We need a critical mass to refuse to file

their federal income taxes. If a movement is begun whereby Americans enmasse max out their exemptions and refuse to file and pay federal income taxes (above and beyond what they steal from our paychecks), this would have an impact. They cannot put us all in jail.

The Feds steal our money, they waste on our money, they spend our money on things we do not even know about and other things most don't support or believe in i.e. their continual war, drone strikes and reproductive atrocities.

They can't throw us all in jail. This would be a peaceful way to protest. Just refuse to file.

What say you???

Start with the document I linked to in this post (courtesy of David Merrill):

Then check out the links in the main body of David's original post. This makes more sense than anything I've seen. In short, Federal Reserve Notes are the private property of the Fed, and "legal tender for all debts" (i.e. it is legal - though not required by law - to offer them to discharge a debt, whoopty-doo). You are NOT obligated to use them, but if you do, you are liable for a "usage tax" on someone else's property.

Cracking the Code - We don't earn "income", pay no tax.

I'm reading the book. Very interesting. You have to file - if you don't, then you're going to get in trouble. But you don't have to pay tax if you don't have "income", as defined by the Tax LAW (not the IRS code).

Restore the Foundations - "If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?"

Maybe not all

but they can (and will) jail the main "instigators" and key players. And anyone who has read about Irwin Schiff knows what will come next:

Just saying, don't expect many people who are anxious to try this.

Thank you for the input.

I suppose it is a pipe dream. Not enough will stand. I will let it go.

Biblical Perspective

As a Christian I believe what the Bible says in Mark 12:17:

And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him.

If you are a Christian this should be your stance also; however, if you are not I will appeal to you in a different way.

I don't like taxes especially when we have a super evil and corrupt government in charge. The problem is not us being arrested if we don't pay them. The problem is that if a large enough group doesn't pay they will take away other services from us and hurt all sorts of other industries, increasing taxes on them, etc. It wont hurt their wallets. They will just print more money and inflation will increase.

Ultimately we hurt ourselves, our families and friends more if we do this. I hate being a nay-sayer because it is a noble idea of peaceful resistance. But how can you think such an EVIL government will be swayed? The only way to change things is to change the system by infiltration.

Isaiah 2:4
And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

The lesson to learn

The lesson to learn, IMO, is that freeing the soul was and is more important that being free from the state. If he and his disciples did not pay their taxes, then they would be in jail and could no longer teach the Gospel of Christ which had higher priority.

Staying out of jail or minimizing the stress of having the state on my back, personally, has higher priority because it allows me to function as a better father and husband, but that does not keep me from looking for every opportunity to put the state in its rightful place. Picking my battles so to speak.

as soon as the stress of paying my taxes is on par with the stress from not paying the state then I will be ready as well as many others and we will have the critical mass we yearn for. Until then, I'll continue to buy silver (and a little bit of Bitcoin) until the fraudulent fiat FRN is hosed.

“I’m fully diversified. I’ve got some under the mattress, some under the floor boards, some in the backyard.”

If a government is operating via

theft, deceit, irresponsibility, usury, death etc. etc., I do not believe we as Christians have a duty to support such a government. Just the opposite really. We have a duty to overthrow those moneychangers and be quite angry while doing so.

The government is not helping the poor, they are enslaving the poor and doing so willingly. The organizations that actually do help the poor i.e. the churces, predominantly christian, are being persecuted.

I appreciate your sentiment, but strongly disagree.

I also need to add

that the government in Jesus' time was vey corrupt, yet Jesus still said what he did in Mark 12:17. He overthrew the money changers because they were cheating people in the temple. That, however, was not the ruling (Roman) government. It was the Pharisees allowing it.

Isaiah 2:4
And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

our trust needs to be in God. That's not to say that we should do nothing and sit idly by and watch and wait. However, I just don't think this is a strong enough statement. There are other more powerful ways to change things and that's like I said before, infiltrate, make better politicians. In my honest opinion not paying taxes will not hurt the government and it will not convince them of anything except to grieve us more and more quickly. Down vote me if you want, but agree to disagree.

And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

i'd be willing

but the gov takes my money out before I even get it.

