Wow. I'm sporting a total man crush for Justin Amash.

Seriously, that guy is a liberty badass.

Petition to Stop the Purge

Part of email sent by RandPAC:

“It is the food which you furnish to your mind that determines the whole character of your life.”
―Emmet Fox

Rand Pac contradicts Justin Amish

Justin Amish claims the people booted off Committee have in common wanting to work with Democrats on Defense Cuts.

Rand Pac is shrill what used to be called anti-Communist hysteria. I almost contributed $10 but the internet went down and I was going to call them to make sure I didn't end up contributing $20 Now I wish I could take my name off of their petition,

I'm not clear on which part of the Petition you object to.

Here's what it says:

Stop The Conservative Purge!
*** Whereas: Four principled conservatives were purged from their committee assignments by the GOP establishment; and

*** Whereas: Two of the congressmen were purged from the Budget Committee for voting for a five-year balanced budget plan as opposed to Paul Ryan's twenty-eight year balanced buget plan; and

*** Whereas: Republican failure to fight for lower spending, smaller government and our conservative values have cost the GOP nationally for years; and

*** Whereas: Americans are thirsty for the GOP to return to core constituional principles - not trade them in for the Democrat Party Platform.

*** Therefore: I urge you to stop the conservative purge and reinstate the four fiscal conservatives to their committee assignments.

“It is the food which you furnish to your mind that determines the whole character of your life.”

Rand Pac lists there other activities mainly condeming Joe Manc

The Rand Pacs weight is full of hysterical comments trying to reinstate a cold war, the exact opposite of what Rep. Justin Amash says is the reason for the purge,

Sitll can't make the connection to the Petition.

I see no conflict in what you linked and the purpose of the Petition. Are you just Rand bashing for the sake of Rand bashing or am I missing something here?

“It is the food which you furnish to your mind that determines the whole character of your life.”
―Emmet Fox

Neither can I.

I know I'm stumped. Maybe I missed it after reading it a couple of times but I don't see any conflict.

Mr. Boner Thank you for your

Mr. Boner

Thank you for your letter regarding the abuse of the steering committee. The people are a deliberative body that review all appropriate information. If you would like further explanation of why they think you are among the best examples of political corruption, and how this can be avoided in the future, we encourage you to personally meet with oncoming traffic.

Translation of Boehner's letter: How dare you peons question me!

This letter from the Speaker of the House to these three duly elected members of Congress is condescending and offense. It is no less than a slap in the face. Congressmen Amash, Huelskamp, and Sweikert were just relegated to Congressional Siberia with only this cursory letter as justification.

The republicans rule with an iron fist, like Chairman Mao. This Party is not about to be changed from the outside or from the inside, IMO. Such a unilateral action is the stuff that independent third parties are born.

I'm sorry. I meant bump.

When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe.
~ John Muir

This whole episode reminds me of the quote...

..."Give me control of a nation's money and I care not who makes the laws." - Mayer Amschel Rothschild

Like Dr. Paul has said on many occasions, "the Congress is completely irrelevant." That's why Dr. Paul's mission is toe educate. Ideas are powerful. He's trying to change history by changing minds, by illuminating minds with truth.

The top leaders as well as committee leadership, including steering committee members, are hand picked.

Amash, like Dr. Paul, fights an uphill, losing battle. The game is rigged.

We need to focus our time, energies and money on state nullification, "the rightful remedy" to corrupt laws and practices of the federal government.

"It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a rEVOLution before tomorrow morning." - Henry Ford

...that quote is apocryphal, there's no evidence that Mayer Amschel Rothschild ever said it. It's dead-on in characterizing the cartel bankers, which is why it's a popular quote, but it's best not to use fake quotes, gives ammunition to our opponents.

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

so true,

I didn't know there was a formality to tyrany

A true flower can not blossom without sunlight and a true man can not live without love.

Who is on the steering Committee?

And that brings up another question, who are their major campaign donors? How can we get Amash and the other liberty candidates on the steering committee?

That is An Excellent Question

Who chooses the steering committee members and what gives them any more power than other equally elected representatives?

