Need Advice To Help Start Preparing For Hyperinflation
Submitted by FreedomFighter204 on Sun, 12/23/2012 - 16:36Hello my fellow DP'ers my question is exactly what my title says, I need help in figuring out what to prep. Should I start hoarding more silver and gold? should I buy american silver quarters and dimes even though I'm Canadian? And what about alternative fuel sources for cars if there is such a thing.
I already am starting to gather some water, food, and dry goods; rice is good and I'm usually canning most things here and there. I'm also looking into acquiring firearms, I believe a rifle, shotgun and handgun combo is the smartest thing to do. I doubt I'll use them since I'm not in America but hey you never know when you could need them.

I would say the 4 G's
1. God
2. Guns and Ammo
3. Grubb and Water http://dontstarve.mygofoods.com
4. Gold and silver http://fortresspmg.com

WATER WATER WATER
Spend you're money on water, then guns, then gold/silver. Food is everywhere, you'll never run out of worms, field mice, crickets...etc. It sounds gross but you'll be able to find food to survive everywhere. What you won't be able to get is drinkable water. In my opinion of course
"Any man worth his salt will stick up for what he believes right, but it takes a slightly better man to acknowledge instantly and without reservation that he is in error." - Andrew Jackson
If you can, get land
And of course, means to defend said land.
Stocking up on food is a great idea, but growing your own brings a certain peace of mind, as well as confidence in oneself.
As far as silver and gold, I'd say stick with junk silver unless you have a lot of "extra" wealth that you want to store.
Storing water is fine, but unless you have a lot of room, it won't last long. Better to find a way to collect/purify your own (provided you can).
Also, if you're a SHTF type, grab toilet paper, liquor and various hygiene/first aid products as well as winter clothing. I say this because not everyone is going to want silver/gold in a SHTF scenario, that's for after the smoke clears.
A signature used to be here!
+1 Makes for very good (common) sense, IMO.

If you're talking about preserving your wealth in REAL money...
If you're talking about preserving a part of your wealth in portable, divisible, recognizable, REAL money, then yes, gold and silver are two safe ways to go, by simple, millenniums old, broadly shared wisdom.
Silver, below 30/oz is A TOTAL bargain currently, by the way ! It may go even a little lower (say, in the 28ish) but :
1. I doubt it could go much lower than that;
2. and anyway, once it retraces back up, the odds for it to become as "affordable" as right now again will likely drop very, VERY fast; though I could be wrong, sure.
I cross fingers to be able to stack a couple more hundreds of ounces of silver over 2013, and I'll consider ourselves lucky if we can stack more than just a hundred ounces over 2014, and after (assuming you're like me in the working "middle class" and neither a millionaire or a total dependent on the state)

Oh, and yes, dear wife is a prepper too; she took care and continues to (and train me) about the food items, portable burners, water filters, batteries, crankable flashlights/radios/chargers, electronics parts, etc. Of course.
