This is a new CNN piece about the Vietnam War and the Gulf of Tonkin. This piece seems like a rebuttal to what Ron has been saying. Does anyone else have any ideas why this just came out all the sudden? This seems very odd to myself for this coming out right now...

Confirms exactly what Dr. Paul was saying. A staged (or sloppily communicated, if you want to believe that) incident provoked Viet Nam.

Healthnuttie for Ron Paul

The lip of truth shall be established forever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment...Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are His delight. Prov 12:19,22

i cant even pay attention to what they are saying

Because the commentators look so unqualified to talk about it. They can't find anyone more credible than these two goons to discuss such a serious topic? When I'm watching that, all I can think to myself is, whatever they're saying, they must be trying to manipulate me. So the best thing to do is not watch it, buy a book by a credible author instead.

The gov declassified docs in

The gov declassified docs in 2002 that proved that the they had embellished the story of the "Gulf of Tonkin Incident".

How The Pentagon Planted a False Hormuz Story

Analysis by Gareth Porter

Senior Pentagon officials, evidently reflecting a broader administration policy decision, used an off-the-record Pentagon briefing to turn the Jan. 6 U.S.-Iranian incident in the Strait of Hormuz into a sensational story demonstrating Iran's military aggressiveness, a reconstruction of the events following the incident shows.

IT IS INTERESTING THAT THIS "INCIDENT" HAPPENED THE DAY BEFORE NH.?

Proves Ron Paul right,... again

The 2nd attack that propelled us into the Vietnam Conflict "never happened". Miscommunication, vague translations, mistakes... major consequences and many tens of thousands dead. Again, based on an attack that never happened.

Ron Paul is right again.

wants are unlimited, means are scarce...

***wants are unlimited, means are scarce...***

It means that Dr Paul opened a can of worms

This means that someone checked out exactly what Dr Paul stated about not being so hasty with Iran and to remember the Gulf of Tonkin which now appears to be a misunderstanding and miscommunication by our military that sent us into the Vietnam war which killed almost 60,000 Americans, my friends, my neighbors and my classmates because of our stupid, warmongering Government that NEVER learns a lesson on the fact that maybe they are wrong or that they WANT to fight wars! This information makes me sick to my stomach and I am disgusted with the American government.

not a rebuttal. the story backs up what ron paul said.

You need to study the people and the era

Historical conclusions about Johnson and Kennedy tend toward inaccuracy.

Link. Read all of it because any good researcher finds at least three sources and reads ALL of them before beginning to form a conclusion.

A small group within our government has been up to no good for a long time.

Disinformation is the key part of the game.

Yes, the Iran boat thing might have been an attempt at creating a war.

It may have been nothing that was seized upon by one of the members of the same group within our government whose interests are served by more war.

Keep in mind that there are elements within our military leadership who want NOTHING to do with another war and would welcome the end of the wars we are in now.

We are in Afghanistan and Iraq because a very small group at the top of our government forced it. This same group is NOT popular with many within the highest ranks of the United States military.

If you choose to pursue this topic or anything similar, you must, as I advised above, research it from numerous sources and perspectives. This is the only way to be kept from the ocean of disinformation that has been seeded into all significant historical events. The Wik article above seems relatively accurate but, does make conclusions that might be challenged.

Truth is really cool because it sets you free and then you can set everyone else free.

Beware of people who "tell you what happened." They are giving you their version.

Unify

the funny thing is...

most military guys hate war. The civilians running the show do. Seems counter-intuitive, but that's been my experience. After all, who ends up maimed and dead? It ain't the CFR.

:)

tstorey I understand your reply, and thank you for it:)...I do understand what is and what is not going on, however, my question more focuses on why this information via CNN is being exposed in this fashion. I am far from a conspiracy theorist, I however try and read into everything the way the writer of this piece might have. I am looking at the subtle nuances of a piece like this, and why, or why not it reflects or tries to diminish what Dr. Paul has been saying.

Ron Paul did mention it

in the last debate. I'm not putting any stock into the idea that it's a timing tactic.