Its always amusing to read threads, where

... some sizable number of people responding clearly show they do not take a moment to focus and read

Whether this is ADD, or merely a consequence of being continuously bombarded by streams of information in the 21st century - I can't say.

"There is no scorecard or any other single criteria ..."

Read that sentence carefully. This actually is saying:

"We're not telling you what specific criteria we actually used. A scorecard might or might not have been used.

But if it was, it wasn't the *only* thing we used. Because we used more than one method. Which might have included a scorecard. Or not"

This is classic political misdirection. This is the way they learn to speak.

Language like this is used to make black seem like white. Up sound like down. Tax hikes sound like tax cuts. Troop surges appear to be troop withdrawals. And on and on.

It's corporate legalspeak. You should expect it by now. If someone in the upper echelons of D.C., K-Street, Wall Street, City of London, the Eurozone etc etc is opening their mouth to the public?

They're lying. They are doing it with language like this.

People: please learn to interpret this language so you can identify (for yourself) when you are being lied to.

Which = constantly.

My favorite one they use

My favorite one they use right before speaking lies is "Correct me if I am wrong but.."..it has many darkened miles on it. Boener (I will say it again) is a puppet to his masters of the GOP. That is whom we should be pouring out our wrath on. Especially those who live in states represented by those wonderful guys. And let us not forget Walter Jones who has also been screwed..

Agreed. Key word = "single"

A famous example of another key word: "that"

"I did not have sexual relations with 'that' woman," "that" being a reference to the woman who was on his mind at the time he answered the question and not the woman being referred to by the person asking the question.

Christopher Hitchens Parses Clinton Brilliantly...

...in his book No One Left To Lie To.

Consider this statement from Clinton's lawyer in 1999: "Any allegation that the President assaulted Mrs. Broadrick more than twenty years ago is absolutely false."

Hitchens's disection: *Any* allegation? Oh, you mean *this* allegation? In 1978 the President was Jimmy Carter, who certainly didn't "assault" any woman that year. And in 1978, Juanita was Mrs. Hickey. So-did bill Clinton rape Mrs. Hickey that year?

"Jesus answered them: 'Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.'" (John 8:34-36)

Boehner's letter: We base

Boehner's letter:
We base our committee assignments upon "review of all appropriate information." [in other words a score card. Boehner just calls it "appropriate information" instead of a scorecard]

Based upon the decisions Boehner made, one can see that his scorecard/ err ummm "appropriate information," means he is blackballing anyone who actually stands fast on the principles of fiscal responsibility and opposes deficit spending and raising the debt ceiling.

Boehner between the lines: Its nice to talk about fiscal responsibility but the Republican party will certainly not tolerate anyone actually being fiscally responsible.

Nope, the Boehner way is perpetual deficits and the ever accelerating debt spiral - war, occupation, foreign aid "welfare/bribes", destruction of national sovereignty, paving toward world government, bailouts, borrowing, socialism, Departments, departments, departments, inflation, drones, patriot act, NDAA, income tax, federalization of everything, ....

Let it not be said that we did nothing.-Ron Paul

Brace Yourself

Boehner and the rest of the Republican establishment are preparing for a great betrayal of their supposed principles, and so must silence "embarrassing" figures like Amash. The deal will be tax hikes today for spending cuts tomorrow, but tomorrow will never come. Of course, the Republicans will boast about reductions in the rate of spending growth as "cutting spending," and Democrats will shriek that such reductions are "catastrophic cuts." The beat goes on.

Like a cult, the rank-and-file Republicans genuinely believe what the leadership says about fighting for limited government, while the leadership's true loyalties lie elsewhere. Republican leaders are only interested in expanding their money and power; everything they say and do is just a means to that end. Any Republican who defies the cult leadership is subject to excommunication and ostracization.

"tax hikes today for spending cuts tomorrow"

That's what I'm expecting.

Why is it Called a "Steering" Commitee?

Sounds like a bad thing right there.

So they can steer us

right off a cliff.

Didn't Boehner...

Didn't Boehner support the same presidential candidate as Rand Paul?
