Adam Lanza "played 'Call of Duty' in windowless bunker for hours"

Sandy Hook shooter Adam Lanza spent hours in his dark basement quarters playing Call of Duty and other violent video games that feature weapons like the ones he used in the Newtown, Connecticut, massacre.

This is according plumber Peter Wlasuk, who spoke to the Sun about his visits to the posh Newtown home Adam shared with his mom, Nancy, and sometimes his older brother, Ryan.

Wlasuk said Ryan occupied the basement before moving out, when Adam took over the military-themed lair:

"The boys were fans of the military. They had posters all over the wall in the basement. They had one poster of every piece of military equipment the US ever made. It was a huge poster with every tank every made. The kids could tell you about guns they had never seen from the 40s, 50s and 60s. The kids who play these games know all about them. I’m not blaming the games for what happened. But they see a picture of a historical gun and say ‘I’ve used that on Call Of Duty’."

"Windowless bunker", "lair", "dark basement quarters."

So this is where the older brother was kept by the matriarch while she lived in the "posh" above-ground living area?
I see.

Really? Is Canada screaming

Really? Is Canada screaming for a ban on assault weapons too? Hadn't heard that one. Link please. I am assuming when you use the words "we" and "us" you are talking about your fellow Canadians.

So only Americans are allowed to Love Liberty?

And trolls like you can have a green light to down-vote all of my posts and comments here every single day?

How you heard of something called the NAU North American Union?
Since you live in NH you should have heard of it -- sarcasm.

Except this is NOT the North

Except this is NOT the North American Union and you are in Canada and its we here in the US who are now dealing with the ban on assault weapons. Yet you say "we" and then link a story about us here in the US and my President talking about assault weapon bans. I was pointing out your obvious lack of integrity and your delusion about American laws affecting you all the way up there in Toronto Canada. You are not part of WE when you are talking about American politics. Please show some integrity with your language and quit including yourself as a victim of American politics. You are not a citizen here, though you obviously like to pretend you are.

I for one

welcome foreign commentary, especially from our Canadabros and Mexibros.

Also, the guy links his twitter account in his sig which shows his nationality. IMO, that suffices.

Not a citizen?

I dot think the UN cares what country you are a citizen of, they want an international ban on all guns. So what if he includes himself in the conversation as an American, what does it matter? Don't be so prejudice.

In the off chance this kid

In the off chance this kid really was the shooter, id be far more intersted in knowing exactly what pschotropic drug he was being prescribed at the time.

There should be a new cliche for mass shooters: "Follow the prescriptions."

I would say she did have some kind of tie with the school. One they did not want to acknowledge.

News reports Friday suggested that Nancy Lanza had worked at the elementary school, but at a news conference on Saturday, the school superintendent said there was no evidence that she had ever worked at the school as a full-time or substitute teacher, or in any other capacity.

The authorities said it was not clear why Adam Lanza went to the school.

"No Evidence"

She worked at the school. What an odd way to phrase it.

The Plumber?

Here is the original article as reported in The Sun, a British tabloid (see: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/4702951/dark-world... ).

Peter Wlasuk, the "plumber" did not state in an interview with a reporter from The Sun that he saw Adam or Ryan play these violent games for hours. I would expect the plumber to be working on whatever he was called to repair, not watching his customer's kids. If he did, I hope he didn't charge the parents by the hour.

How did this plumber come to talk to a reporter and not the police? I would think law enforcement would have interviewed him first. Next we'll be hearing from the electrician, the carpenter, the postman, the UPS or FEDX delivery service and God knows whomever the tabloids come up with.

We must be careful when reading these comments that are designed to foment wild opinion and speculation. Hyperbole is misdirection; we need to focus on confirmed facts as to how and why this tragedy occurred.

Mom was dating the landscaper...

maybe she had a thing with the plumber. Not much chance of meeting many unmarried men in your financial bracket in the suburbs. I hear stories from lots of cable guys and pest control guys about these lonely rich women.

Also, I used to play these games

and still play a very small amount of them these days. I stopped playing Call of Duty games because they make me way to anxious and upset. Those resulting emotional reactions are NOT what GAMES should be about, yet it is so pervasive in almost any genre of video games. Nowadays, I enjoy games with interesting story lines or just comical fun. Yes, some are still full of violence but I like games where to engage in that is the players choice rather than how you progress through the game.

I can almost guarantee that many people could pilot a drone with the virtual training these games provide. The Army puts out their own war first-person shooter game for FREE as a recruitment tool.

It seems we also have a Military Game Industrial Complex. But like in "real" life, people in the industry are starting to take notice and non-violent games are gaining popularity.

my gamer 2 cents :)
