Where is Ron Paul Expected To Finish in SC?
Submitted by Dugg on Wed, 01/16/2008 - 23:23I know Huckabee has a large Baptist following - Thompson has been living here for a month - McCain will probably draw a lot of old red necks who think Muslims might be ready to march down their street and take over...
Any hope for top 3?

If You're Asking Me
Vote RON PAUL 2008
___________
I'd expect him to finish FIRST. I've been expecting that in all the locations.
I'm sure there are people there in SC that have an awareness of who RON PAUL is and why he would be the best candidate for president (why he would be the best choice for president -- period) // at the same time I'm not really so naive to not see that there is an ongoing effort to push him to the background like has already been done at those other locations aforementioned.
I saw McCain's smiling face this morning on CNN with Senator Lindsey Graham (R/SC) standing smiling in the background (a different kind of background than I mean when I say they intend upon pushing RP there, of course).
I'll say again, though, I'd expect RON PAUL to come in FIRST in South Carolina -- if only those folks would vote their honest concern for the best guy for the job. Kinda hard to weed out who that truly is when we have the main focus being on certain others and being done by a media that is biased to the core.
Who truly knows in advance what the hell the results will be? CNN might. FOX News might. Diebold might (sorry, couldn't resist that).
Vote RON PAUL 2008
Dr. Paul drew about 2000
Dr. Paul drew about 2000 people to the Patriot Point Rally a couple of months ago and then another 2000 to 2500 at the College of Charleston Rally. He is suppose to be here tomorrow for a Veterans Rally and hopefully that will draw some good response.
As far as Charleston goes I think the support is here, but I can't speak for the rest of the State.

Based on Google traffic, SC is not looking good. Way too much huckabee.

Best state yet?
Kent Snyder was recently interviewed - I can't remember where I heard it, but think it was rprradio. Anyway, it was after Iowa. He said he was fairly optimistic about New Hampshire and Nevada, but was "extremely" optimistic about South Carolina. So, this makes me think he should do better there than anywhere else so far.
Also, I remember a rally at Clemson sometime in October or November that drew 700 people. I did a little analysis with the student population of Clemson and figured that he probably had about 12% of the vote there. Of course it was based on numerous assumptions.
Long story short, I think he can get over 10% and maybe 11% in South Carolina. I'd say that will be enough for 4th again. It depends on what happens to Huck/Fred. If they split fairly even, he might be 5th, but if that happens 3-5 will be knotted up pretty tight.
Just my thoughts
Thoughts.
College of Charleston will likely love his position on the war on drugs and the war on terror. He needs to really appeal to the old money there with a no tax approach. I think Dr. Paul's best defense is a good offense. He needs to continue to challenge the other candidates on the notion that they are true conservatives.

Because SC is in the Bible Belt
Huckabee will come out first sadly.
1. Huckabee
2. Romney
3. McCain
4. Thompson
5. Paul
6. Guiliani
I was in SC
I was in Charleston last weekend. Made the trip down with some people from the NYC meetup. Issues that are huge with south carolinians are:
Gun control- the brady bill, trigger locks etc do not sit well with people
immigration- people want to stop illegal immigration no amnesty
the economy
states rights issues
I canvassed about 200 homes while i was there, almost everyone knew who Dr. Paul was. We even converted a few obama folks.
We met only a few people who were not receptive to dr. paul's message
Remember this, the blimp has been down there for the past month. Paul has been advertising like crazy there, and has 3 campaign offices that have been working non stop. trust me when i was in charleston we got no sleep over the weekend we were so busy.
I'm hoping for a 3rd or 4th and i think that is totally possible after seeing what is going on first hand.
the dude abides.
the dude abides.
Oh Man
That is good to hear. Very cool that you took part in that.
I wanted to go see RP today in Rock Hill but it is sleeting and a half day of school for the kids - not to mention 90 miles away. I'm hoping he is somewhere else in the state tomorrow.

McCain reads all his lines.
Have you noticed that?
I think Paul will be 4th or 5th in SC 9 or 10 percent of the vote.
Rudolfo last again.
Huckster is making waves in the state.
Thompson old politics.
Mclaim might not show well.
Romney...Paul 4 or 5th.
Again Rudolfo last.

