Psychiatry goes insane: Every human emotion now classified as a mental disorder in new psychiatric manual DSM-5

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews.com

(NaturalNews) The industry of modern psychiatry has officially gone insane. Virtually every emotion experienced by a human being -- sadness, grief, anxiety, frustration, impatience, excitement -- is now being classified as a "mental disorder" demanding chemical treatment (with prescription medications, of course).

The new, upcoming DSM-5 "psychiatry bible," expected to be released in a few months, has transformed itself from a medical reference manual to a testament to the insanity of the industry itself.

"Mental disorders" named in the DSM-5 include "General Anxiety Disorder" or GAD for short. GAD can be diagnosed in a person who feels a little anxious doing something like, say, talking to a psychiatrist. Thus, the mere act of a psychiatrist engaging in the possibility of making a diagnoses causes the "symptoms" of that diagnoses to magically appear.

No obedience?

The devil had a similar attitude - "I will not serve." Look where it got him...And look where it got Adam and Eve when they decided to try it the Devil's way. It used to be that Man had quite direct communication with God as you desire, but that communication line was *severed* by Man's disobedience to God. Now, we must seek Him out, and engage in the long, hard battle to get back to our heavenly home.

Since the original sin was one of disobedience, it makes quite a bit of sense that the cornerstone to the path back to God is obedience. Jesus was obedient unto death. He gave the example of individual submission to the will of God. The main way we have of knowing God's will is the Church He established Himself through his apostles.

My husband doesn't force me to do anything, thank you very much, and we don't try to force our neighbors into anything.

If you believe in God, and it sounds like you do, how can you not know that your main purpose is to know, love and serve Him who has created and loves you? Even if there is disagreement on how to achieve the knowing, loving and serving, the purpose itself should be pretty straightforward.

Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle. Mary, Our Mother, protect us under your mantle.

You do not "know" the Devil -- You have been "taught" about the

devil by people -- most of those people support a man-made denomination (a sub-sect) view of God and the Devil.

You would have never known about these things if someone-else did not nudge you, force you, hand-in-hand guide you.

People lived quite fine (morality wise) for the 90,000 or so years before God decided it was time to intervene.

American Indians, Africans, Eskimo, and Aborigine -- the Nordic Loplander (white aborigines) et al "indigenous peoples" lived quite fine, they laughed, they cried, and they died all without "knowledge" of sin.

so we are told through the bible was disobedient to god
himself,it was not the institution,as there were none yet
blind obedience to an institution or to man is wrong
all religions have failed,as you cannot ask group of
pastors the same question and get a similar answer
jesus when asked about those who sit on the judgement seats
do as they say,not as they do(they were not following god's laws
but expected everyone else too(this is what the fed gov does also)
jesus and his 12 disciples set up the way of the churches
man strayed away from that by injecting pagan rituals
into their services
the 10 commandments were set up as our laws, but what is one to do
when the one who inspired them, broke them?
if man's purpose is to serve and love, how can we,if half the bible
(our instructions in word)have been taken out? and have words
have been changed?

Nope -- Got it backwards

A religious institution (organized group of asset leverage holders) were the ones who created the Bible (it didn't pass down for generations orally then end up in print "all by itself") and from that institution "men said" that the Devil did this or that -- The Bible only says what men tell it to say and only men/women repeat it to the next generation.

Every "mass killer / enslaver" society was a religious one.

Tribal people rarely killed more than a few hundred at a time.

Their "asset leverage" was Money Changing built off of Agrarian Surplus (starch eaters) -- if they just stuck with the Paleo diet and Animism or Skepticism there would be no "current version" modernism/globalism and there'd be far fewer people (paleo eaters did not produce as many kids).

Too true, about the enforced submission ...

... and it leads to war through enforcement, even when the rules are waaaaaaaaaaaay outdated and were first installed to ensure survival through some common-sense measure, like "don't eat pork" when much of it was tainted during a time-window.

There would be little wrong

with the psychiatry industry if its ties to the state were severed. Psychotropic drugs can be useful and can do good (I am proof. I was diagnosed with schizophrenia more than 30 years ago and these medications permit me to live a (fairly) normal life including work and go to school). What is scary is that psychiatrists wield legal and political power. That is how many dissidents in the former Soviet Union were dealt with -- just diagnose them as mentally ill -- well they must be crazy if they have any argument with government policy, right? It is truly hair-raising to see so many normal emotions painted as mental disorders.

