Epic Battle In King County (WA) GOP Ends In Epic Fail - For Us.

Results from the Saturday Dec 8th GOP Organizational Meeting in King County, WASHINGTON are as follows:

EVERY liberty-minded candidate got shut out.

Just like the King County GOP wanted.

God how they hate the Ron Paul people.

Even the coin they used to determine the outcome of a dead-even tie (for State Committeeman) must have been an establishment republican coin, because Matt Dubin (a great Ron Paul supporter and our last hope), lost that too.

Many subtle, little, blink-and-you'll-miss-them tricks were played there.

For example, TEN (10) PCOs were denied entry because they didn't (or couldn't) pay the $20.00 "DONATION" as they called it.

Nice!

Way to "grow and unite" the party King County GOP.

You probably lost 10 PCO's who may have gone home and cut up their republican affiliation cards.

Guess they'll get us out of the party one way or another.

And - how fair was that to the constituents of their precincts who voted for them and expected representation?

------------------------------------------
Do you know what the RNC and GOP learned from their losses in 2008 and 2012???

NOTHING - ZERO!!!

I'm Matt Dubin and I approve this message

I am Matt Dubin. I've been working to advance the cause of liberty in King County, Washington for many years, and doing so actively within the Republican Party since 2007. I was the King County floor captain for Ron Paul at the 2008 Washington State Republican Convention and I was the grassroots State Chair of the Ron Paul 2012 campaign in Washington from mid-March through the election. I was elected a delegate to the National Republican Convention and proudly cast my vote for Ron Paul in Tampa (although that vote was not acknowledged by party leadership).

With respect to the subject of this article, I worked alongside many patriots in anticipation of this meeting. We recruited and campaigned on behalf of precinct committee officers, rang doorbells and made phone calls. Many of us made sizable financial contributions. We had the numbers to win not only my election for State Committeeman (which ended in a tie) but to win every state leadership position from King County. We could have elected a friendly county chair, and a third of the State Executive Board members from our county - the most populous county in the State of Washington.

We did our best throughout the process to educate the supporters of liberty that JUST SHOWING UP AND STAYING UNTIL THE END can be enough to win. We reached out to our supporters with postcards (at our own expense) emails and personal phone calls. In the end, less than 200 of our people showed up for the meeting. Some had "more important things to do". Others simply were disgusted with the tactics used by leadership to hold onto power. Even so, that was almost enough to win. In my race, as a result of my personal campaigning (repeated email blasts to all PCOs, attendance at multiple "meet the candidate" meetings, and showing up at 7am in suit and tie and shaking hands, answering questions, etc.) I managed to fight the establishment candidate to a tie.

I personally know several supporters of liberty who walked out of the meeting out of frustration, disgust or exhaustion prior to my vote. I know others who just didn't bother coming.

We can whine and blame leadership all we want, but as long as they make the rules, set the agendas, etc., this is the reality we face. Politics is, and always has been a numbers game. My almost election in this bastion of neoconservatism, which wields virtual control over our state party should send a message to the supporters of freedom: We CAN change the direction of the GOP and in so doing save our nation, but it must be done through relentless, continuous, active participation in the Republican Party. Most importantly, we must continue to show up and stay at every Republican meeting and every Republican event.

The next County Organization meeting is in 2014. I predict we will have excellent candidates for every leadership position including County Chair, State Committeemen and Women and Executive Board members. Whether we can win will depend not only on the success of our efforts to keep our people energized and engaged, but in getting them to stop seeing themselves as VICTIMS and to start seeing themselves as patriots continuing the struggle that was taken up by our founders against a mighty foe. The enemies of liberty will never give up, but their power is an illusion that comes from our belief that it is real. We must continue to stand up to them screaming (politely) that the cause of freedom is too important to give up on, and that we will never go away. We will never be defeated.

We are doing this for our children and failure is not an option.

For Liberty,

Matt Dubin

Liberty-candidate Matt Dubin (our last hope of avoiding a sweep)

...lost BECAUSE they didn't allow those 10 PCOs in.

