I think we need to ban gun control laws that keep people from being able to protect themselves. ~ Pratt - Transcript

CNN now has a Brit heading the commentary section of their news to comment on American policies.. Nice class, CNN career short lived news executive.

Edit: He is now talking to his CNN lackeys to choir up and feel better.. and he is actually examining the 2nd Amendment on a piece of paper, EXAMINING whether it can tweaked.. unbelievable

Oldie but Goodie

Interview with Ice-T. Relates to this incident.
http://youtu.be/U5EYaW1HZhw

Ice-T said it all

"If someone wants to kill people, they don't need a gun."

How does anyone argue beyond that statement? If automobiles, tobacco, and MEDICAL ERRORS account for more deaths in the US a year than gun deaths, WHY are we even having this conversation at all?

Isn't this about human life and not gun control?

Lima-1, out.

If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

The whole assault rifle, magzine size argument

is ludicrous.

I was laying on the couch wathcing Mankind on History the other night. Civil war rifle - .52 caliber(that is BIG - for you non-gun folks) - able to be fired 12 times PER MINUTE. No magazine at all - heck - no cartridge - that's manual baby. Not sure the ballistics on it - but the range was put in the hundreds of yards(this was not a ball - it was shaped like a bullet) and I can only imagine the lbs of energy was incredible.
So lets do some math. How many minutes of response time x 12 = still 26 innocent dead people and 1 dead, pure evil psycho. Not sure how the assault weapon figures into this. Not sure how the pistols figure into this.

The rifle, the magazine and the bullet are inanimate objects. The wild card here is the pure evil psycho. Let's start focussing on banning medications instead of guns.

And anbody notice the CT State Police response team- they all had assault weapons as well. Funny how we talk of gun control when all these officers(mind you long after the threat was dead) all going power hungry on being able to tout their assault rifles. Did nobody in command think and say "hmm - I am thinking our officers are probably scaring the shit out of these kids at this point - the threat is over - please - all officers rack your firearms". Seems the deepest irony of it all to me.

What an embarrassment

This is what is passing as journalism these days?
Morgan is pathetic.

When you look in the dictionary

under "scum bag", there is a photo of Piers Morgan.

Mikoni

Lets petition the immigration dept.

to revoke this guys visa/green card.. He clearly does not hold any american values and does not deserve to live and work in this country.

Throw the brit out!

Pratt is correct except

...there were 28 victims, including Lanza. Evil monsters are made by companies like Novartis and a government that promotes fatherless homes.

A recap of Adam Lanza:

1. No father
2. On antipsychotic drug (who pushed the drug on him...?)
3. Threatened with being institutionalized

Charge the pharmaceutical company and the psychiatrists who prescribed the poison for the 28 dead.

When young men are turned into monsters those responsible must be held to account to prevent more crimes.

The british attitude to guns

Its not that complicated really. Over here in the UK we have been legally disarmed for over three generations. The results of which have created a society that doesnt think the citizens NEED guns.

I have argued to a few friends, and subsequently won them over to my opinion, that having the right to own a firearm is no different from the right to owning any other inanimate object one would use as a weapon in order to defend oneself and family.

In this country you can be jailed for between 2-5 years just for owning a select few inanimate objects such as knives and firearms.

In this country, if your home is invaded and you are required to defend yourself you can only do so with common household objects. Most people go for a kitchen knife, but radio interviews about the subject throw up all sorts of weapons from golf clubs to the trusty cricket bat.

During the UK riots in the summer of 2011, amazon reported record hits for LEGAL weapons. A %6000 rise in the purchase of baseball bats because the population was fearful of their safety. Shop owners could do nothing to protect their stores as they were broken into and looted. I watched on TV as the police FAILED to protect people and property. One Sikh community came out in force, in a crowd 3 deep to protect their place of worship from destruction.

http://money.cnn.com/2011/08/09/technology/amazon_riot/

Attitude for guns in this country will now never change. There have been far too many generations growing up without the protection firearms can offer to know any different.