I think you'd have to have

I think you'd have to have 50%+ of the population to go along to be successful. Otherwise you'd be risking a heck of a lot.

It's our money! Not theirs!

Being brave among friends is nothing to be boastful about. Being brave when it's only you is quite another thing.

I understand...

what your saying because I've been there!
Call it boastful if you like... But are we really among friends? Because when you make a stand, then you will know who your friends really are...

Well it is encouraging

to see the responses to my post. Now I think we need to brainstorm ways to get the word out. Do you think I should start a website just for this? How dangerous would that be for me? I still have kids that depend on me, adult kids, but dependent nonetheless. Maybe all over the country we just circulate papers that lead people to such a website.

Is this a viable start for an idea? I really am serious about this idea folks, which is why I made the original post. However, again, I do not think it is effective unless we approach critical mass with it.

Hunting for a way, get knowledgeable.

I listed the homework Wayne gave here.

The Soviet union fell because few were willing to work to support their government's stupid activities.

One wonders how many of the unemployed (25%) even bother to look for a job so they can send the fruits of their labor to the wastrel's in Congress.

Free includes debt-free!

I pledge to not convict anyone of any federal crime if I am ever on a jury. This is our biggest peaceful weapon. Just make their laws useless.

It's called "Jury nullification"

Jury nullification occurs when juries acquit criminal defendants who are technically guilty, but who do not deserve punishment. It occurs in a trial when a jury reaches a verdict contrary to the judge's instructions
as to the law.

Just one example, so please, do your own research!

Should at least start with an extension??

"Its easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled."
Mark Twain

That would be a start. However, for those whom have never filed

an extension, you still have to pay when you file. You have to estimate what you owe in taxes and submit a check. If what you owe is not close to amount owed, they then charge you interest on the difference you did not pay when you filed your extension. Bottom line is you may end up having to pay them more and who wants to do that. Not any of us, that is for sure. It happened to me just this last tax season.

Perhaps a Different Approach, Become a Federal Nuisance

We all know Washington, DC is a bureaucratic paper mill. If it wasn't for the voluminous amounts of federal documents that Americans have to deal with, much of the various agencies work would be unnecessary. So, let's give them some extra paperwork to process.

Why not file for a federal tax extension on form 4868 (see: http://www.taxbrain.com/taxcenter/extensions/fed.asp )?

It is a simple one page form to fill out and there is no requirement to provide an explanation as to why you are requesting an extension. A taxpayer has until October of the tax year to file their actual tax return. Although the actual tax owed is due by April 15 (for personal returns), the paperwork can be delayed.

If you delay paying the tax owed they will assess a monetary penalty. But the feds won't get their 'pound of flesh' by April 15. This would put a squeeze on the treasury's cash flow.

So what does this accomplish? Instead of the IRS getting form 1040X by April 15, they get it six months later. That screws up their labor planning.

Another option is to pay a couple of dollars more than you owe the feds. They will have to send you a small refund, which means more paperwork for them.

Tie them up with the very thing they exist for: processing paperwork.

is no different than admitting you owe them!

I already decided to do that this year

for several reasons that benefit me and also to delay their 'take' since I am self employed they don't have ANY money from me yet and won't until October. Matter of fact, I think I will go buy a ton of work tools I will need next year this week so I won't have to pay a dime anyways if all works out right.

we can start

with the credit cards. I have 2 that i stopped paying about a year ago. EVERYONE SHOULD STOP PAYING THEM. then settle them out at 20-30 cents on the dollar although they will send you a 1099 claiming you OWE TAXES on the unpaid 70-80%...the way i see it, the government is bought and paid for by the banks, they are one in the same. only difference is the banks can't send the irs after you!

Label Jars, Not People!

I'm Unclear on the 1099 Issued From a Creditor

Form 1099 is usually issued for some sort of income received not debt owed by the taxpayer. Could you clarify. please?

Contract work

If I contract work to a sub-contractor, I submit a 1099 misc form to show that it was paid out and I am not libel for the amount shown.

For people who receive a

For people who receive a payroll check with taxes deducted, at my last job I was given three options of setting up my withholding so that at tax time I would be even, pay more, or get a refund. If you owe, it's up to you when you pay. But I don't know how easy it is for them to just start garnishing your wages.
