Please stop associating Ron Paul with conspiracy theories

EDIT: I take it back, Ron Paul himself has associated himself with conspiracies and that makes this thread bogus. While I still believe it scares off new people, I also know that I had to read a lot of these conspiracies more than once for it to sink in. I denied them to myself, but you can't unread or unlearn it. I just downvoted my own thread, from the first comment you guys have changed my attitude and I commend you for it. The original post is still below, thank you.

No offense to truthers, I appreciate what you do and I thank you for never shrinking from controversy. However, I'm asking you to tone it down and here is why.

I found this site through google searches on Ron Paul and the like when I was just getting into this thing about a year or so ago. It seems like all roads lead to the Daily P.Au.L. through internet searches. This is important because many people just getting interested in Ron Paul come to this site. These new people are likely to be skeptical of conspiracy theories and get offended when they read things like "9/11 was an inside job, Bin Laden didn't die in 2010, Sandy Hook didn't happen"...etc.

The problem is that they then discredit Ron Paul and our movement and never come back. You're turning the newly awakened back into sheep. I'm not asking you to stop educating us with the truth, I'm just asking that I not have to read this stuff on the front page of a site associated with the name Paul. Take it somewhere else, put it in the off topic or weird stuff forums, do anything but associate it with the good Doctor. Please.

There is a reason that Ron Paul hasn't publicly come out and endorsed conspiracy theories. It's hard enough to bring people over from the dark side as it is. The conspiracy threads are making it harder.

EDIT: I lied, Ron Paul had endorsed conspiracies. You guys are good, I'm not sure where I stand on this right now. http://youtu.be/2dECSYm5bSM

Again, I think you are

Again, I think you are absolutely right.

I agree completely. Maybe

I agree completely. Maybe provide a new section to discuss these types of topics; one that is separate from the "top threads" section. This is not to censor people, but rather not to scare off potential newbies.

If the liberty movement is GROWING...

...all this whining that exploring uncomfortable liberty-relevant topics is somehow making it harder to "bring people over from the dark side" doesn't seem to hold water.

I am proof that the OPPOSITE of what you claim was true for me. I would have had litte interest in things like monetary and foreign policy had I not had my eyes opened about some other things FIRST... things that several of you don't like seeing discussed here.

My awakening was the exact opposite way that some of you who are complaining would prefer. I'm sure I'm not alone in that.

It is what it is and I make no apologies for that.

I see that you have only been here for a couple months. But realize this war against discussion of things deemed ~fringe~ or ~conspiracy theories~ or whatever, has been going on for years.

Since the liberty movement and interest in freedom and Constitutional matters is GROWING, despite, and in some cases because of, the presence of that which you and some others find objectionable, I think it's a fair question at this point to ask yourselves if maybe your objections about what you call "conspiracy theories" isn't just perhaps your own pet peeve.

Not everyone is going to have their awakenings based on the same things. This is NOT one size fits all.

Very true point

I can see how a conspiracy theory turned fact could explode this movement and I can see how some are awakened in that way. However I'm willing to bet that the conspiracy theories here scare off more new people than bring them in.

Your lack of integrity is showing.

You claim that video of Ron Paul saying there is a conspiracy meant something to you, yet you carry on truther-bashing and refuse to add the video to your post. Look at the votes, people understand how to keep threads active and how to ignore ones they do not like.

It's up there now

I do mean it, I admitted below to you I've acted like a troll. That first comment completely changed my attitude this morning, the dude made a good point proving me wrong. I wanted to acknowledge that to him.

THANK YOU.

Every one of us acted like "trolls" at some point. I have never once deliberately posted something that was wrong, but I still post stuff that is wrong. I try very hard to correct it the instant I realize it. The path to the truth is not even "straight and narrow" it is totally overgrown with a jungle of lies.
Thanks for being willing to grow, and to help fight for the quest for truth. And pardon me if I am a little touchy about this. I have had to retract 3 recent posts after trusted "alternative" sources failed to do due diligence. That was why I trusted them, I thought they did the research. I have a lot of free time for a few more weeks, but I have a full time job that will kick in seriously pretty soon. Then I won't have time to dig at all, and I will be the mercy of two untrustworthy medias. I sincerely hope there will be a hearty band of truthers keeping the dailypaul a place where the suspicious eye looks back at the all-seeing one.

Love or fear? Chose again with every breath.

I Agree Completely

Also, don't click on those news stories when they appear in the recently read section. Down vote them so they won't appear in top stories. This is about all you can do. What did Jesus say? "be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves".

Sorry, you're out of luck.

Sorry, you're out of luck. Better leave now if you can't handle the truth. We're all sick of the conspiracies that are threatening our lives and liberty...so you'll have to pardon us for discussing them.

The site is also no longer just about Ron Paul...hence the new header at the top of the page.

What's the Constitution have to do with

you guys saying "no kids died at Sandy Hook, no planes hit the towers, FDR helped plan Pearl Harbor, George Bush killed JFK"...etc

Conspiracies have nothing to do with restoring The Constitution so I don't really understand your point.