It is not easy arguing for the right to bear arms in the UK. It is damn near impossible and a subject i only open up to with close friends and relatives. We argue about the right to defend ourselves in our homes all the time but the subject of guns never enters the fray.

Most people will always defer to the most logical argument in this country with a few exceptions. One of those exceptions is guns.

for some innate reason people in the UK think that guns on there own with no-one touching them are dangerous. they think that the police, and only the police should have them.

Handguns were banned altogether in this country back in 97 in the aftermath of own own tragedy.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunblane_school_massacre

US politicians will no doubt use the tragedy in Newtown to bring the AR15 under the control of the state.

Its more a case of 'ignorance is bliss' in this country. People dont talk about this kind of stuff until the media tells them to and usually after some big tragedy or scandal.

Our government bring in outrageous laws just as much as the US government does, but here in the UK our people are far to apathetic to care until it bites them on the arse!

If you need the 'average limey' opinion again just give me a tinkle.

ta ta.

3 generations, really?

Check out this wiki page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunblane_massacre

"Public debate subsequent to these events centred on gun-control laws, including public petitions calling for a ban on private ownership of handguns and an official enquiry, the Cullen Report. In response to this debate, the Firearms (Amendment) Act 1997 and the Firearms (Amendment) (No. 2) Act 1997 were enacted, which effectively made private ownership of handguns illegal in the United Kingdom."

Is this incorrect?

Yes Really!

There were no Laws on Fire arms until 1903 in the UK. They got progressively more restrictive with additional acts in 1920, 1937 and 1968. The 1997 act was the final nail in the coffin.

Our own Olympic pistol shooting team cant even train in the UK! they have to train overseas because the gun laws are that restrictive in this country. The IOC required an act of parliament for the guns at London 2012.

1903 - 2012 is probably closer to 4 or 5 generations. I was trying to be conservative with just 3 as the use of the word 'generation' in this context is quite subjective.

Thanks for the constructive criticism. I hope my response reasonably answered your query?

That is how they ALL do it

Hannity is the BEST at this - he made an art of it.

When you cannot stand of facts - you resort to name calling.

...and Yelling

...and interrupting and talking over your guest. Follow it up by accusing your guest of being the rude, interruptive, and unreasonable one. Then call him crazy, get the last word, and end the show.

O'liely

is pretty good at it too.

Business

Yes the main stream media is owned by people with motives. However, this is only a problem because most people watch it. We have been offered Piers Morgan, and we have been offered Reality Check. If people at large chose to watch Reality Check and not this garbage, then the hidden motives at these stations would be irrelevant. We, as a society must make that choice.

Seriously? This is how Morgan

Seriously? This is how Morgan goes about debating? Talking over the guest and calling them names? How disrespectful and immature. Pratt destroyed Morgan through sound reasoning and by simply being respectful.

Go home Morgan.

I think the subject line says it all.

Oh, he should be able to stay

Oh, he should be able to stay here, it's just that I'd feel better knowing he was unemployable first.

Pathetic

I've seen this MSM strategy played out over and over again.

Ask the guest an outrageous and insulting strawman question: "So, you think homicidal maniacs should just be allowed to commit mass-murder??" It serves two purposes, 1) smears the guest as a horrible monster who loves mass-murder, 2) flusters and angers the guest so that his/her debate performance is (usually) undermined. Luckily, Pratt handled it very well.

Next, when the guest tries to answer the question, interrupt him/her before they can complete a sentence and just yell over them with more outrageous insulting strawman accusations.

This was such a disgusting and 3rd rate "interview," it was painful to watch and I can't believe this Morgan a-hole can attract an audience. He's not the only one, though. O'Reilly, Hannity, Levin, Limbaugh, Beck, et al, are in the same dirtbag league and it's why I cancelled cable a long time ago. I don't even think any of these people are for real...they're basically actors playing mostly scripted parts. They have their make-up artists, hairdressers, veneered teeth, botox injections, wardrobe specialists...and script writers. They'd no doubt play any part their media bosses told them to. They ooze phoniness and insincerity. I'd be surprised if any of them have a serious educated opinion on anything. They're clowns and their ratings are dropping, dropping, dropping.

