Remember the Homeless Animals Today
Submitted by Fed-Up on Sat, 12/22/2012 - 13:39Liberty-minded friends, if you can provide a good home for a homeless animal, please do so. I am concerned that many wonderful pets will be put to sleep so that those who normally care for them can take a well-deserved holiday break. They will reward you many times over with unconditional love, as many of you can attest to.
To keep this in view, how about submitting your favorite animal names?
For cats, mine are "Gulliver" and "Dilly". Now, we need some for dogs.

I worked for awhile with
I worked for awhile with animal shelters bringing dogs in kill shelters from the south up here to New England. I used to have a Pit-Boxer named Kaizer(his name is now tattooed on my wrist. I now have rescue dogs, a Pit-Boxer named Sonny, a Pit-Black Lab named Tyson, and a Puggle Named Maxximus. I saved Tyson from being euthanised (sp) when he was just 5 weeks old. I don't know how people can do such things to these beautiful creatures. I wish we could save them all.
Thank God for people
like you and Donvino! How I wish that others would consider following your good example. If people only understood how much love abides in those lovely, trusting little hearts, we could save them all.
Blessings to you both, and to Kaizer, Sonny, Tyson and Maxximus!

I know I could never kill a healthy dog. Those people who do it, feel bad for their kids. Not much joy there imo :(

Encouraging to see this post.
I used to own and operate a pet supply store that did not sell animals. We left our store open to our local animal shelter and other pet adoption groups to hold adoption events in our store whenever they wanted. It was a win-win situation for all parties involved. After 2 years,my business partner and I had to sell the business because we were barely getting by and she just had a baby. But it was a good learning experience and it is always good to see pet supply stores that shun selling animals and work with adoption groups to find animals a home.I was heartbroken when my cat named "Monkey" passed away 2 years ago.I still miss her.She was a good friend.I think I might be ready to adopt another cat in the near future.

The Encouragement Comes From People Like You
Thank you, and God bless you for all you have done to help homeless animals. I'm sure there are so many you have helped to place in good homes who would thank you if they only could!
I, too, lost my closest animal friend a couple of years ago. I was so grieved that I thought I would never recover. But the answer for it was to continue to help other poor little souls who could not help themselves.
Your dear Monkey(how precious!) was one of a kind who you will always love, but you will find comfort in loving another friend.
Take care, dear friend in Liberty, and please consider adopting again soon.
All the best to you and your Future Furry friend,
Fed

I hope in the future more of us who love liberty will put more effort into promoting voluntary help for animals as well our fellow man.I think this will set a good example, counter negative criticism of liberty lovers and become obvious to many that it is simply the right thing to do.Imagine a large group of people united behind truth, freedom, peace, compassion to all living things and goodwill towards our fellow man. That would be a force that could not be stopped.I can dream, can't I?Meanwhile,I am still trying to convince some family and friends why we should bring our troops home now as well as end the phony "war on drugs".Guess we have our work cut out for us,eh?lol

Great post
I have 2 small "rescue" dogs (I got one from an animal shelter and bought the other one from abusive pet owners). I named them Chanel and Sylvie. I'd get another small dog but only two small pets are allowed by my landlady. When I was 10 years-old, I named my keyshond mix puppy "Jeffy" (because I had a crush on a boy named Jeffrey at school lol). I think it's a super cute name for a boy dog :-)
Many Thanks, Missy,
for making this world a better place. May there be many more Chanels, Sylvies, Jeffys and most of all, Missy's!
Best wishes to you all,

I Would Rather...

Both causes are good ones
I gave a lot to toys for tots this year and my local soup kitchen, but I love animals, and I think that shelters could always use some help too. Either way, helping others is noble no matter what.
jrd is still here... kinda in a weird sort of way. She also just might be the happiest girl in the world because she got exactly what she wanted which was a perfect summer wandering playlist.
Do you know
How many animals saved human lives?
Not just in Swiss Alps or in Canada.
I'm talking pigeons whose meat helped Leningrad folks survive....talking about cats and dogs whose meat helped many human beings survive during the II World War.
Respect all life.
Please.

I Do Respect All Life...
...I am not advocating the killing of dogs. I just think there is more good for saving humans then spending money on dogs. But that is just my opinion.

Some of Us
can adopt an animal who cannot adopt a child. The adoption of a child can be a very involved process, not to mention that it is an even greater responsibility. And a dog or cat can be a lifesaver for a lonely or aged person who needs and who wants to give... love.
That said, I am for helping both.

If An Elderly Person...
...adopted a dog so that they could have something to love, that would not be considered "charity". If that helps an elderly person, God bless 'em but when it comes to money to help out in the charity sense my opinion is that it is more worth while to help out human life. Also if adopting a dog helps an elderly persons life then I am in favor of that.

Let me explain
All life is precious.
Lived in Rome Italy for 4 years.
Folks there know cats saved their lives in the past.
Today cats are fed all over the place.
Rome was starving...the people learn stories from the past.
Now the time of peace comes to this suffering planet.
Lion will live in peace with a lamb.

Then They Probably Consider...
...feeding cats as an insurance plan rather then charity. That is fine with me, but my opinion would be that it is more of a righteous and moral cause to save human life rather then an animals (in the charity sense). But I respect your opinion.

Just placing some info out there.
War is hell.
I feed flocks of pigeons every day and I do not expect them to pay back my kindness when SHTF.

I have read of instances
where dogs have given their lives to protect their owners, who have, many times been children. The devotion and loyalty of a dog should not be under-estimated. There are many examples of how animals have helped people to survive.
That is just one reason why it is important to help both.

animals help us

In the name of Christmas giving, if you have a few extra $$$ this season, search for a nearby Animal Shelter and call them up and see what they might need in the way of donations. I brought a bunch of cat food and cat litter to mine the other day, and boy were they thankful.
Nice reminder OP!

Couple of years back I got a newly born little dog from Warsaw Poland to Canada -- named it Milka after a TV milk commercial.
Airport folks did not make her pass through an x-ray machine - Thank God!
And I did not have to buy a ticket for her.

How wonderful~
for you and your precious little Milka. You are the kind of person this world needs more of! The airports here scanned my puppy, and I will always wonder what kind of harm the X-rays may have done to his fragile little system. Also, thank you for bumping my post!
Tip for those traveling with pets: If you have an "Emotional Support Animal", I don't think the airlines charge a fee for ESA's to travel in the cabin with you. Look online on how to get your animal this designation.

Thank you
Airports sometimes x-ray pets because they think drugs could be inserted in their bodies.
Thank you so much for making this post.
I shared it on Twitter to educate others.
Milka lives in Winnipeg Canada and she is a very happy dog being Loved by many people.
My mom gave it to her friend.
Merry Christmas!
