And He is Taking It Public

He is not going to let this incident go unnoticed.

You are missing

You are missing something.

Read Boehner's letter carefully. It says:

"...there is no scorecard or any other single criteria used to determine committee assignments."

This phrasing is precise. The language used:

1. does not assert that there is no scorecard;

2. does not assert that there is no scorecard used to determine committee assignments.

Instead, the language used:

1. asserts that there is no scorecard used as a single criteria [sic] to determine committee assignments;

2. asserts that no other single criteria [sic] is used to determine committee assignments.

All Boehner has really asserted is that a scorecard is not the single criterion determining committee assignments. There are other criteria.

This is not a denial that a scorecard exists and is used in determining committee assignments.

Sophistry

Right on! Exactly the kind of sophistry that our education system gives most people no defense to. Credits to Tragedy and Hope, John Taylor Gatto and Richard Grove.

Did Amash read the same letter posted in the link

above?

Amash, 12/11/12: “I have received a response from Speaker Boehner concerning the secret scorecard . . . .

“The Speaker did not dispute the existence of a scorecard and he did not deny that it was used to justify the Representatives’ removals."

Boehner letter to Amash, 12/10/12: "There is no scorecard..."

Or is Amash just being dishonest?

The full quote

"As has been made clear, there is no scorecard or any other single criteria used to determine committee assignments."

The rest of the quote reveals that the intent of the statement was not to refute the existence of a scorecard. Only to assert that multiple criteria are used ... which may or may not include a voting scorecard.

I don't think Amash is being dishonest. I think he deserves to know exactly what went into this decision and since he's been verbally told of the existence a scorecard, naturally he's trying to get to the bottom of it.
Boehner, on the other hand, is talking through his teeth like a typical politician. Counting on people to only pick up the first part of the quote like you did.

After Tampa

After Tampa, you're seriously asking if beohner is telling the truth?

"What if the American people learn the truth" - Ron Paul

No.

I'm pointing out that Amash is clearly not telling the truth. Lying about a corrupt liar's letter does not make lying right.

"I'm pointing out that Amash

"I'm pointing out that Amash is clearly not telling the truth."

No. The lack of clarity in the letter from Boehner is what is causing your confusion. It's wordsmithing. Read the other responses in this thread to better understand.

The scorecard is not written down

It's an arbitrary decision by the smart ass....es behind closed doors.

There should be NO scorecard

This whole thing is very revealing and disgusting, and it just shows how far down these so-called political prostitutes will go to serve the lobbyists and their billionaire banker masters.

Boehner said there is no scorecard.

Maybe he's lying, probably is. But, that doesn't excuse Amash lying that Boehner didn't deny the existence of the scorecard when we can see Boehner clearly did.

"Boehner said there is no

"Boehner said there is no scorecard."

No he didn't. He said there is no scorecard used as a single criteria. A scorecard may, however, be used among multiple criteria. Read it again.

The more his mail-box floods the more pressure he feels. Players under pressure make more mistakes! Speaker, no more!

Am I missing something?

Amash says that Boehners letter doesn't deny the score card but the letter I read does. I know which one I trust but I don't want to see this get spun into them saying Amash is deliberately making things up.

Dear Mr. Boehner:

Soooooo... What was the "appropriate information" that was "reviewed" upon which the decision was made!!!???

P.S. Be a man, grow a pair and try to exercise some of that so-called leadership you claim to posses by owning up to your actions rather than passing them off to individual Steering Committee Members.

P.P.S. A-hole!

If men are good, you don't need government; if men are evil or ambivalent, you don't dare have one.
