Hey Piers! The most violent country in Europe is...

The most violent country in Europe: Britain is also worse than South Africa and U.S.

Britain's violent crime record is worse than any other country in the European union, it has been revealed.

Official crime figures show the UK also has a worse rate for all types of violence than the U.S. and even South Africa - widely considered one of the world's most dangerous countries.

The figures comes on the day new Home Secretary Alan Johnson makes his first major speech on crime, promising to be tough on loutish behaviour.

The Tories said Labour had presided over a decade of spiralling violence.

In the decade following the party's election in 1997, the number of recorded violent attacks soared by 77 per cent to 1.158million - or more than two every minute.

The figures, compiled from reports released by the European Commission and United Nations, also show:

  • The UK has the second highest overall crime rate in the EU.
  • It has a higher homicide rate than most of our western European neighbours, including France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
  • The UK has the fifth highest robbery rate in the EU.
  • It has the fourth highest burglary rate and the highest absolute number of burglaries in the EU, with double the number of offences than recorded in Germany and France.

But it is the naming of Britain as the most violent country in the EU that is most shocking. The analysis is based on the number of crimes per 100,000 residents.

In the UK, there are 2,034 offences per 100,000 people, way ahead of second-placed Austria with a rate of 1,677.

I´m sorry to desterb your ´´We love guns´´ party, but

please stop doing if guns are the joy of society. Guns are jused 10 times more for assault, then for defense in the U.S. And you now wich guns are jused for defense almost al the time. Handguns!!! Not automatic machineguns.
And if you´re pleading for restrictions on machineguns you´re an idiot? I'm sorry but some people just don't want to open there eyes for reality.

(I'm European by the way)

One word for you...........

One word for you...........
Switzerland.

complete lie

In fact it is the complete opposite they are used in self defense far more often.

Criminologist Gary Kleck estimates that 2.5 million Americans use guns to defend themselves each year. Out of that number, 400,000 believe that but for their firearms, they would have been dead.

Professor Emeritus James Q. Wilson, the UCLA public policy expert, says: "We know from Census Bureau surveys that something beyond 100,000 uses of guns for self-defense occur every year. We know from smaller surveys of a commercial nature that the number may be as high as 2 1/2 or 3 million. We don't know what the right number is, but whatever the right number is, it's not a trivial number."

Former Manhattan Assistant District Attorney David P. Koppel studied gun control for the Cato Institute. Citing a 1979-1985 study by the National Crime Victimization Survey, Koppel found: "When a robbery victim does not defend himself, the robber succeeds 88 percent of the time, and the victim is injured 25 percent of the time. When a victim resists with a gun, the robbery success rate falls to 30 percent, and the victim injury rate falls to 17 percent. No other response to a robbery – from drawing a knife to shouting for help to fleeing – produces such low rates of victim injury and robbery success."

Jor Jerupean? Is Dies True?

Jor Jerupean? Is Dies True? Jour statistiks are nicht korrigieren, buddy. And yes, if you want restrictions on any personal firearm, you are an idiot. I am Illinoisian by the way.

Long live the Milky Way Union!

Well...

I'm in Europe at the moment so tell me where you are and I'll come show you why it's important to have the ability to protect yourself!
I'll let others tell you why we have and love the 2nd Amendment!

When Fascism goes to sleep, it checks under the bed for Ron Paul!

I don't think that statistic is correct..

10 times? It's very hard to get reliable statistic on such things.
I'd imagine that failed to take into account that 91% of the time a shoot is even fired and often the weapon is not drawn. Many many of these evens also go un-reported. It's so easy for researchers to skew stat's.

This research seemed pretty good it's limited to news reports but at lease it's documented events not hearsay.

Restrictions on machine guns? well there's already lots of those besides a machine guns are hardly ever used in crimes.

But as for semi-automatic rifles weather people like it or not the whole idea of the second amendment is that the people are militarily effective, it's more about preserving the Bill of Rights and the Republic than about personal defence.

(I'm British by the way)

Oh!

Your a brit? Like that matters to us...

I don't mean to be rude...

... but there's a name for Europeans that didn't want to be a bunch of gutless serfs. They're called AMERICANS.

The .223 Bushmaster that the lunatick Adam Lanza

used is legal under Connecticut's assault weapons ban.

