December 10, 2012 11:42 PM

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) – A viewer told CBS 5 about some surprising video captured early Sunday morning in San Francisco’s Mission District.

In the video, a series of lights fly in formation above the city before appearing to take a diamond shape and eventually disappearing.

Several commenters on the Mission Mission blog said that they had also noticed the aircraft.

The video, which shows seven lights in a row, was shot by Enrique Barrios with his cellphone.

It's The "The Wing" and a Prayer...

Hold the wing, just give me the prayer

I Figured it Out and It's Obvious

The Rapture has begun. All those "pious" Christian Zionist souls getting called up to the Heaven League (or more likely, down to the Hell League).

It's the RUSSIANS....

Kneel under your desks, kids, and tuck your chins to your chests!

Underground Government Flying Objects.
This is worth the time - all 8 segments.

I am reasonably sure "aliens" exist, probably even been by this rock. However, I KNOW there are evil tuckfards who will murder to keep technology to themselves so they may use it to fearmonger the masses. They have been planning an "alien invasion show" for decades now, I EXPECT a "visit" from people pretending to be aliens. If I run into an actual alien, I trust they will be sufficiently advanced to understand my skepticism.

Love or fear? Choose again with every breath.

Chinese paper lanterns

that is all.

If men are good, you don't need government; if men are evil or ambivalent, you don't dare have one.

This reminds me of the Arizona lights...

It's probably one of them big triangle stealth jobs that we make in the desert...

Probably flares

When they are in a straight line it is obvious from the moment the were deployed. After that they just fall and go wherever the wind takes them. The triangle shape is formed because some fall faster then others and of course people are hardwired to see shapes in everything.
Just as we can see shapes in clouds. From another perspective it is almost certain not a recognizable 'formation'.
If they would fly away with enormous speed however, then i would be calling it a ufo.

Nope, flares don't "fit the bill," Chinese laterns either...

"Fact or Faked" did a show testing various theories regarding this type of light patterns and ruled out both flares and Chinese lanterns. However, small aerial drones carrying really bright LEDs would do the trick; they would not even have to be military drones, as RC model aircraft would do.

I saw this in Palo Alto and

I saw this in Palo Alto and thought I was having a seizure or something. My buddy and I were drinking that night but we noticed the strange formation before we opened the bottle. We first noticed strange lights in the sky that dimmed and brightened, in a roughly diamond shape. We decided that this was just too much to handle (pun intended) and went on to get crunk.

I also saw the pattern on

I also saw the pattern on Sunday night late, also in Palo Alto, roughly in the North-East portion of the sky. No drinks were involved.