I'm getting sick and tired of imbeciles down voting perfectly sane and rational posts. It's way too easy. State your reasons for disagreement.

Because legalizeliberty is annoying

I downvoted because he was bumping up this stupid Mike Adam's rant with a meaningless talking point. "They are preventing me from being free waawaawaa."

Legalizeliberty lives on government welfare and should stop harassing the DailyPaul until he at least gets a job.

I downvoted you for being completely ignorant to these 2 OBVIOUS circumstances and for naively attacking people.

Brandon Raub would probably disagree with you

I'm referring to "Former Marine Arrested By FBI for Patriotic Facebook Bosts," i.e., Brandon Raub, the liberty activist and former-active duty Marine who'd served in Iraq and Afghanistan. If you recall, he was not actually "arrested." He was simply taken against his will from his home (kidnapped might be an appropriate term) and held in custody in a psychiatric ward, where he claims he was harrassed and threatened. A court ruled that he would need to be under psychiatric observation (detained against his will) for at least another month, although his mother hired an attorney (who said this is not unusual but common practice) to appeal his case, and a judge overruled the decision. http://www.dailypaul.com/249464/fmr-marine-arrested-by-fbi-f...

Okay? That doesn't negate all of psychiatry.

Authorities over-step their authority in all facets of society, not just psychiatry.

You are just using emotional logical fallacies to make you point.

"A certain group of psychiatrists violated natural rights of someone, therefore all psychiatrists and all of their practices are wrong."

Why do you put words into

people's mouths? What I said, and maintain, is "Brandon Raub would probably disagree with you." I was referring to your calling legalizeliberty's comment a "meaningless talking point."

FYI, John Whitehead, director of The Rutherford Institute (the Virginia civil liberties organization that defended Raub) said that "every year in Virginia more than 20,000 people are committed under similar circumstances and "that means a lot of people are disappearing" under the pretext of mental illness." (Business Insider: Law & Order http://www.businessinsider.com/lawyer-for-detained-marine-sa...) After the case received nat'l attention, the organization was inundated with calls from around the country.

If you are interested, this Washington Times explains the kinds of things Raub had posted on his Facebook page that got him handcuffed and dragged from his home. Scroll down to "So what did he post? A Facebook note titled “The Truth” lists grievances against the American ruling establishment. Raub expresses his belief that the American principles of limited government and personal liberty are expiring and that corporations and international bankers run the state, not the people..." http://communities.washingtontimes.com/neighborhood/citizen-...

You should get the order of magnitude.

Your problem is (as the psychiatrists love to say) that you think the crimes are small and few. Possibly because you haven't heard your accurate and objective media spout them which they surely would do, right?

Unless you are here to protect their industry, but I am assuming you are a decent if ignorant being.

They would never have allowed Nazi psychiatrists to slip out of their war-crimes and be imported to help control your compatriots.

Their crimes are HUGE and NUMEROUS and not much railed against by their industry.

You had the appalling situations of Bedlam and other institutions of their time, with physical violence not being rare for many decades after that.

We are talking dozens of thousands of people lobotomized by pretty much sticking an ice-pick up behind their eyeballs and scrambling their brains. While they were doing that, did you hear psychiatry as a body protesting, was the media screaming? Once that naturally became illegal they switched to doing the same kind of things with drugs.

There was a post on here a few days ago about a psychoanalyst who collects hard evidence of past existences. He is one of many who DO rail against the crimes of their own profession.

Then you have their inhuman experiments in the Nazi concentration camps. Did you hear them as a body railing against that?

And, Harry Bailey in Australia who killed a couple of dozen people with his "deep sleep" therapy which consisted of drugging them unconscious for a week or two at a time and then electric shocking them. He killed a couple of dozen people that he just somehow forgot to mention till a whistle blower and then public protesters exposed him and he took his own life. Rumor has it that the number of his colleagues in the protest crowds were less than 0.001 percent.

In South Africa they ran concentration camps for black people (under Verwoerd, a Nazi trained psychiatrist). Many of them were declared mentally defective when the prisons started overflowing from people. arrested for not having the right ID papers and they were then put into these private camps and force drugged in a joint venture between the local branch of the Rfellrs bank and the drug companies and the psychiatrists and the guboment.