Then Lori Sotelo had the nerve to say the party needs to "unite and grow and be more accepting."

I almost walked out as soon as they voted to refuse entry to those 10 PCOs who didn't pay the "donation" - while voting to allow the late PCOs in (which the rules strictly prohibited).

It was perceived by the establishment that the late ones were "friendly" non-Paul PCOs, while those refusing to pay were the liberty-minded "Ron Paul" PCOs who the establishment would rather not have there anyway.

They got their wish and swept every position.

The fact is, it should never even have been brought to a vote to allow those in who were not there by 9:00.

In the end, the blame goes to the establishment republicans who outnumbered us.

Just another orchestrated effort to keep the "Ron Paul republicans" OUT.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."

King County (larger than 13 STATES!) was ours to lose.

Read this article if you want to know why Seattle's King County was a battle lost for Liberty. Tons of detail and a powerful story.

Nothing under that link mentioned anything about.....

...the author's efforts to recruit and train PCOs, the author's time spent pounding pavement, canvassing his neighbors, coordinating them weeks prior to and then the night prior to the meeting, getting there early, volunteering, etc.

It was one HUUUUUGE whine that mentioned not WORD ONE about anything having to do with the TIME TESTED, PROVEN methodologies required to win.

You can't win something like this by treating it like a video game.

It takes YEARS of planning and execution and the win occurs at the precinct level recruiting the likeminded door by door and phone number by phone number.

If you don't do that PERSONALLY, you have no right to whine.

Thank You for Sharing

I cannot find one sentence that is not the truth, period. Although I am from Spokane County we feel her affect all the way over here. It is always Lori Sotelo first, party second and the country last.

Joined the Liberty Movement in Anchorage, Alaska, 1977. Ron Paul supporter since 1983.

The title of this post

Is missing two words - "for now".

I'm going to say this as calmly as I can AGAIN

The Republican National Party in the US is part of a larger international organization called THE INTERNATIONAL DEMOCRAT UNION - it was started by the first Bush while he was Republican VP of the USA. Anyhow - Gun Owners of America has written about this and if you look it up the International Democrat Union (IDU) has a website and a Wikipedia Page.

Look - everyone - its NOT ABOUT DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN its about being American and the only thing that makes us American is our Constitution. Period. End of Story. Parties will not save us.

They are getting ready to crash the dollar ON PURPOSE.

Honestly the next election is set for Hillary Clinton. And quite frankly, although she is a political monster in her own right - she will win because the Republican party amazingly has no-one - huh...imagine that? What was I just saying about the International Democrat Union?

It may be time to do what Ron Paul himself has been saying all along. INFILTRATE EITHER PARTY (if you feel voting will actually make a difference at all.) As a congressman friend of mine once told me before he left after almost as long a run in Congress as Ron Paul, "just run in any party - the party that has the majority in your area - and WIN. Just win and do the right thing once you are in.) GO hyperLOCAL. That's what it is going to come down to. Be INDEPENDENT if that is what is going to take to win.

well

Yup - And no one represses peaceful revolution...

...like the good old GOP and RNC.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

BY THE WAY - One gentleman walked up to a microphone and...

...told the chairman that HE WOULD PAY THEIR $20.00 "donation" to the republican party.

But the chairman said we were going to go ahead and vote on it and it STILL faild.

So it was not about the money - it was about the political will of the establishemt republican PCOs (who outnumbered us) to keep those 10 PCOs OUT because they assumed they were Ron Paul republicans.

And they would rather wa ALL go away.

Then they could sit in their little meetings and all agree on EVERYTHING.

They could sit in their misguided comfort of believeing they're any different than democrats.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

It's crap strategy.

Having your people show up EARLY and get paid up and get in EARLY is the best strategy.

Whining afterward of course gets votes against you even from sympathizers, who, by the way, showed up ON TIME AND PAID.

You act like you're surprised.

What did you expect? "Oh, sure!!! Come on in Paul supporters and take over our party."

