I have known someone on meds...

...that before taking them, was suicidal and has not been since. However, it has been quite a few years of them switching him to many different meds cause none of them were working. He is better a bit, but still has issues both before and after. I really don't know if they helped or hurt him, but I think in the long run he will and has had many health issues because of them.

All of these drugs have a

All of these drugs have a black box warning for suicide. It is already a known side effect of the psych drugs that suicide may result.

I have a family member that went off one of these drugs (I don't know which one they were taking) and committed suicide. It destroyed our family. So coming off them abruptly is an issue, but so is being on them because, according to what I have read, people who are depressed and already considering suicide are lethargic and don't have the energy to carry it out, but once on the drug they do. Personally, I think there are many more factors that contribute to the potential danger of these drugs...most of all it is messing with the processes in the brain. Also, many of the symptoms which are being treated - they are throwing pills at normal problems/feelings like grief, despair, loneliness...instead of working through the issues and feelings.

Nonetheless, despite my caution against these drugs, there may be some applications for them. My young son takes an extremely low dose for offlabel purposes (to increase temporal perfusion) and I have known others who swear by them and say they can't function without them. In our case I will probably wean my son off his med within the next year.

It is very confusing to see someone so troubled. And it seems as if the doctors are always experimenting with people and new drugs. Who even knows the long term effect of taking these? Believe it or not, some friends of mine had a family member on a diet and was consuming large amounts of Aspartame in all his food/drink choices. They said his personality changes so drastic, ha became very annoyed and angry at everything. He realized that was the only thing different that he was doing. He stopped consuming things with Aspartame and my friends said he was back to himself. This too is interesting. I wonder what other things people consume that could also effect their personalities.

Good point. Dr. Russell Blaylock writes and speaks out about

these things. He coined the term "excitotoxins" for artificial sweeteners and flavorings that excite the brain and cause many problems. Dr. Blaylock, world-renowned (now retired) brain surgeon.

The question that should be

The question that should be asked is what caused them to get so screwed up that someone thought they needed drugs?

The answer is child abuse. Look into the histories of any mass shooter or serial killer and they all had horrific, disturbingly awful childhoods, filled with sexual or physical abuse and for sure emotional abuse.

But no one talks about it because it serves no political agenda, and politics can't fix it.

I've mentioned on here before

that in "extreme" cases of ADHD, where Ritalin or Adderol don't work to whomever's 'satisfaction', CHILDREN are prescribed Desoxyn.

if your kid is ADHD / ADD try coffee

seriously. IF a doctor wants to prescribe a drug for ADHD / ADD give the kid a pot of coffee. It should calm the kid down. If it doesn't then your kid isn't really ADD.

I've actually heard that is

I've actually heard that is true, that the drug given for ADHD is a stimulant but for some reason, it calms the behavior out in people with ADHD. Heard that ephedra is used to calm ADHD down too. Weird.

I used to work at a school set up specifically for ADHD kids

you know right before the kids would get sent to a detention center. That was my job right after college.

Anyhow the way it was explained to me by a physiologist that came to talk with the teachers and counselors was : Picture that you have a brake and a gas peddle controlling your actions. Each has its own tank of gas.

Let's say you, a normal person, get awoken from a lovely dream by someone tapping you on the head. You might get woken up with a start and want to punch the person but of course you don't because you realize its your sister and you don't. That's a normal functioning brake peddle with a decent fuel supply.

Now let's say that you have ADHD and you are in the same situation. You are likely to just follow through and punch the person because your "brake peddle" has no gas in it's tank. You are likely to just do stuff that others would find down right anti-social because you simply CAN'T stop to think it through.

NOW what these drugs do is to fill up not only the good gas peddle tank but they fill it up so much that the only other place for the medicine to go as it ambles around your body is into the brake peddle tank.

That's why he was talking to us about caffeine. If a kid in your class wasn't on medication yet and the parents weren't sure about what to do, he recommended that the parents see what happens when they give the kid like a full pot of coffee. It should calm the kid right down. The gas and the brake tank will be full and ready to work properly.

IF it doesn't work it is most likely learned behavior or something else not ADHD.

Coffee makes people hyper like me drugs like ritalin calms you do i think i would know i took those medications before coffee makes me hyper.

Albert Camus — 'The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.'

if you are on medication for ADD/ADHD coffee should make you

HYPER!! The medication does - in effect - what coffee does. But if you are already medicated don't do coffee. :-)

I had a close friend who was

I had a close friend who was taking Lorazepam for depression and a family member told me themselves that they had been "slipping him" Zoloft (thinking they were helping). He told me of some really vivid dreams he was having. One day he called and was crying on the phone; I'm talking extreme depression. Two days later, he sounded calm and ok. The next day, he shot himself. This was in 2000 and it hadn't been reported in the news as far as I know that antidepressants caused suicidal tendencies. I believe without a doubt that the drugs were the cause.

I had a similar experience with my uncle....

