Conspiracy... to distract the Daily PAUL

I love the Daily PAUL, and it's a great source for debating and promoting liberty and learning about current events that relate to our freedoms. But lately, it seems, it has been overrun with conspiracy theories. It's getting annoying turning to the Daily PAUL and seeing the headlines dominated by Sandy Hook or Aurora or "definitive" proof that no planes flew into the WTC.

The Daily Paul was created to promote the views of free markets and personal freedom as espoused by Dr. Paul. This forum is to educate, enlighten, and to fight the real battles for liberty. All these conspiracy theories are a distraction and do, in fact, make us look "kooky".

My guess is that it's a small percentage of the Daily PAUL readership that really believes this stuff, but those that do are very active and vocal. It can become an obsession for people who want to "find the truth" and inform the rest of us. Some spend a great deal of time and energy trying to become internet super sleuths who will solve the crime of an elementary school shooting from 1000 miles away so it's only natural to want to share their findings.

So what can the silent majority on the Daily PAUL, who just want to read news and opinions that relate to promoting or defending liberty, do to reduce the fringe element of this site?

1. For the readers, Down-vote the conspiracy posts and conspiracy comments in regular posts. If the silent majority simply takes a few seconds to down-vote, these posts they will stay on the periphery.

2. Mods, can we add a Conspiracy Forum or at least make sure these posts are in "off-topic" or "weird stuff"? That way the people who want to discuss this stuff can go there and discuss it without cluttering up the front page.

To those on the Daily PAUL posting conspiracy threads:

Please understand that this is not personal and I'm not saying that every conspiracy theory has no merit or that the official story is always 100% accurate and doesn't require more investigation. I'm just saying there's a time and a place for things and by harping on conspiracies on the front page of the daily PAUL you can adversely affect the liberty movement. Please be considerate.

Don't get me wrong; I love a good conspiracy. They're interesting and mysterious. It's like solving a puzzle. I've spent way too much time watching videos analyzing plane crashes and building collapses for my own good. And I love Alex Jones and I think he has exposed a lot of corruption, hypocrisy and conspiracy; but that doesn't mean that every fantasy he has about secret members of the Illuminati plotting a multi-generational takeover of the world is entirely true.

Are there some shenanigans going on in the government and banking circles? Of course. But not every police officer, reporter and government official or even CIA agent is in on the coverup. And not every school shooting is a black-op to spur anti-gun sentiment or shut up a witness to a banking scandal. Sometimes crazy people just massacre people.

I know you mean well, but please be respectful to those of us who just want to fight for freedom and confine your theories to dedicated websites or perhaps a specific forum section on the DP.

and I used to strongly disagree with you on most

things. And still do!

However, I also think it's important that we have opposing voices in a place like this. We never get to the truth when we all just agree. The truth is a journey. I don't think you are right and I don't think I'm right. It's always somewhere in between and maybe there's a rocky road to get there.

oh no i've gone all folky haven't i?! :D

anyway wb

Sherlock Holmes is reported to have said,

"when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth"

If we don't look for a conspiracy how do we know if there was one?

im for Liberty

the conspiracy story's do not bother me since i read 20 hours a day i read each articles twice.

need more input!

jrd3820's picture

Maybe...

Just maybe the REAL conspiracy is that the government creates all these false flag scenarios to get us to cry "CONSPIRACY!" so we look like nuts to the rest of the world. Sigh, we are falling right into their trap....

yeah...

And Vince Foster really did committed suicide...

When Fascism goes to sleep, it checks under the bed for Ron Paul!

Thank you, this really needed to be said.

The "theorists" ought to be more considerate not only of possible Paul converts who they could be turning off, but also of people who are more skeptical of these theories than they are.

It gets tiring trying to have a back-and-forth debate about these conspiracy theories when one side is always labeled as "disinfo shills" and downvoted into oblivion.

From looking at the 9/11 debates on here, It's not hard to see why Ron and his base are portrayed as tinfoil hat-wearing nutjobs. I'm not saying that it's never good and healthy to question the official story, but for God's sake, don't be so quick to yell "FALSE FLAG" after every major tragedy before all the facts are known or discount anything other than your theories.

I don't play, I commission the league.

jrd3820's picture

Agreed....

If you agree with the MSM side of the story (which usually is not correct) everyone here calls you a sheep. Fair enough.

Question their ideas and you are called a troll or a disinfo shill or whatever.

It is like people are so afraid of being sheep that they shy away from the MSM, but do not realize by only looking at it from one other point of view makes them just as much sheep.