The individual who refuses to defend his rights when called by his Government, deserves to be a slave, and must be punished as an enemy of his country and friend to her foe. - Andrew Jackson

Exactly! What happend to

Exactly! What happend to discussing political and economic theory? Those conversations on this site are what brought me in.

Same

with me.

This is coming from a guy who questions many of the main stream theories on things (such as 911 etc.)....but this site has gone waaaaaay overboard....and would no doubt turn away would be supporters with the types of stories making it to front page.

deacon's picture

what?

"conspiracies have nothing to do with restoring the
constitution"?
you seriously can't think that
them conspiracies as you call them, are why the const
is in the shape it is in!!
they are the reason the const, has been trampled on
and the very reason they are used to take more from it

If we deny truth before your very eyes, then the rest of what we have to say,is of little consequence

So

aliens and lizard men are the reason the constitution is in shambles? Not tying to poke fun here....these are stories i've seen in the chats here. This has gone waaaay overboard.

deacon's picture

did i mention aliens and reptiles?

NO,that was a sarcastic comment to someone else
but for the sake of argument,i will list few
things that have happened
WW2,the korean war, vietnam, all these so far have been found out to be lies,so our involvement was based on lies
the OKC city, the way it was reported is a lie
columbine is another lie
9-11,didn't go down the way we were told
sandyhook is still up in the air
the last 4, i mentioned all have something in common, the fed gov
used these to strip the const of its teeth
the OKC bombing was when the patriot act was written, and we have seen what the fed did with that. The patriot act sat and collected dust until 9-11,then brought back out
columbine was the catalyst used to implement the assault weapons ban
under clinton
now here comes the sandy hook deal, guess what? the fed gov
is going to use that to fulfill their wildest dreams, and part
of their agenda will be finished
so,are these conspiracies or are they facts?

these events have been used

these events have been used to take freedom and liberty away from Americans. If you don't believe they are worthy of being discussed, that's your problem.

YO!

Dedicated to restoring Constitutional government to the United States of America

When Fascism goes to sleep, it checks under the bed for Ron Paul!

exactly...and that can't be

exactly...and that can't be done until the people to come to grips with such events as the JFK assassination and 9-11 (and the truths and reasons behind them).

Why not?

The Constitution is already law. Why can't you just educate people on the FED and Constitution? It's a lot easier to convince someone the Government is hurting their money and freedom than it is to convince someone that everything they believe is a lie.

Why must we push conspiracy theories to restore The Constitution?

If you want to discuss

If you want to discuss 'conspiracy theories', then let's talk about the Warren commission report or the 9-11 commission report. The US government is great at creating conspiracy theories.

As far as 'Why can't you just educate people on the FED and Constitution'....

BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE BEING CONVINCED THAT THE CONSTITUTION DOESN'T MATTER WHEN IT COMES TO FIGHTING 'TERRORISM' OR 'KEEPING THE CHILDREN SAFE'.

Only once they understand they have been LIED TO will they begin to understand the dangers we face.

Good point

I'll be damned, I agree with this comment 100%. No lie, John you guys might make a truther out of me.

I agree 100% with the poster.

I agree 100% with the poster. Fringe theories (no matter how true they may be) are not going to be what converts people to our way of thinking or makes them think about liberty.

The real strength of our movement is a desire for freedom not only for ourselves but for everyone. The fact that we are willing to live and let live, that we endorse people using their freedom as they see fit so long as it does not impinge on another's freedom is basic, logical, and in the end popular.

“Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the government take care of him better take a closer look at the American Indian.” ― Henry Ford.

How do you know what will convert people?

I can tell you that I am proof of just the OPPOSITE of your claim.

Everyone does not have the same interests. This is NOT one size fits all.

Besides, much of what Ron Paul talks about was considered ~fringe~ not so long ago. Continuing to address such uncomfortable things seems to be paying off.

I find it ironic and a bit hypocritical when you speak of freedom for everyone and being willing to live and let live, yet you agree 100% with the poster in his quest to put his hand over peoples' mouths to not talk about things he doesn't want them to.

I am just saying people who

I am just saying people who go too far down the rabbit hole without scientific process or evidence appear paranoid or silly to the rational unconverted at first glance.

My thought here is no different than telling folks ignorant to their own deception by our government, that they are "stupid". This most likely is not going to win you friends and influence enemies. Speculation without facts serves the same purpose with the uninitiated person seeking out our positions. They expect them to be "reasoned" positions. Circumstantial evidence is OK, this is not a court here but, there has to be something tangible to one's argument or it will be dismissed and along with it the rest of our arguments very likely based on that first impression.

*Fun clip; Tom Cruise makes a similar point here even though Demi Moore's character is eventually proven right in a fictional world where these guys actually incriminate themselves.

with this post.

I've noticed this has gotten worse over the last year.

Sounds like conspiracy to me

And of course the CIA is every bit as secretive as the Federal Reserve. ... And yet think of the harm they have done since they were established [after] World War II. Fishy I want to say thank you for your signature. I watched part 1 after seeing your signature somewhere else on here a few days ago. I'm listening to part 2 now, Carl Miller is the man.

I'm going to let the post play out and see what comes of it, I've already learned one thing. Who knows, I might be a truther myself after hearing clicking freethink's other link.
