Republican Senator Mike Crapo Arrested for DUI

U.S. Sen. Mike Crapo of Idaho was arrested early Sunday morning in a suburb of Washington, D.C. for driving under the influence, according to a statement released by Alexandria, Va. police.

Crapo, a Republican, was stopped after a patrol officer saw his vehicle go through a red light. After failing field sobriety tests, he was arrested at 12:45 a.m. and “taken into custody without incident,” according to the statement by Alexandria police.

Edit: Why is a Mormon under the influence of alcohol?

I dislike the Mormon profiling

Yeah, yeah, Mormons are suppose not to drink. Still not cool to bring it up as a free snark on the rest of us. He was wrong and stupid, but so is anyone in office doing the same.

How about when any politician breaks a law or found committing adultery, we bring up their faith too? Is it assumed that other faiths don't have similar standards of conduct? Or that it does not matter?

No penalty?

He is in office so he cannot be sentenced, can he?

Crapo was stinko?

Mormon?

He's a Mormon? Me too.

I've been following RP and the Liberty movement for years and NEVER heard of Crapola.

I've heard of Mike Lee. I've heard of a Rep from Provo who was a Div I athlete, both of whom are decent.

But most Mormons have no clue about Liberty and are walking in darkness at noonday when it comes to being awakened.

If this guy was drinking, as it appears he was, then he's breaking one of the most basic commandments for Mormons and he is a liar, because I'm assuming he's got a current temple recommend. He's probably got a lady friend and plenty of lobbyists as close associates.

Mormons should be leading the fight for Liberty but we are mostly asleep as rich folks like Huntsman and Romney dominate the political landscape.

He is, he was, but he is VERY sorry.

Glad to see that made it here without me. He is Mormon, he plays it at election time. What folks need to focus on is WHERE WAS HE DRINKING? he did not have to tell, perhaps the price for being cooperative?

Love or fear? Chose again with every breath.

Was he drunk though?

In the real world you can have a couple drinks and still blow past the limits in most states. It is the holidays. Not defending his actions, just curious how intoxicated he was. I suppose he failed the test but I never thought those tests were very fair to begin with.

Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Many state and/or federally

Many state and/or federally licensed professions have little tolerance for a DUI. One DUI for a nurse, doctor, lawyer, or some vehicle operators (pilots, train, etc) and you might be out of a job and profession. But if you hold one of the highest political offices in the land it is probably not too much of a problem.

Crapo? Is it really Crapo?

no direct position on marijuana but here is his response on drugs,

Crapo: We have seen an explosion in the availability of illegal drugs and criminal activity in many parts of the country. We want our families to live in safe communities, attend schools where violence and illegal drugs have no place and patronize businesses that adhere to a code of ethics.

Crapo credit card add coming out.

The current salary (2011-2012) for rank-and-file members of the House and Senate is $174,000 per year.
Cab ride in Washington DC, priceless...

***Note: Personally I do not believe in seat belt or impaired driving laws as they are victimless crimes. Impaired driving should be considered an aggregating circumstance in damaging another person or that person's property after a crime occurs against another individual not the State as is currently the government revenue based argument.

Well, he did introduce

S 835 in which looks at a glance like a second amendment defending bill to some extent,

S 1552 looks pretty fair - an exception to the endangered species act that people may protect themselves from grizzly bears without repercussion.

And he did cosponsor S202.

Although a lot of the other bills kind of seem neither here nor there.

Don't know how his voting record stands. No time to have a look at that atm.