There seems to be very little middle ground.

Do you fellows want some cheese

with your whine?

jrd3820's picture

No cheese

And no whine, just observations. I do not mind the conspiracy theories I mind when you try to ask questions about them and people freak out for questioning them as though it makes them any less of a sheep to jump on the hearsay around here and on the web. That's all.

You kind of helped prove my point though. The conspiracy theorists (I like question askers better...) cannot say anything without being called crazy. And anyone dare mention that the question askers are going a bit far without substantial evidence gets called a troll or a disinfo agent.

These conversations are only unproductive because instead of discussing anything with each other we all just roll our eyes and call the other one names.

Then you point this out and in my case I am called a whiner.

Have been called many names here

but I don't bitch about that, I just keep asking questions and looking for answers.

jrd3820's picture

I guess I did not think I was B****ing

More or less observing. My concerns are with the fact that we cannot seem to communicate with each other without acting like 12 year olds.

Happy question asking to you sir.

*Sigh*

9/11? The Gulf of Tonkin? The Iranian Coup in 1953 (as Ron Paul recoginzes publically and has mentioned in 3 different debates)? Do you at least acknowledge those events as being government sponsored? Ron Paul does...

And who in the hell here said that ALL government officials are "in on it"?

But hey, Gary Webb and Deborah Palfrey really did kill themselves because they weren't involved in anything important or anything.

I'm gonna stop there because I'm gettin MAD BRAH. Mad because some DP'ers are still fu**ing blind.

You can call me paranoid if you want. I took an Oath and intend to keep it.

When exactly

did Ron Paul say 9/11 was an inside job???? Quit spreading disinfo.

you mis-read

...the Iranian Coup in 1953 is what Ron Paul acknowledges. Re-read the post above...maybe it's not written in the best way, but that is what it says. The Doc does not publicly believe in a 9/11 conspiracy, you are right there.

Ever heard the term..

Blowback

When Fascism goes to sleep, it checks under the bed for Ron Paul!

it wouldn't be blowback if it was

an inside job.

blowback is saying that us foreign policy caused 9/11. not that the usa planned 9/11. Very different things.

I believe it was 80% blowback but those that blew back were also funded and assisted to a large degree with us dollars and help. I don't necessarily believe those that assisted/funded bin laden knew exactly what he was planning...but that's for another thread.

to take it out of that context, the blowback for the uk occupation of northern ireland was ira bombing in the uk.

Wasn't

it the perceived blowback that the whole 9/11 charade was framed around?

And one might even describe blowback as a conspiracy theory...

thank you

Honestly I'm intrigued by the theories and things posted here, but this stuff doesn't need to dominate the front page. These things turn off new visitors, especially the outrageous accusations with supposed proof that isn't proof at all.

Yes

I showed my father the front page just now and guess what, he said "what the hell is this about JFK and George HW Bush? What are you reading boy?"

My Dad and I have gone toe to toe all the way through the primary, and I was starting to make ground, my Dad can be really stubborn. Now he's calling me Dale.

that is a problem with your DAD

not with those who are seeking truth. If he is unwilling to talk about things like the Gulf Of Tonkin, or the Iranian Coup of 1953, then he is just denying that there are ever government conspiracies, period. Those two are relatively well documented and admitted to. Some people will never allow their pre-concieved notions to be challenged. It doesnt mean "conspiracy nuts" are to blame for your Dad's colse mindedness.

That's not the point

I almost had him ready to admit he is a Libertarian until he saw that. The fact of the matter is that seeing Ron Paul's name associated with conspiracy theories made my Dad discredit Ron Paul. That's why this conspiracy stuff P's me off, we need to grow not get smaller.

i get that

i once had an older church lady call me a radical
because i told her i was voting for Ron Paul
she then went on to say,how safe would america be if RP was president
when them japs bombed Pearl Harbor, instead of FDR
i asked her if i could send her some info about what really happened
she told me flat out NO, and stopped talking to me
people get so ingrained in their thinking, even the truth
won't wake them up,but does scare them, and their way of thinking
it probably didn't help matters when i asked her"where in the bible
it says to go blow up brown people, who have never harmed us"
i was shocked,my thinking was church people would want the truth
and not be judgmental towards people of other skin colors,or
different religions
many things have shocked the crap out of me since i started reading
things not in our history books, but that church lady has been by far the biggest so far
if you can take anything of value from this, then my ink hasn't been wasted typing it
