I don't support the troops

That's right, I said it. I don't support the troops! But wait, why stop there?

Not only do I not support the troops,
I don't support the teachers
I don't support the police
I don't support the firefighters
I don't support the labor unions, public or private

Or any other group / mob mentality.

What I do support are the individuals rights to life, liberty, property and the pursuit thereof as well as those individuals that defend my rights to life, liberty, property and the pursuit thereof.

We as a society must reject collective group think at all levels. Our society places so much emphasis on the institutions and not the individuals. Next time I see a sticker or a slogan emploring me to support one of these institutions I'm going to scream. It is crammed down our throats 24-7 and its time we asked why!

Stand up for the individual! A Campaign for Liberty! And Reject Collectivism!

Am I alone?

You are a VETERAN. You are not active "our troops", therefore

we're talking apples and oranges.

Our "troops" today joined voluntarily. They knew there was war going on. They chose to go for adventure, a job, college benefits and other benefits.

I do not support "our troops" even slightly.

How many service men and women were drafted today?

How many?

You are not in the same arena.

Thanks for your comments.

How many people avoided the draft? He most certainly is in that group just as Ron Paul is. You have to be one of the stupidest people I have had the displeasure of reading on this ever increasingly anarchist, retarded, pseudo-intellectual site.

I just came home and had a stop over at the Detroit Airport.

Every half hour I cringed when I heard over the the loudspeaker (something like).

"To all active military, veterans and dependents we honor you. Stop at the Freedom Center, located near gate A23 (or something), open 7 days a week and providing a homelike atmosphere and several amenities to show our appreciation for fighting for our freedom. Thank you and it is our privlege to honor you."

NOBODY lately has fought for MY freedom as part of the military. And I do not honor those who fought for the military industrial complex. They did it for a job, adventure and some military benefits. And even if for a time any military personel were conned into thinking the were in it for nobel reasons, I feel sorry for them, but the fact remains they fought for corporate interests and nobody's freedom anyway.

I agree

I agree with you that America has fallen deeply into military worship. Being in the military is a job that you voluntarily apply for. Is it an honorable job? It can be. But it can also not be. It's just not that simple. We can't laud honor and praise on every person who serves in the military. But we also can't heap disdain and disrespect on everyone who serves. It's just not that simple. What about a chaplain who goes in (a non-combat officer) because he wants to help stop military suicides? Or a doctor who just want to practice medicine, ect. We still need a military of some sort for defense. I'm not the one to decide what it looks like, but it's not entirely fair to clump all military members together; to honor them, or to slander them.

The day you have to call 911 for whatever reason, just make sure to scratch off the police and firedept from your list.

Don't call the fire department!

They cause more damage than the fire. They cut holes in your roof and never use the front door. They come through windows and walls.....

Um... do I have to support and honor bakers if I eat bread?

Just wondering.

Only if it is the bakers....

who make the garlic bread at olive garden.

Is there a bakers union?

Obviously not. They have to get up at 3 am without early bonus pay.

Hostess had one

It's a good thing firefighters won't care whether you support them when they come to help you in a situation that may not have been your fault.

The founders would be ashamed at us for what we are putting up with.

I support freedom. I support

I support freedom. I support people who, when free, come together. And I support people who, when free, don't want to come together. I care nothing about the name of togetherness other than to identify how the togetherness occurred so that freedom is maintained and coercion stopped. My point is freedom against coercion.

Campaign for Liberty

lol not to be a pain in the ass but isn't the Campaign for Liberty a group?

Maybe change, the "thank you for your service" into

"I hate what you did to people in other countries in our name".

The 'Thank you for your service" is just another way to cover up the atrocities. Most 'troops' are lied to. And if you show your support you are continuing the lie only to not upset the 'trooper''s feelings.

Maybe it is time to start complaining to 'troops' what they are doing, with examples and info so they can study it themselves.

Troops should be ashamed for what they do, not proud.
The more ashamed they will be the more they will think about what they are doing. 'Following orders' and joining the military out of economic necessity does not give the right to kill people, unless it is a real and declared war.