It sounds like there could have been a little more preparation. If Republican establishment types ANYWHERE get the slightest impression that you won't vote straight-ticket Repub every election, they'll try to lock you out every time. I think some people don't understand what the words "take over" mean. Taking over a party means you CONVERT enough activists and RECRUIT enough new activists to OUTNUMBER the old guard. Once that happens and not a second before, the Old Guard will fall into line and either join you or sit down and shut up.

That's bullshi*.

Did people not KNOW they had to pay the $20 fee?

Or they knew but were too poor to pay it?

What kind of advanced planning was there? None?

I would have contributed $20 for one of them. DID ANYONE ASK THE LIBERTY COMMUNITY TO HELP? Nope.

The failure sounds like we just couldn't get our shi* together. Not an establishment lockout, based on your description.

King County organizer responds

The fee was voluntary.

The GOP opted to enforce the fee impartially. I believe some were responding to an email that cited the fee as a poll tax. There was an interesting flurry of emails flying back and forth between camps and if you want to get exercised why not complain to Kirby Wilbur about the abuse of his position, his authority, and the resources as WA State Repubican Party while he serves as Chairman.

Every Paul supporter could have had financial aid from the Grassroots if they wanted, there were many ready to contribute and some including myself who did and several prepatory efforts were communally funded.

There was a lot of advanced planning. Several meetings and strategy sessions were held. Plenty of people in the Liberty Community helped out.

Many Liberty PCOs have moved to another LD, or officially joined the L party. Yes if all of the PCOs had turned out the outcome would have been different.

There intentionally was not a slate, none was needed as the Establishment published theirs and we voted against it.

If you live in King County and are disappointed then where were you? Contact me and explain yourself. You made no effort to get involved with the dozens of Liberty PCOs who earnestly worked extremely hard to make the day a success. If the PCOs did not show you will have to ask them why, but I do not accept your criticism.

We took several opportunities to give them hell in speeches, and many of the Party faithful's ears perked up as they could see the injustices before them. We scared the hell out of them I assure you, and they are completely aware that we are a force to be reckonned with. We nearly won both State Committee positions. They are terrified of us.

DOESNT MATTER IF IT WAS "VOLUNTARY"

You pay it anyway. Don't create your OWN roadblocks. Give them ZERO reason to bar your people. Remove ANY POSSIBLE excuse.

That's how you win. You don't win by arguing subsection d, paragraph 1 of section A in bylaw V.

That's how you make people HATE you and even have sympathizers vote against you.

You win by showing up IN COAT AND TIE and EARLY and have your people work creds and tally because they showed up at 7am before anyone else and 1/2 of the gen pop didn't show up, leaving all your people to fill in all the slots. Showered, combed, dressed, early and all paid up.

Frankly, it sounds like you effed up, plain and simple.

Really?

"You win by showing up IN COAT AND TIE and EARLY and have your people work creds and tally because they showed up at 7am before anyone else and 1/2 of the gen pop didn't show up, leaving all your people to fill in all the slots. Showered, combed, dressed, early and all paid up.

Frankly, it sounds like you effed up, plain and simple."

This is not how it works. You can not have your people work creds because the credentials committee from each LD does that and we do have Liberty folls in those positions and we did have observers, both at credentials and during the tallys. The general population does not get to "fill in" only elected PCOs can do that, and if absent there are no substitues. You clearly do not know what you are talking about.

And if one of us FBI_exposer you surely would have referred to "your people" as "our" people.

Oh please.

I've been doing conventions for 20 years. I have my people show up at 6:59 am without fail.

Vacancies in creds and tally are ALWAYS filled by my people because they are PRESENT, PRESENTABLE, and I have them go through the morning early C&T training even if they were not selected by their "LDs".

There is X amount of work to be done by volunteers on convention day. That means there is X/n amount of work per person. if n-m people show up, my people make up the m (the difference), every time, without fail.

You're an amateur, you got schooled and OUR people in your county lost because of it.

You were not there and do not have a clue

what you are talking about.

There were no vacancies in credentials or in tally. Credentialing was a breeze and so was tally-very out in the open with no shortage of observers including the candidates.