Then we come to the dozens of psychiatrist who have been convicted for sexually molesting their patients in the name of therapy and several of them while in semi- or unconscious drugged state. ANd others who have been convicted of fraud for hooking people on their drugs and dropping them when their "insurance" ran out.

And the thousands upon thousands of Russian people declared mentally ill and imprisoned for political purposes. I heard a live speech in LA by a guy commissioned by the Russian rulers to find out who was still "mentally imprisoned", post communism, for political reasons. Even though appointed by the current rulers he had his life threatened and on set of his duplicated documents stolen. He fled his country to preserve his life, even though he was carrying out a humane mission designated by his own rulers.

You had Raub recently and stories surface that I haven't checked out yet about thousands of people not being as lucky as he was (mainly to have an outspoken family). It seems it has arrive on your doorstep and you are oblivious to it because you have not yet seen that the people who run pharma, and psychiatry and the media are the same.

I checked out the video someone posted on here yesterday sometime where at a psychiatric conference some time after WWII their leader is saying how he will take over certain broadly pervading fields: education, religion, justice. Those interviewed generally freely admit that they have no way of testing brain chemicals, that their disorders arrive in their diagnostic manual by consensus and that they are not hopeful of cures and that they usually prescribe. DO you see anything wrong with this picture?

I have just scratched the surface of their crimes here.

Don't believe me please, do your own research and see if your post is misaligned in any way. If you feel lazy, just float away with your Prozac.

No self-respecting conspiracy-theorist is complete without this knowledge. Your jails are already full with victimless crimes. You have to start putting them away for other reasons now in places like Alaska (modeled on Siberia).

Why don't you grow up?

I downvoted you because you are such a twit. Usually I only downvote people who are being divisive and not contributing anything positive to a conversation. That still applies, but today I hit the vote to be petty. I really did not get a thrill out of it, don't know what is wrong with you that you do.

I thought it sad

when I came upon this video clip, to hear these people being laughed at when they were obviously (according to the article) suffering from a particular form of HBD. It's a bit worrisome, too, as I can recall times when I myself have experienced that same compulsion. I didn't realize it was considered a disorder, but if psychiatrists "vote" on such things, then that makes it official! :)

When you say,,,

"you thought it was sad"...
I think you mean it triggered your Mental Sadness Disorder

Yes. They actually knew

something was wrong even when I was a child. When my older sisters would play the radio (AM-radio teeny-bopper stuff back in the days of American Bandstand), the songs just made *me* feel sad!
Tell Laura I Love Her http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=sORfB...!
Teen Angel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KG_VIcoiCFA
Sadly, I never outgrew it. As the years went by, I found myself getting choked up at MacArthur's Park, Cat's In The Cradle, Eleanor Rigby, Time in a Bottle, Send in The Clowns, I Will Always Love You...
But it's actually worse than that. I seem to be afflicted with MSD-Type I *and* Type II: Mental Sadness Disorder and Mental Sarcasm Disorder, respectively. Yeah, Rix4Paul, like you'd know anything about that.

Maybe if they try hard enough people will stop realizing how important being emotionally in-tune is? Nah, I think they just end up sounding insane themselves.

This is how they will take everyone's guns away.

It you are ever "evaluated" there is already numerous mental illnesses you can be diagnosed with.

There is no "normal".

No one is normal and apart from Christ's pardon everyone is guilty of some crime and already damned to hell.

The constitution does not prescribe a presidential pardon to carry a gun. There is no litmus test in the constitution to validate one's right to keep and bare arms.

Yet eventually it will be argued that even a pardon can not make one sane. And because no one is sane no one has the right.

Just ask the government if veterans are qualified to own firearms after leaving the service. If they have ever been evaluated by an army or VA doctor for PTSD or other mental reviews they are probably already labeled and documented to be ineligible to own or possess a firearm once the enemy stops shooting at them and they retire/leave military service.

Yet the army will put a gun right back into their hands and send them back to the frontline to finish their commitment before later denying them their rights as free men at home in the states..