Maybe we can send them some articles by Pastor Chuck Baldwin, like this one:

McCain gets some minor heckling about Confederate Flag vote
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080116/ap_on_el_pr/mccain_confe...
You should check out a site called,
realclearpolitics.com. It has all the latest polling data and all kinds of articles. Now, conspiracy rants and "they-only-count-landline" theories notwithstanding, the polls have been relatively accurate about RP's numbers. And right now, that website has RP polling around 5%-6%, well behind McCain, Huckster, Romney, and Thompson. The good news is that right now Dr. Paul is slightly ahead of Guiliani. So, while I would love a 4th place finish (or better), I think our realistic goal should be to beat Guiliani again, which is definitely achievable.
The other good news is Thompson is getting the pants beat off him by the Huckster in South Carolina and Florida, which means it is only a matter of time until Thompson bites the dust.
McCain and the Confederate Flag
McCain is not making friends in South Carolina. To me it's rediculous to even be wound up over non-issues like flag-waiving when our very infrastructure is falling apart, but whatever. It may help Dr Paul. (or thompson / huckleberry) http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080116/ap_on_el_pr/mccain_confe...
"SPARTANBURG, S.C. - John McCain on Wednesday sharply defended his opposition eight years ago to the flying of the Confederate battle flag over the South Carolina state capitol in Columbia, brushing aside protests that dogged him at campaign events and suggesting most people in the state don't want the issue reopened.
Several protesters aggressively waved Confederate flags at McCain's bus procession as it arrived for campaign events in Greenville and Spartanburg and passed out literature recalling McCain's April 2000 call for removal of the flag from atop the South Carolina statehouse.
The dispute became an issue in the 2000 presidential contest as McCain waged a losing battle in South Carolina against then Texas Gov. George W. Bush. The flag was subsequently moved and now is displayed elsewhere on the statehouse grounds.
McCain was confronted about the 2000 dispute at a town-hall style meeting by a questioner who said, "I'm one of the guys passing out the papers" and he believed McCain's position was wrong.
McCain said he "could not be more proud of the majority of the people of this state" who agreed the flag should be removed. Although the questioner, who identified himself as John William Hill, 51, of Charleston, got some scattered applause for his question, McCain's response produced a wave of applause that drowned out further comments from his critic.
Later, McCain told reporters, "I believe the issue has been resolved in the minds of the overwhelming majority of the people of South Carolina. You can tell from the crowd reaction. They don't want it reopened."
"
Don't forget that the South has not trusted the
federal government since the Civil War. And, rightly so, it seems to me!
I think RP might have a better showing than anyone expects.
He's got my vote
I lived in Maryland all my life and nobody cared about politics. It's been really exciting being in SC for this election and having all the candidates come here. There's one BBQ place a mile down the street that has had McCain, Thompson and Huckabee on seperate occassions and allowed me the opportunity to stand outside and wave my RP sign. I was also lucky enough to get to meet Dr. Paul and hear him give a speech.
From what I've honestly witnessed around the Columbia/Lexington area - I've seen many RP signs - with equal amounts of Huckabee/McCain signs and nearly as many Romney's. Only a sparse couple Rudy's and Hillary's. Zero Obama's or Edwards. But surprisingly - Thompson signs seem to be everywhere. I've heard Lexington County is the 2nd most republican county in the USA. I'm praying we finally get an upset and have all the new voters/college kids show who aren't registering in their polls.
4th at best
McCain, Huckabee, and Thompson will be fighting for the top spot, meaning we Paul supporters could only come in 4th again at best, beating Romney and Giuliani. I would expect a 5th place finish, just to be safe.
don´t they use touch screen
don´t they use touch screen voting machines there ?
if they do, videotape when you vote on it.. or better yet try to get rid of them if legally possible

Touch Screen Voting
This is a good idea. Everyone with a camera phone could take a picture as they vote.
Trying to stamp the fire out slowly
More of the same. 10% IA then 8% in NH where he was polling at 14% then 6% in MI where jobs going overseas, huge housing and unemployment issues and huge Arab/American population. The more a state should favor RP, the worse we perform. The problem starts and ends with computers. (mine works fine day in and day out but these diebolds must be much more complicated...having to perform such a hard task as counting) The fat cats are lounging together with their cuban cigars watching the primary results rolling in with shit eating grins from ear to ear knowing that RP finishes with 4% in SC.
4th or 5th
Currently Ron Paul has about 5% in SC but considering he has consistently beaten Giuliani and Thompson, I expect him to do pretty well compared to them, despite being tied with Giuliani and behind Thompson.
Chances are the rankings will look something like this.
1. McCain
2. Huckabee
3. Romney
4. Paul
5. Thompson
6. Giuliani
Keep your fingers crossed. If we keep consistently beating Giuliani and Thompson we can do very well during Super Tuesday. MAYBE even overtake Huckabee, but we'll see.
Just remember
The first revolution wasn't very popular either....
.... in the beginning. ;)
I don't see how any of us
I don't see how any of us can predict it, based off the perverted polls being published
???
Well I guess my thought process is all so very subjective within my own reality, so I say 1st place!!! However, the objective reality of our new friendly voting machines might make it a paradox of reason and manufactured reality…