The issue is that not one of the 10 who were denied entrance for not volunteering their fee sought out leadership (either notifying us before hand or at the site of their intentions) and leadership was not aware of their plight because as you well know, the doors are locked at the zero hour and the credentials report is then given somewhat later.

There was a floor fight over their admission and it failed.

If we failed to have the numbers it was because individuals in the liberty movement did not make the committment to be there that day in spite of all of our efforts.

This comment of yours nailed it:

"If we failed to have the numbers it was because individuals in the liberty movement did not make the committment to be there that day in spite of all of our efforts."

And this is our #1 weakness, but did you not know this in advance?

Since this is our #1 KNOWN weakness this should have been the single thing to focus all effort on.

Bottom line is, if you don't got the numbers, you're getting steamrolled and there's nothing you can do about it.

So, you either bring the numbers or get ready to pick up the soap.

If you think joining Bob Barr and the Libertarian Party is the..

If you think joining Bob Barr and the Libertarian Party is the solution you are dead wrong.

Gary Johnson is proposing a new tax.

Look, there is only one way to take back this country short of revolution and that is for everyone to become either a Republican (or Democrat) and try our best to dominate one of the major two parties in a majority of states.

Ron Paul has already said going 3rd party is a waste of time and effort. Don't let the establishment trolls divide us.

If we had the Libertarians behind us and coming out to the King County meeting we would have a decent chance taking the party back.

.

quite frankly

Im lead to believe America should just shut down and reboot. you have to remove the corruption at its roots and eradicate the seed! You think we are going to fix this in less than 4 years? my friend this may take more than 20 years which is time we really dont have.

The Presidential Pardon is the way to reboot while saving our Bill of Rights and constitution.

The President must act to un-enslave us from oppressive laws by using this power.

We must take the Presidency or elect 10th-amendment governors willing to exercise the Pardon Powers that they have been granted.

This is the best solution I can come up with

I would suggest that all RP PCO's avoid any further meetings for at least the next 3 months. Show them how their numbers will look if they continue to dis-enfranchaise Liberty Minded PCO's. If we walked out during the vote once it was determined that they were intent to shut us out, then we would have sent them a message that spoke loud and clear. I personally will boycott any further meetings with the GOP just to send that message. What about the rest of you? Obviously they don't listen to what we say but the visual effect of seeing that they stand the possibility of losing more supporters will send the message that it's time to either show us that our numbers mean something or they will face losing more elections.

What Yakima is doing...

Is packing the house with our limited numbers at every meeting consistently. PCO's, guests, I had to bring my 2yr old there a few times. Look dedicated, provide insight, and get mad as hell when they try to pull fast ones over you. We have had major success by starting the Republican Liberty Caucus in Yakima, it provides legitimacy and a place to invite the other fringe on the outside looking in.

DO NOT STOP GOING! The one time no one shows up from our group to the Central Committee meeting, you will wish you had gone.

That's the stupiedest idea I've ever heard.

Who recommends leaving the field of battle?

You leave, THEY WIN. Simple as that.

It was my coin!

I happened to have a walking liberty silver eagle in my bag Saturday. As soon as I realized the vote was coming down to a coin flip I ran to the front and offered my coin. Dubin called "heads" in the air, but unfortunately tails was the result. Liberty got turned down.

WOW Jack Scott. They actually let you use a silver eagle coin?

Other than you and Dubin, they probably didn't even know what it was.

The utter irony of a good liberty candidate losing while using a Lady Liberty silver eagle.

Ig Matt Dubin had won we might have the start of an urban legend!

DAMN!

Entry fee

My friend went in line before me and said that he was low income and could only pay $5 to get in. They accepted that and let him enter. I went next and said "I also only want to donate $5" and they accepted that and let me enter. When the meeting began the credentialed PCOs voted to not let the ten non-payers enter.

The highlight of the event was a man ending his on stage speech by saying "well this is a private meeting so..." and then pulling a joint out of his pocket and lighting it. The crowd actually laughed and the two cops in the room didn't stop him. At the last republican event I went to they voted to add the GOPs opposition to legalizing marijuana to the platform.

Screw the GOP

Without us they will lose every election until the end of the world.