You Pretty Much Nailed It

I didn't have to type it bc you already did.

I think Piers is just cranky because he keeps getting pwned

over and over by 2nd amendment types. This is just from a couple of weeks ago, I don't know if any of you guys saw it.

There is a paradigm shift in America largely going undetected

First, I would like to say its obvious why this creeps ratings suck.

Now that I have that out of the way...

Notice how the AR15 and like guns are referred to in the mass media and now among talking circles as ASSAULT WEAPONS. This connotation suggests as written in websters dictionary

ASSAULT:
1. a sudden violent act; onslaught: an assault on tradition

2. Law, an unlawful physical attack upon another,

This paradigm shift was deliberate to leverage public opinion against these tools.

Yes, these are tools not to assault but to defend ones liberty. They are tactical tools or tactical weapons.

I propose we fight this war of words and call them what they are. DEFENSE WEAPONS.

DEFEND: to ward off attack from ; guard against ASSAULT or injury : the sentry defended the gate against sudden attack.

DEX is for Defense Weapons

For Freedom!
The World is my country, all mankind is my brethren, to do good is my religion.

I love how the graphics also

quantify the bushmaster as semi-automatic.

Um- I am pretty sure those other two pistols are semi-automatic as well - they just don't look as "scary" - so they must not be able to assault you as well.

you nailed it...

Let's promote that line of thinking! Are we not aware of Satan's devices?

Why are these guns to be banned called "assault" weapons? Define "assault" in the dictionary, and then ask yourself why can only the government have "assault" weapons, unless their intention is to "assault" someone....eventually....just in case....is it ever "necessary"? Which "side" will "lay down their weapons first, for....the sake of PEACE of course?"

*ahem*>>>Note to Trolls...

...we do not side with Larry Pratt because he was "bullied", or a "victim" of name-calling....

It's real simple: the criminal element is deterred, before and during their act of violence when the mechanism of self-defense (lawful gun ownership) is not impeded.

We do not "win" this argument because we call Morgan "stupid", or an "idiot" like a child on a playground, we simply own the moral majority position on this argument because it was falsely created and further sensationalized by PAID servants of the so-called opposition that denies they would be thankful if the same deterrence methods were employed in their defense of a criminal element....case and point....the war on terror everywhere at all times, against "extremists"; which is how the NRA and the politicians being tapped to "stand with them" tomorrow, will paint Larry and us increasingly from this point on.

There will be no end to these tradgedies until ONE of these sides gets b"their way"; by consent or conquest....hold FIRM gang, because we know they're going into bully-mode; that is WHY Larry laughed at him!

Great Opportunity To Engage

Each time a deer pops out for a drive-by opportunistic hit, we should be ready to launch a boomerang of facts that will turn them around.

Larry Pratt has done a fantastic job in getting the message out.

An effective tactic that we could add, whenever there are name callers like Morgan, is the Socratic technique.

Instead of talking over a closed minded person like Morgan, we could ask, "Do you think that these facts are wrong - that America has the lowest crime rates in the world in areas dominated by guns? Are you saying that the statistics are wrong when they point to gun free zones in America as the most dangerous places to be on earth?"

I have found that asking questions gives you a better chance of snapping people out of their fantasy than just throwing out random information and opinions.

Wow

that was the most insulting "interview" I have seen, maybe ever. This guy should get the axe from CNN. I guess when piers' talking points were being destroyed the fear set in and all he could think to do was call names and shout down Mr.Pratt. What a juvenile jerk mr. morgan is. piers, please feel free to go back to England where you'll be safe from guns.

I have not signed any of the "petitions" that have had so much attention as of late, but I had to sign the one to send piers back home. Too funny...I would love to see it get enough votes to gain some attention.