If you say 'thanks for your service" it is time to question your own knowledge.

Sizing down the military to a defensive force has the highest priority.

I don't support the troops..

...because I oppose the wars and every troop that is currently EMPLOYED, by the military, signed up for the job of fighting an illegal war...Same with fire fighters, cops, and all the other "civil servants"...They have a job and they signed up for it...Period...

Bad food, worse weather, please rEVOLution the states so I can bring my family back home!

I read your thoughts again.

"reject collective group think at all levels"

"Campaign for Liberty!" (a group you support)

"Am I alone?" (is there anyone else in my group)

The campaign for liberty is not a group

It's a message...and I do support a campaign for liberty

For Freedom!

You are the judge of each group.

This emotion is a natural state to go through, however it is not the end.

You have awoken to the fact that many groups you found yourself part of while asleep were not actually benefiting you, and now you reject them. That does not make groups bad. Groups are simply that, more than one person that can be define by some common trait. Sometimes that's blind faith towards government. Sometimes that's a commitment to limited government and individuality.

There are groups that destroy the individual. And there are groups that support the individual, a great example being the original United States of America, or the DailyPaul users. This beneficial group acts quite differently, and it is up to your individual judgement if you want to participate in or avoid these groups.

A beneficial group can still limit your freedom. Freedom is a loose word, and not the same as liberty. For example, you might be part of a group of friends, who will exclude you from the group if you treat people poorly. A strong person wouldn't want to be part of a group that would not limit them in this way, and would "govern" themselves on this. Daily Paul limits your freedom in that you can not start posting get rich quick schemes and remain a member.

Secondly, individuals think at various levels. Obviously one does not hate a deer for eating your flowers, because it is in their nature, the deer is less intelligent, and you therefor accept that it is your responsibility to stop them. Many teachers and policemen, and to a much lesser degree firemen, fall into a similar lesser intelligence category of man. A teacher might be used for evil. But they are not evil (usually). They are weak and being used for evil, which is very different.

As a former 'troop'

I am in no way offended by this.

Then you are just as dumb as

Then you are just as dumb as the idiot poster. Good thing the colonial army didn't think this way. Hard to believe some people on here are so retarded.

As a veteran I can say

I never got off on the "thank you for your service" thing i'd get. It was worthless. I was proud of how hard I worked, but I was basically a cog in a communist machine fueled by massive tax pillaging of people being brainwashed to think I was keeping them safe.

anyone who says they support the troops

Tell them if they really support them they will support bringing them home.

So, its ok to say I support the troops

If I vote for candidates that support bringing them home?

No, Its ok

that you do what ever you want to do.

I dont support...

the US government's black operators around the world. I dont want any Americans to suffer, but I wish that the US military would get stunned by a punch in the proverbial nose- think Mogadishu x10- that might send the empire into retreat. A strong, vibrant forest is

A strong, vibrant forest is not possible without strong, individual trees. Without the independent tree, there would be no forest.

A landscape composed of small, equally weak trees does not make a forest for all the trees are equal and no tree is allowed to grow taller or thicker than another. Therefore, no forest shall ever exist in a tree sea full of, "equality," only a desert full of sand, and very few trees.

We are one as the human race, but we are not the same. All humans are NOT equal. Some like to work, some don't. Some like to reach for the stars and do good for humanity, and some would rather watch Dancing With The Stars, do nothing, and watch football.

A good football team is not possible without exceptional, individual players and talent.

A chain is only as strong as the weakest individual link.

America has far too many weak, government dependent links.

A strong country can not exist without a strong chain of indivual achievement.

Individual achievement is the reason why America was born. When individuals decided to take back their God given rights, their actions unleashed the amazing powers of the human mind in the 19th and 20th centuries. Freedom was born, through the power of the individual man and woman.

The "Great Experiment," resulted in something that was beyond what any Monarch could ever dream of, both good and bad.

A single person can change the world for the good....and Jesus proved it!

Good job Dex

The real irony in what you said was, "We *as a society* must reject collective group think..."

Individualists still have to have the permission of the 51% so they don't turn their guns on us.

Happy trails.
