Denver Drug Agent: Our Problems ‘Have Exploded’ With Pot Legalization (video). This story is laughable

THORNTON, Colo. (CBS4) – No matter how regulated marijuana is, now that pot is legal in Colorado it will be hard to keep away from curious and unknowing kids, according to a member of a Denver-area drug task force.

“There’s plenty of evidence that this a harmful thing for kids. I can’t even believe I have to say that,” Sgt. Jim Gerhardt with the North Metro Drug Task Force told CBS4. “We’ve seen children infant age that have been getting into this stuff and hospitalized, and this has been under medical marijuana. I can’t imagine how bad it’s going to get with full blown legalization.”

At Arapahoe House, a drug and alcohol counseling center in Thornton, Angela Bornemann said marijuana use is already the most common addiction in teens they see. She says they are now expecting to see more and more problem dependance cases with the passage of Amendment 64.

Second Hand Smoke

Okay, it cracked me up when I saw some photos of some obvious stoners smoking in front of the Seattle Space Needle after Washington passed the legalization of pot. I am from the 60's, and these guys looked like they never left. haha
So anyway, my point is I don't smoke pot, but I do enjoy quality tobacco cigarettes. But I can't smoke hardly anywhere in public anymore, and even if I could, I was always respectful of others and avoided as much as possible my smoking that may have bothered someone.
Well, now we have people openly smoking pot in public without any respect for someone who may not want to be around it or inhale it as second hand smoke.
Enjoy the freedom of it being legal, but have some common sense about where you choose to smoke it.

Be careful driving through Idaho

A bunch of my friends and I were driving through Idaho, and were speeding. We got pulled over and the cops got us out of the car and made us stand in 10 degree weather while they searched our car. They had about 20 people there, from police to drug enforcement officers, and they found nothing except aspirin. They wouldn't let us get our jackets, so a few of us got really sick, cause we were standing in freezing weather in our t shirts for almost an hour. They told us the dogs lead on to something, but after not finding anything, were going to let us go.

This is true

I live in Idaho and the police love nailing people from WA, OR and MT. I see out of state plates pulled over all the time on HWY 20 between Idaho Falls and Ashton.

The a-holes in this state can't build prisons fast enough for drug offenders. Be very careful. Fonzdrews words are no b.s.

The state police here have these imaginations of I-15 and Hwy 20 as a major drug trafficking corridor. They might be on to something.......the government may use it for just that purpose.

Know your rights and you will win.

And you might want to start

And you might want to start taking video of every interaction with law enforcement. Unless they kill you to get your video, you are protecting your own rights by doing this.

Cannabis Hemp Oil CURES DISEASE

(hey, c'mere)

{it's 'miracle'}

Cigarettes probably wouldn't

Cigarettes probably wouldn't cause cancer if it weren't for the 200+ chemicals they add to the tobacco! I guess if the cigarette companys ever sell pre-rolled cannabis, they'll probably add all kinds of junk to that too!

So do you mix the pot into the batter?

Or pour the batter over the pot?

SWIM said you can add the

SWIM said you can add the corresponding amount of ground pot and butter to boiling water for about 30 minutes, let it cool then pour everything into a big bowl, cover it and put it in the refrigerator overnight. the butter will rise to the top and turn solid, and the plant matter will fall to the bottom. break off the butter and use it like normal in any recipe.

Their solution to this

Their solution to this "problem" that has made the "problem" worse over the past 70 years? To throw people in cages and murder them with swat teams.

i'm all for legalization but

i'm all for legalization but the people who are baking brownies and giving it to unknowning people are messing it up for everyone. thats irresoponsible and disrespectful.

then again their are all kinds of people, and even with smokers there are jackasses who weren't raised with common sense.

If you give someone a drug

If you give someone a drug without their knowledge or approval, that is obviously wrong. I'd avoid accepting brownies from people you don't know.

yeah, like the punch was

yeah, like the punch was never spiked at a party before.

ever have someone put a rock

ever have someone put a rock in a blunt and not tell you? its the same code of ethics that you clearly don't know anything about.

yeah, but alcohol can kill.

yeah, but alcohol can kill. cannabis can't.

I have had something like that happen

and I agree that it's just plain stupid when people do that to you and a quick way to edit out some people from the company you keep.

However, a pot browny will at best just mess with the person's head without a threat they may OD or something on a substance they've never used.

I've had people drop painkillers in my beer without me knowing too when I was a kid and almost died. There is a BIG difference between Drug Users and Drug Abusers.

I had someone lace herb with

PCP and not tell me. I heard the devil that night speak to me. Then the dude in the front seat who had it turns to me and says "do you think I'm the devil?" It was precisely how I was feeling and thinking about this person at the time.

To this day I have no idea how he new what I was thinking unless I was hallucinating- but I swear I didn't say a word I was just listening to my hard pound through my chest.

It brings me back to this question though- didn't they taste the dank in those pot brownies? They don't taste like a regular brownie for sure.

Like when that blunt was laced- it tasted mentholly and wrong- I wish I would've stopped toking sooner than I decided to- scary night for me (no hospital though).

In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot.

I had a similar experience..

Only we thought it was cocaine. My buddy in high school got into his dads stash. Its a really long and funny story but Ill sum it up quickly.

Ive never felt that way in my entire life. My fingers felt 5 times their normal size, I felt like I was walking on clouds and everything... mooovvvvveeeddddd reeeeaaaallll sllllloooooowwwwwwwww

If a person gives you a drug without your knowledge, that is a crime. If you decide to smoke or eat pot.. that is a choice.

Big difference.

'Peace is a powerful message.' Ron Paul

thats pretty much my

thats pretty much my point.

when it comes to drugs some people don't want to be involved, and we should respect that choice. I never tricked anyone into getting high because I respect their decisions.

of course smoking rocks is much more serious than eating brownies but the point is the same... its about respect

Are we talking asphalt here?

40,000 folks die each year of alcohol related problems -- while not one dies of marijuana.

The last bit about the kids being the most comon addiction

First of all not addiction. I thought that the new law has age restrictions. (although i do not recognize any government having such authority to start with) The point is the new law does not change a thing about underage usage. Its a huge pitty ploy. About the cop well discust is my ony response.

Time to get a real job Mr. Denver Drug Agent

Welcome to the productive sector of society.

Hope you have some useful skills.

Good Thing

Good thing it is NOT legal for children to buy, possess, or use marijuana. This guy is preaching to the choir. Nobody is suggesting that children use it.

I think the first couple comments under the article hit it right on. If your entire career depends on capturing drug users, you're going to make sure people believe it is harmful.

“We’ve seen children infant age that have been getting into this stuff and hospitalized..."

Sigh...it's getting bad out there (wonder how the kid uses a lighter).

The law cannot make a wicked person virtuous…God’s grace alone can accomplish such a thing.

They can't tie their shoes...

but they can roll a fatty!LOL!

Right you are

THC becomes psychoactive only when exposed to fire or extreme heat so if an infant simply eats it they're ONLY getting a bunch of nutrients not found in many foods today.

“There’s plenty of evidence that this a harmful thing for kids. I can’t even believe I have to say that,”

Neither can I.

when its used in food, its

when its used in food, its first baked in butter or oil... that is the heat that "activates" it.
