Advice for joining local GOP

I want some advice as to what I can do within my local GOP to advance the cause of liberty.

I'm late to the party as I just joined this week so I'll attend my first meeting as a member in two weeks and the website says they're nominating for elections. I doubt I have a realistic chance at winning a position but if I can run unopposed I'm in.

What have you guys done locally to advance the cause of liberty?

Become a precinct person ASAP

I've been reading your posts on the DP and I'm encouraged to hear you are getting involved.

You are doing the right thing. Keep going to the meetings, even if they are boring as hell. It doesn't take long to figure out who the Ron Paulers are- network with them.

I'd recommend being "politically brief" with the neocons. They are not our friends, but they are our allies (if that makes any sense).

The first "action" I would take is figure out what you need to do to become a precinct person. If your precinct already has an organizer, then get to know them. If they are not a liberty person, then you can very easily run against them to win that seat which gives you a vote during committee business.

Hard work pays off. I networked to find a liberty candidate which I helped get elected to a very important statewide seat.

The founders would be ashamed at us for what we are putting up with.

Thanks for sharing

I appreciate the encouragement and advice. Precinct person isn't listed on the website but I will definitely find out. Thank you.

How about some more info?I

How about some more info?

I would suggest hooking up with some RP supporter in your state / count / town. Gop rules are different depending where you are at.

And it depends how you want to play it. Two ends of the spectrum is; do the gop thing (obedient to be an unknown infiltrator) or the delegate way (asking questions that can put you at odds from their side because you are not following along.)

Elections for what kind of positions? Some places have openings that no one wants and would be glad to fill it with an obedient person.

I don't intend to be quiet

if there's anything that I know is wrong going on.

The positions that will be available are Chairman, Vice chairman, Treasurer, Vice Treasurer, Secretary, Vice Secretary.

I don't know how it works yet but I think it might be possible to fill one of the vice positions.

What else you want to know?

Granger is the resident expert.

She will give good advice.

Please become good friends with them before speaking out. It is a club and they stick to their own. Smile, compliment, tell a small joke to lighten the mood, etc.

Slip in something that is sort of important but won't frustrate them. Over time, you can become respected and listened to.

I am sure that you know this already, but some readers may not.

My intention is to advance the cause of liberty however I can and I won't lie about that when asked. I do not plan to argue or divvy in controversy that they don't want to hear for a while.

The plan now is to show them a young, energetic, enthusiastic face that is willing to work.

Two things I would love to see locally are:
1) A stand for gun rights/ Action plan in case of gun confiscation and 2) Action to bring sound money like Utah

Gun Rights

That is 2nd Amendment. The best action may possibly be to have a discussion with your local sheriff and find out if he will defend/uphold Constitutional Rights. If he does, the next time bring Oath Keeper cards and printouts to hand out to local police.

Committee may bring awareness if they agree with you, but they will not be able to defend or back you up if/when shtf, as a Constitutionally sound sheriff would do. It might be best to acquire their reactions first, maybe as a committee group they could all urge your sheriff to do the right thing :-)

We have many battles to win in this war, each one requires different actions and strategies.

Turtles cross finish lines too, but they carry more weight.

God speed and good luck :-)

I've thought of doing just that

I'm contemplating the best way to go about asking the sheriff where he stands on gun confiscation. I think I'll take your advice and see what the GOP chairman thinks first. It would probably be better if someone of more influence than I did the bidding but I'll do it myself if I have to. I want to be smart about it though.

What makes you think you can

What makes you think you can fill one of the vice positions?

I mean if you can, well of course, go for it.

You hear more of the party putting a "regular" in a postiion. You are as new as it gets, so it seems like either you are rural or in a very democrat area with very limited Republicans.

Rural

I do not expect to fill it, just recognizing the possibility of running unopposed.

You got some good advice

You got some good advice above about being nice and forming friendly rapport.

If you can get into a position that quickly, play along, and get it.

And other people from here, can help you along from there.

In big city counties, such as mine, they really want you to be a poop boy first to prove your loyality. If you can get in without this stuff, you got it good.

lol poop boy

If there's what you call a 'poop boy' position I'm sure I'll get that lol. I always seem to get the dirt road, but the dirt road has treated me well. I'm the 'big stuff guy' at the eBay store I work for now.