This article was painful to read

But I burst out laughing when Mike Adams, who is himself one of the most unqualified quacks to ever give his scientific opinion on the internet, first called psychiatry "quack science."

People are missing the big picture here- Mike Adams is a joke and all of is "reporting" his about 5% truth, 45% sensationalism, and 50% pseudoscience.

Why are 3 NaturalNews articles posted here today?

**By the way, it seems very likely that Mike Adams is affiliated with the Scientology cult, hence his hatred of psychiatry. He denies being a member, but he shares their goofy worldview to the extent that he has collaborated with them.**

Did you check out an article he was referencing?

Yeah, I stopped reading his article after two paragraphs. Too much emotion and fluff.

However, he linked to a source that was much more interesting by Allen Francis ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allen_Frances ).

Psychiatry's latest DSM goes too far in creating new mental disorders.

http://articles.latimes.com/2010/mar/01/opinion/la-oe-france...

As far as I am concerned, that is hearing it from the horses mouth.

I think a reason psychiatrists

want disorders to have such a wide spectrum for so-called mental disorders is to ensure insurance coverage for their clients. What might not be causing one person a problem could, however, be problematic for someone else. BUT, to have such a wide range of typical human emotions *be* listed as symptoms of a mental disorder has the effect of mis-classifying (the majority of) normal, healthy adults who experience the same - rather dangerous because it can be used for nefarious purposes. Apparently it doesn't take much to get someone committed for, at least, "observation." And then you're at the mercy of the system, including re the administration of DRUGS. And since you haven't been "arrested," per se, standard protocol to protect one's rights is claimed to not apply. Namely, these detentions can have a political agenda. We need to heed the past, here. Here's one article on the subject. http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2012/08/governments-indefinit...

Along those lines..

A Doctor can keep you under lock-down for 72 hours at a time, over and over again, even if your religious views do not include the doctor's medical views.

My favorite thing to say regarding Christianity and western psychology is that if Jesus came back today, he would be locked up for having the Jesus complex (which is really really common by the way).

One more thing to add, is that locked-up 'patients' can be given interview/evaluations by an evaluator who may transfer the patient to their own facility, which is a conflict of interest.

I've been told that men used to commit their wives to insane asylums just to get rid of them. (Some old-time farmers would create farming 'accidents', but I'm getting off topic a little).

Over-all, it is scary to have another person decide if you are crazy.

Personally, I believe religious tolerance and tolerating insanity are mutually dependent. The only question is if harm is done towards another. Otherwise, we should be free to believe whatever we want.

Dumbing Deviance Down (DDD) ... and Up.

Btw, thanks for pointing out those links, which I hadn't read. Yes, straight from the horse's mouth! Funny, about the Jesus complex. :)

.....Defining Deviance DOWN

A while ago on C-Span, I heard Anne Hendershott, a sociology professor, tell a story about how she was asked to teach a course on deviance. So she started doing some research and looked for a texbook to use, discovering a general dearth of information on the subject and no up-to-date text: the topic was politically incorrect, taboo.

She recalled Senator Daniel Moynihan's (1993) essay, "Defining Deviance Down." (He'd elsewhere summed it up as deviancy had been "dumbed down.") He'd foreseen some of the consequences. Among other societal conditions (e.g., crime or the homeless), Moynihan gave the example of "broken families."

Studies had shown a clear correlation between achievement and a child's family: those children whose parents had divorced or were born to single mothers (i.e., those who lived in single-parent homes) did not fare as well as their two-parent peers. Now, when divorce/having children out of wedlock had been considered an unusual, or abnormal, family situation, it had had a limiting effect. Until relatively recently, there hadn't been all that many children in such circumstances.

So, it was decided by the DDD'ers that the *reason* children in single-parent homes weren't doing so well was because they'd been "stigmatized." Well, according to that logic, after we "normalized" alternative family structures (successfully accomplished thanks to the media and schools themselves!), there *should* have been a positive effect re the achievement of such students. But that's not what happened.

What happened was that, with the normalization within society of adults' alternative lifestyles, those lifestyles were increasingly adopted. Increasing numbers of children were therefore put in those situations. And... increasing numbers of children began to fare poorly. P.S. Already there had been more black children in single-parent homes; unfortunately, this trend made an already relatively bad situation only worse.

