Pope gives early Christmas present to pedophiles.

Edit: This article appeared in December 2010. It was an early gift 2 years ago that is still giving.

http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/world-news/popersquos...

“In the 1970s, paedophilia was theorised as something fully in conformity with man and even with children,” the Pope said.

“It was maintained — even within the realm of Catholic theology — that there is no such thing as evil in itself or good in itself. There is only a ‘better than' and a ‘worse than'. Nothing is good or bad in itself.”

WHO ELSE HERE WAS ALIVE IN THE SEVENTIES? PEDOPHILIA WAS A CRIME. The only way it was put into "better than" "worse than" context was in the sentence "There is not much worse than a pedophile."

Now, tell me there is no conspiracy to make pedophilia "normal."

Another quote, from the POPE:
“We cannot remain silent about the context of these times in which these events have come to light,” he said, citing the growth of child pornography “that seems in some way to be considered more and more normal by society” he said."

What a surprise. FishyCulture

What a surprise.

FishyCulture with another pedophila post.

lol

don't fall for such obvious baiting

Total BS propaganda (btw that speech was in 2010). The context of the quote shows the pope clearly arguing against that mentality, he is basically saying "there were people trying to normalize pedophilia back then, and that was wrong; there were people trying to say there was no such thing as good and evil, that was wrong". in the 70's there were lots of people, especially psychologists, trying to argue that point, trying to de-criminalize and normalize things like pedophilia, that's a fact.

Here's the full text: http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/benedict_xvi/speeches/2010...

Whatever you think about the Pope, this is clearly a garbage article, similar to articles that accuse Ron Paul of being racist. Taking quotes out of context to make it look like he's promoting things he's actually arguing against is the worst kind of bs.

He is justifying the church's history of pedophilia!

"In order to resist these forces, we must turn our attention to their ideological foundations. In the 1970s, paedophilia was theorized as something fully in conformity with man and even with children. This, however, was part of a fundamental perversion of the concept of ethos. It was maintained – even within the realm of Catholic theology – that there is no such thing as evil in itself or good in itself. There is only a “better than” and a “worse than”. Nothing is good or bad in itself. Everything depends on the circumstances and on the end in view. Anything can be good or also bad, depending upon purposes and circumstances. Morality is replaced by a calculus of consequences, and in the process it ceases to exist. The effects of such theories are evident today. Against them, Pope John Paul II, in his 1993 Encyclical Letter Veritatis Splendor, indicated with prophetic force in the great rational tradition of Christian ethos the essential and permanent foundations of moral action. Today, attention must be focussed anew on this text as a path in the formation of conscience. It is our responsibility to make these criteria audible and intelligible once more for people today as paths of true humanity, in the context of our paramount concern for mankind."

This is the article that got my posting privileges revoked:

the popes mouth piece

stated that the young ones aren't inherently
gay,as they were to young to know the difference, meaning they wreren't wronged,as they were too young to
know the difference
what he meant was this, they hadn't reached puberty
so them kids didn't know it was wrong for the priests
to bend the boys over to do their bidding,so if they didn't know it wrong ,well then it wasn't,as they didn't reach puberty
in other words had them boys reached manhood, then and only then would
involuntary rape be wrong

Go Back

..and read it again....you clearly have
(a) an agenda to stir up anti-christian sentiment
...or....
(b) a problem with reading comprehension.

Posts like this do little to foster credibility with this movement, this forum of ideas, this website.
Especially at this time of year, they seem to attempt to create divisiveness....NOT truthfulness AND HONEST DISCUSSION.

QUESTION:
WHY????......and during this Holiday Season???

seriously?

you are going to equate the pope with
Christianity?
they are as different and apposing as night and day
'especially this time of year"?
what time of year, the winter solstice? a time when most pagan/false gods were born?
this is not the birth of Jesus,it is the the remembrance, and observance of paganism
the catholic church has called for mass genocide of millions
upon millions of Christians because they refused to convert
why did they kill the Christians? this was done to cripple the true
believers and to further the gods of Babylon's agenda
and they have also gone so far as to purge the bible of truth
by means of the Nicene creed
what do you honestly think the inquisitions were for?
this was their attempt to force the believers into denouncing
their faith and embracing paganism

Deacon: Funny You Should Ask

..But yes...to many "CHRIST-ians" the Pope is a symbol of Christianity to them...Are not Catholics considered Christians?
But that in itself, along with your rant, is not what I am replying to.
Let's stick to the original statement I made concerning the "context" of the aforementioned "speech", which is supposedly from 2010.
It addressed pedophilia much the same way as the late Daniel Patrick Moynihan, who, although being a liberal NY Democrat, wrote a book decrying the "legitimization" of "deviant behavior" in American Society....and some years ago his book was published.
The Pope's speech was along the same lines of thought;NOT what your interpretation alleges...and it's as clear as day, in that regard.
Either your prejudices are clouding this, or your reading comprehension is to blame.....That's for you to figure out.
Religion is a very deep subject to discuss, but I dare say that you choose willingly to ignore the millions of Catholics, who although choosing to recognize the Pope as their "leader", are still Americans who have the same beliefs politically as you and I, and many here.
Your tirade against the head of their church, at this time of year, and in this manner does little to foster a partnership toward a return to Constitutionally-adherent government.
We don't have to kiss somebody's a$$ to win them over...but insulting divisive language certainly is inappropriate.
It's not how Ron Paul would do it.

danton,while we can

disagree on how PC or not i am
and we can disagree on the pope
i didn't say there were no catholic
believers
i said the observance of Christmas is a pagan
holiday(this isn't Christianity)
you can also denounce me for this time of year
but all who celebrate the pagan holidays as holy
are being led astray and into sin
take a look at thins link,i while it is not mine,i have
studied this topic for many years

http://www.dailypaul.com/265163/christmasthe-greatest-story-...

where i choose to ignore anyone?
you tried hanging that around my neck without even knowing my background, what you chose was,oh he must be an atheist,as he is attacking and leveling charges against the pope
but instead of seeing if their might a shred of truth in statement
you got irritated at me,and all for seeing what others should be seeing
"remember the feasts of the lord""keep them holy"
"all my people perish for lack of knowledge"
