Rand Paul discusses his amendment to FISA 12/27/12
Submitted by tsai3904 on Thu, 12/27/2012 - 15:56in
Sen. Rand Paul took to the Senate floor to introduce and speak about his amendment to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act Amendments Act Reauthorization Act of 2012, H.R. 5949. The amendment, known as the Fourth Amendment Protection Act and co-sponsored by Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) extends Fourth Amendment guarantees to electronic communications and requires specific warrants granted through FISA courts in order to obtain this information.

“We have allowed our nation to be over taxed and over regulated and overrun by bureaucrats, the founders would be ashamed of us for what we're putting up with.” Ron Paul
Those who didn't vote didn't
Those who didn't vote didn't decide to just skip the vote because they didn't want to vote on FISA. They've missed all of the recent votes because they have something else going on at the end of the year. Demint was one of those not voting, and I don't think he skipped the vote simply because he didn't want to be on record on the FISA bill.
Time will tell, but I don't buy it.
DeMint could have impressed the Heritage Foundation, his new employer. He's leaving the Senate very soon. If that were me and I was leaving, I would have made it a point to be there for every vote and do so according to the Constitution.
Search "Ron Paul" at the Heritage Foundation's website. This is what you get: trash.

This is the organization that DeMint will soon be leading.
Senator Mike Lee Utah opposes FISA
He is urging his colleagues to oppose it too.

"What if the American people learn the truth" - Ron Paul
WOW - Seantor John Tester D-Montana
WOW - Senator John Tester D-Montana is rejecting FISA too, stating that it tramples privacy rights!

Baucus also! What is going on here?
Tester and Baucus must have both won the daily Senate lottery that makes it look like they are not in total lockstep with one another.
Even the Democrats in Montana
Even the Democrats in Montana have some libertarian instincts. Montana is a libertarian state.
The key word is some. Believe me, I want to believe.
Tester cast the 60th vote for Obamacare, both Tester and Baucus love the NDAA, big government, and continuing undeclared wars of aggression. Libertarian is a word that is unfortunately not associated with either of them. .
I agree with you, Steve. It's very interesting though that,
except for Mike Lee, all but one of the "Yea" votes were Dem's!

.
Rand is much smarter then his father, in one very important way.
He understands what brought his fathers campaigns down and will not let it happen to him.
He will take votes that will purge the libs that have encircled him, as he is doing right now.
He will be certain not to let them infect his campaigns.
