating yourself and going through the motions in a curriculum .
I hope you can see it now because its beautiful!

What? I'm not going along to get along now?
college opened doors for me, and I was a high school drop out and I don't regret earning my degrees. First year in culinary we get a HACCP certificate.. I interveiwed for a job, got paid $2.00 more an hiur for that certficate.. college can open doors. It did for me.

U still miss the point...
There is Specialized learning (Culinary like you for example)
Then there is GENERAL Schooling which IS the method of dumbing down kids to reduce their potential!
How about this.... When have you seen ANY courses in ANY general schooling organization (Public or Private) in which the philosophical points of Liberty are discussed or pondered? Do you think it a coincidence that Liberty is MISSING from the Curriculum?? That is simply because curriculum is not for freeing ones mind but for MOLDING the masses to fit a certain order. Simple as that.
Those who usually go on to become great things are in many instances either dropouts or bucked the schooling system in place of LEARNING what was TRULY important and relevant to them.
To suggest that schooling in its general form is positive is to suggest that slavery is a great form of labor.

I don't agree
In many ways I was blessed starting remedially because one of my mandetory classes was, "How to study", which was a "how to learn", and one point that stuck with me was, "Make the instructor yours."
So while many go and sit there expecting to be pumped full of knowledge for them to regurgitate, I reflected what I was interested in and asked how to apply what I was learning in the class. I made the instructor mine, and didn't care if the class liked it or not. I was there for me, not them. And I did get on the National Dean's List.. and I have handicaps.. I'm dyslexic.. so I had to hire "editors" to help me write a ledgible paper. Still, it wasn't what was in the classrooms I fiound knowledge, but the network that supports the college where the "gold" is.. and that is why I was so involved..
And I believe in slave jobs.. I believe there are times in life when it's great to have a job you don't have to think too much but you can do it, and it pays the bills. Running a business is like having dozens of jobs and no life.. as lest in America slaves are fired, not put to death.

So, since slavery is the opposite of Freedom and Liberty, you might as well find another forum to post on since you are definitely for slavery! Which of course means you are all for being owned by someone else or a group of others.
Wow... you should get a refund on your schooling since all it did was to "enslave" your mind to think just the way it was intended to think by those "schooled" you.
I don't think slavery is the kind of existence I would want to be associated with. Also, you keep misspelling some words. Just giving you a heads up.

I think the music was part of the dramatic effect - the thing left me a bit misty eyed. I'm serious.
I'm homeschooling my kids. Right now - this minute- one of them is making a book and the other is building a ten foot rocket ship. Some days I wonder if I'm doing the right thing by homeschooling. Today was one of those days. I am so happy to see this video. Thank you.

You are doing the right thing.
I wanted to home school, but it was 25 years ago, and no on I knew was doing it, there was no internet, and I got the "social skills" lecture every time I brought it up. So, they went to public school. My son survived it with the capacity to think intact, but he really has a hard time in the "churn-a-FRN" world. My daughter is quite successful, an attorney, and hardly speaks to me because "all I talk about is crazy stuff." Not a direct quote, but an "attitude" quote, if you will.
It is not just the damage done to them, it is what I lost. I would have ROCKED teaching those kids - and they would have gained plenty of social skills. My life would have revolved around loving and teaching them, instead of trying to earn enough money to keep them acceptable in the eyes of society.
You hang in there, and I want a ride on your kid's rocket when he builds the real one.

Education + School
I generally agree with what was presented. I wish there was less conflict between the two.
Every time you stop a school, you will have to build a jail. What you gain at one end you lose at the other. It's like feeding a dog on his own tail. It won't fatten the dog.
- Speech, 11/23/1900
All schools, all colleges, have two great functions: to confer, and to conceal, valuable knowledge. The theological knowledge which they conceal cannot justly be regarded as less valuable than that which they reveal. That is, when a man is buying a basket of strawberries it can profit him to know that the bottom half of it is rotten.

Going in to my final semester at school
Just finishing up a class entitled "Intellectual Origins of the American Revolution" taught by a liberal Canadian who started the course off saying the revolution was unecessary because "look at the taxes we pay now." The philosophers chosen for discussion, at least in my estimation, had little to do with influencing the Revolution (such as Montesquieu)and the materials and lectures were so drab no one felt like engaging. I was so excited to start the course thinking there would be fiery discussion in which I could make a case for liberty, but the professor (a former Yalebot)directed the course in such a manner that it neutralized any potential curiosity or creativy. I really do think the class was purposely intended to distance students from our great Revolution and to think of it as useless ancient history. Just a small example of creative assasination that goes on in higher education.
The power to destroy a thing is the absolute control over it
What DID you learn?
It sounds like what you learned in that class was the importance of investigating the people you want to associate with in advance of making a financial and time commitment to working with them. Perhaps you also learned that the advertisements (the course description in the college catelog) might not be a true representation of what will actually be delivered.
Now what are you going to do with that education?
Perhaps next course (or employment opportunity) you might as a result of this experience, research the teacher or boss in advance. You might talk to somebody who took this course before. This is a great lesson to learn.
Some people don't get to learn that lesson until they have wasted far more than you did. Only a small percentage of the lessons learned in college come from the books. You can look at each course you take in college as a mini job, with all the learning opportunities and experiences that go along with it.