(Moynihan said that people would rather blame poor achievement on education, as there was a lot of money to be had in the concept of "bad schools!" It's common to see "teacher per pupil" ratios when evaluating schools. He suggested that "parents per pupil" was the appropriate indicator. I say... it's both! A double whammy for the current generation, also known as "America's future.")

Getting back to Hendershott, she did teach the course on deviancy, at the same time writing a book herself on the different aspects she covered: "The Politics of Deviance." I recommend reading the book description; it notes that she talks about how pressure groups do the defining, one example being NAMBLA and pedophilia. http://www.amazon.com/Politics-Deviance-Anne-Hendershott/dp/...

.....Defining Deviance UP.

Trying to locate Moynihan's essay, I came across an essay in response, by Charles Krauthammer, that directly speaks to the topic of this DP post on the new DSM V, "psychiatry bible" with broadened disorders:

"...Moynihan is right. But it is only half the story. There is a complimentary social phenomenon that goes with defining deviancy down. As part of the vast social project of moral leveling, it is not enough for the deviant to be normalized. The normal must be found to be deviant. Therefore, while for the criminals and the crazies deviancy has been defined down (the bar defining normality has been lowered), for the ordinary bourgeois deviancy has been defined up (the bar defining normality has been raised)..." http://www.aei.org/article/society-and-culture/poverty/defin...

FYI, Moynihan's essay: http://www2.sunysuffolk.edu/formans/DefiningDeviancy.htm
(I found interesting his take on the prison population.)

Please quote some "Psychiatric Science"...

... if you are so sure it exists.

I can quote you several psychiatrists who admit freely that there is no science behind it and that there disorders arrive in the DMV by consensus. A bit of a bummer, when you consider that millions upon millions are being prescribed anti-depressants that list "depression" as a side effect.

Your illogical cheerleading for them would tend to send me researching anyone that you criticized as I am sure many who might read your words will do when they compare it to their first-hand knowledge of self or associates who have been messed up by their drugs or lobotomies and such.

My first experience of such a disaster was hearing a mother testify how her 9 year old daughter's heart seized up fatally from ever-increasing doses of an ADD med when she appeared "resistant" to their numbing effects.

After encountering hundreds of psychiatric druggies while working with nutrition my opinion is that it does nothing more than numb the senses and emotions.

Psychiatry is a "False Science"

Suicide rates among Psychiatrists are the highest among all types of suicide cases, with the exception of the all these no win wars that our soldiers fight and die for. Many of these soldiers can't deal with the traumas in war. So they get angry, and that anger leads to fear and that fear leads to a greater anger and conflict within the true nature of their inner conscious. They can't deal with it without the proper understanding of how and why that anger got inside.

Suicide rates among shrinks are among the highest for any profession because they are unsuccessful many times. They can't deal with the idea that THEY THEMSELVES, don't know how to cure anyone. They come to realize that all the book learning, years of courses and study was of no use. Without the proper understanding and enlightenment of the causes and effects of ones problems, patients get worse. They may even seek out the advice from other shrinks. When all else fails, they do themselves in or go insane. Many Psychiatrists, discovering the truth that they have no solutions, take advantage of their patients, make them worse, while siphoning off all their hard earned money. Many of these sociopaths go on to become rich and famous and writing a ook or two.

WARNING!! Stay away from these people. Most of them help no one. Mostly, they help themselves to you and tsake your money. Occasionally there are good some enlightened souls, but for the most part they are totally useless and may well do you more harm then good.

WHAT PEOPLE REALLY NEED MOST IN LIFE IS TOUGH LOVE. THE LOVE THAT COMES FROM FIRMNESS, KINDNESS AND AN UNDERSTANDING OF HUMAN NATURE...

It takes a very enlightened person to be able to help someone. You cannnot learn it by reading a book written 100 years ago by someone that was maybe enlightened.

You can not become a saint by reading or studying anything, anymore than you can learn to be a good priest by memorizing the bible.

Memorization of saintly books without the temperance of enlightenment and understanding is a fools game. We have enough bible thumpers (parrots) out there that don't know what the hell they are talking about. All they really have are words from a damn book. Becoming a wise person without understanding or enlightenment is foolish, foolish and dangerous.

"Of books there are many, much learning is of great weariness to the mind." ~ Solomon