I always guessed that the "calm" period was because he had made peace with his decision.
And yes, he was taking anti-depresant medication. Now my stupid cousin (not his son) is taking the same drugs. You can be damn sure I will be sending this video to him.
Many thanks to danyarger@yahoo.com, you may have saved someone's life.

I think you're right about

I think you're right about making peace with the decision. His sister and I both thought he had already made up his mind. He was only like 28 or 29, had his whole life ahead of him. He had gone through a divorce about 6 months earlier and it tore up his world. I met him through mutual friends when I visited my mother in TN; I was living in Michigan at the time. And he was such a nice person. But I remember him telling me he was having dreams about floating in a calm lake inside a volcano or mountain and it was so peaceful. I wonder now if these were visions or dreams. And he told me it was a recurring dream. This was before widespread use of emails; he got really down when I had not gotten a handwritten letter from him until 2 weeks later. I felt like when we'd talk on the phone, I was pulling him up from his bootstraps. That day I talked to him that he was crying, he was upset because he wanted to go hunting on his property and had no one to tell. He was worried that if he fell out of a tree, no one would know. But yet he shot himself only 3 days later? When I spoke to him that day, I have never heard someone so depressed but he didn't say anything about his intentions. His mother was also on anti-depressants and had really odd behavior. Two days later when I talked to him, I actually enjoyed the conversation. He was calm and upbeat. His suicide was not just an attempt. He was really tall and used his shotgun pointed at his heart while he was sitting in a chair. He used his feet to pull the trigger. When I first heard, my first question was how. Being as violent as it was with no way to survive, there was no doubt he intended to be successful. My mother was a nurse and used to answer suicide calls. She told me always let them talk, don't try to talk them out of it; something about the talking about it helps calm them down. But she also said that if a person is willing to take their own life, they are willing to take others' as well. She was glad I was in Michigan at the time.

I'm so sorry.

....these drugs are legal? and Marijuana is not?
Follow the money, you'll find the answer.

OK I cried. WHY!!! do people let their kids take that SHIT!

Why does anyone think they need this stuff. MARKETING? Because they see it on TV every minute?

This video is so true. If anyone comes up to you and starts with the gun control stuff don't even go there. Go HERE instead. Don't even talk about guns or the Constitution. GO HERE to this video.

Wow!! Everyone needs to see this! This is one of the most

powerful videos I've ever seen. Thank you so much for posting!

And there's something else: Graphic violence in movies & TV

I don't doubt the psychotropic drugs can go badly awry and cause suicides and even murderous behavior.

But correlation does not necessarily mean causation.

There are plenty of other things which should be suspect:

Destruction of the family and the community.

Deprecation of authentic religious/ spiritual sentiment.

And ... routine extreme violence in movies, T.V., video games, and books feeding fantasies and desensitizing people to what used to be considered too horrible to contemplate. I remember the first time I saw a graphically violent movie: The Godfather. These days I doubt that would even get a rise out of me but when I first saw the scene with the decapitated horse I remember my heart beating so hard I thought it was going to jump out of my chest. Now I see things much worse and there is virtually no visceral reaction.

As I said, I've no doubt that psychotropic drugs can have extreme blowback; indeed I experienced some of that when I was once prescribed prozac during a period of extreme and continual anxiety. But there are plenty of other things in "modern" society which are also contributing to the problem. I regard guns as the least of the problem.

Bill of Rights /Amendment X: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

Do you need a politician or judge to "interpret" those 28

...especially the video games played in an addictive fashion by the youth and early adulthood. I remember the guy that created the Grand Theft Auto games. He himself said they were meant for someone 30 yrs. and older! People get desensitized from violence...especially undeveloped minds. But there was always war movies that depicted the realities of war.

huge bump

this is a MUST WATCH

Psychotropic drugs R THE cause of this epidemic of mass shooting

Whether they are administered by the CIA (as in the case of James Holmes)...or if they are more 'benign" prescriptions for SSRI class anti-depressants that have been black-boxed for anyone under 30....doesn't matter.

Why this surge (epidemic) in military suicides and this recent swarm of mass shootings?

CIA or not, here is the explanation:

The pharmaceutical companies have figured it out that it is more profitable to keep a bad, dangerous, destructive drug...ON THE MARKET, and pay off lawsuits as needed....than to yank it from the market.

So much for the Hippocratic Oath (we all know Big Pharma doesn't follow that anyway).

Once the dust has cleared from this horrific, disgusting, should-never-have-happened tragedy in CT, it will be found out that the perpetrator monster...was on some sort of psychotropic drugs....guaranteed.

Although this truism does not ameliorate the unimaginable pain of so many people on this sad day...maybe at least it will help people to turn their anger and frustration toward the REAL perpetrators....and bring them to justice.

Hi, could you post a link to

Hi, could you post a link to some evidence supporting the claim that CIA was involved with Holmes? I agree he looked drugged/messed up in court, and I haven't heard anything further on the story, so it seems the media got to put their slanted version out, perhaps as a prequel to CT. But I don't want to be one of those persons that blames every bad thing that happens on the US govt.

Here's a good recent documentary on the subject.