"according to a 2004 study sponsored by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ). FBI numbers indicate that rifles of any kind (not just "assault weapons") are used in less than 3 percent of murders. Even killers with multiple victims are much more likely to use ordinary handguns than "assault weapons.""

I do think though that there should be strict background checks on anyone wanting to purchase more than ten-round magazines on AR's and purchasers should be required to at least be encouraged to keep such magazines under lock and key (you don't need a thirty-round magazine for home defense).

any way to get this to that

any way to get this to that pompous ass?

Let's start this rEVOLution already!

Time to GET THE FU** UP!!

Sorry, was just listening to music.

"SO GRAB YOUR GUN....AND FOLLOW ME.

I just wish EVERYTHING,
Was THIS EE-ZZ."

I feel like I could punch Eric Holder in his fast and furious mouth and get away with it. Not gonna try, though.

Lima-1, out.

P.S. Who gives a fu** about Piers Moron? Let's tell DHS he's a threat to our National Security and deport his ass.

If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

LOL All the false flags, lies,

and staged events are increasing gun sales all over America! We have the right to defend our loved ones. Every man and women should be thoroughly trained and armed.

Piers - enough already!

CNN can just find another host form Brooklyn to replace him! A new Larry King would be my preference. If he returns to his Great Britain, where a high crime rate may find him robbed or beaten, without a gun to dissuade his attackers, maybe this would change his outlook on guns.

Show him

Switzerland's crime rate....Way down! They should be the example for the world. You are wasting your time on Morgan, he's to stupid to comprehend something so simple!

This should be all over twitter!

I just put it out there. Thanks for posting

In addition

As Nigel pointed out, on January 1, 2014 the borders of the UK will be opened up to 29 million more people from the countries of Romania and Bulgaria. More trouble is thus surely to follow.

Not bad news

they have less crime there. So it would be a benefit to britain ;)

Under reported crimes

Those countries are notorious for it along with the other Balkan states.

I am sure that under cutting the other East Euro labor that has been in the UK living in garbage conditionis for years is not going to cause any tensions. ;)

The Roma for example are going to cause disturbances imo.

Some countries have taken them in on humanitarian grounds and many end up in jails or are deported.

These people have been discrimminated against for so long I do not think they really give a damn about contributing much imo.

EU Nations..

have no borders... But England does still has a lot of water to cross. But it's a short fairy ride. less than €60

Failing Economy Dominated by Global Banking

The UK has become a one-trick pony: Global finance. Not good for the average man especially with the news on Libor and banks laundering narco-pounds & narco-dollars.

The UK is a mess. Used to be an innovator, now just a finance pimp.

"One resists the invasion of armies; one does not resist the invasion of ideas" Victor Hugo

Correct - But the UK's fault alone. We're all to blame.

The banking system is all about usury. This will go on as long as people don't recognize what money is. Promissory obligations. Banks issues promissory notes to us and charges us interest without giving up any of its own equity? It can't as you are the only true obligor? Eventually this system will cause monetary failure as the circulation of money/promissory notes in the system will have to cover an ever increasing pile of debt both in the public and private sector.

It's simple logic this can't go on and can be proven with even simpler math. It's known as multiplication?

We must take back the right to issue our own promissory notes/obligations if we are ever to stop our corrupt governments owned by the central banks. I say owned because the state borrows money into circulation ultimately from who?

...and....

....they have cameras watching everyone publicly, constantly....

BBC news

After UK banned handguns.... handgun crime increased 40%.

For each new law

you will have to pay more in tax. Simple. When the legal system is told to act on new legislation it is more 'work' - This must be paid for by who?

A thing that makes me smile a bit. The 'Drug War'. Can anyone imagine the state to legalize naturally occurring plants? lmao

Are they to become legal entities then? Yes, in fact they are if we demand them to be legalized. Simply due to the fact it then becomes part of all the other fictional rules known as 'law'

I'm sorry folks. We've lost it completely.

We don't get the simple money con. we don't get the simple legal con.

God have mercy on our souls!

LOL

I can't see Americans going along meekly with Obama's exec orders on guns. In fact more guns are being bought all the time. I even bought long guns because of all the killings and wars and Obama acting like a dictator, and I do not live in the USA! LOL
