We actually should encourage this legislation as is

Feinstein's bill will never, never get out of the House because it's too comprehensive. It will get presented, get killed, and the gun grabbers will have blown their wad for the next 10 years.

Frustrated with NRA, MAC, etc

They get hung up on the "assault rifle" definition and argue that AR 15s are "sporting rifles" and not "military".

B.S.

The AR-15 has no sporting purpose. When MAC/NRA makes that argument, they sound like they're 'reaching'. The argument is so weak that is actually serves to strengthen the progressive, gun-grabber argument.

We need to keep the argument on target. We do NOT HAVE A 2ND AMENDMENT FOR "sporting". The 2nd Amendment is a check and balance against government tyranny. Please do what you can to keep the debate on target.

Stop giving a piece of

Stop giving a piece of legislation this much credit. Instead, remind people that legislation cannot take away our 2nd amendment rights. Every time you make statements like, "this bill is going to take away our rights" you are reinforcing an invalid concept, i.e., that laws can affect our rights.

The rights are, as you suggest,

"unalienable" and cannot be taken away.

But your ability to exercise them in the real world *is*
seriously affected by stuff like this.

The whole vibe with this is like the post 9/11 hysteria -
which got us multiple wars/Patriot Act/NDAA...

This is looking to be just as significant - and bad -
if we can't stop it. If it passes, that's another situation.

But stopping it within the political process is way
preferable and it's not going to get stopped without
lots of people putting some effort into making it happen.

The point is that you we

The point is that you we should be negatively reinforcing these "laws" rather than positively reinforcing them. Any discussion of them should be prefaced by stating that "no law can overturn our right to bear arms..." and/or "any law which attempts to restrict/ban firearms in any way is unconstitutional/illegal..."

That point always needs to be driven home. When people repeatedly hear that they will think it. If they don't hear it, they won't think it. They will think "this law is going to take away our rights". This reinforces the invalid idea that such a law can legitimately take away our rights.

Bad legislation lead to this helpless slaughter, more is worse!

I believe that the most effective way to defeat this is by exposing the state legislative process that created the scenario of their schools as gun-free zones. This must be tried in the court of public opinion.

Call attention to the heavily-guarded legislators, secure in their chambers, isolated from any sense of crazed-gunman danger; passing laws that made the most innocent and vulnerable among us the most likely victims of such.

Feinstein's bill, and Obama's full-weight behind it, would not have made any difference in the Sandy Hook outcome, except to reduce the number of law-abiding neighbors armed to stop such armed violence if it spread to their homes, or came to their homes first.

Jesus said, "And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through." That obviously means that, "the goodman", would have used all appropriate measures of force to meet the threat, and deal with it appropriately. These legislators seem determined to favor the thief; and by moving towards removing our means of defense, they are attempting to make our life, liberty, and property even more defenseless to their own thieving ways also.

Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have the exact measure of the injustice and wrong which will be imposed on them. - Frederick Douglass

It seems like they are in a panic, they can't turn back anymore

,because even more Americans are buying even more full combat weaponry, joining militias, it reflects their utter lack of confidence for the system,

and with the truth of fast and furious being spoken throughout law enforcement, they despise Obama, nobody wants to enforce gun confiscation, its a suicidal nightmare scenario for every cop, the military, and the oathkeepers,

I read Steward Rhodes warning to Obama.... they aren't backing down, The untold hundreds of millions of gun owners know deep down somethings wrong, feinstein is asking for a war that the government isn't even confident about, that is FATAL, It was recorded that from Jan 08 to Dec 08, 12 million gun purchases were made, and many of those were multi purchases, thats enough citizens to outfit the Chinese and Indian armies. thats 08, Lord knows how many guns are being bought this year, its unfathomable.

Remember, When they show up scaring us with their fear suits, saying resistance is futile, you are alone, thats a fear tactic, they are actually alone in this

Armed US citizens

There are FAR more armed US citizens than there are members of EVERY ARMY IN THE WORLD COMBINED, far more.

And yes, the government is in total desperation mode trying to disarm us. But how will the unarmed take the guns away from the armed?

Bill the sexual predator/sociopath Clinton tried to do the exact same thing in his 2nd term, try to get rid of the 2nd Amendment, and totally stepped on his rape wand...

This time the armed citizenry is way better armed and way more radicalized in their fervor for their freedom.

And it isn't just redneck racist white guys either, I know and trust many of my minority American fellow gun owners, and they are in total solidarity against this gun grab.

If your government has the power to take away the weapons of the citizens, the citizens are not free.

The price the government will have to pay is far greater than it can afford, this land may some day fall, but today is not that day, and these would be dictators are not the ones who take us out.

This bluster from Obama is just vegan 'red-meat' for his followers, there is ZERO possibility that O will expend his limited political capital shooting spitwads at the NRA...

reporandy

You had me 50/50 convinced...up until you said nra. That blew the entire deal.

You are wishful thinking or uninformed. nra?

nra is part of the reason we're in this sh|thole mess.

understood

I couldn't think of much to say about this video, it was so numbing.
If they ram this through like obamacare, it could be the one that really sets things off.

Well, that was my thought

That we would wind up with a knee-jerk legislation effort when none was needed. After all, they do VERY LITTLE all year long, but if they can pass this, then they can say this is an "accomplishment".

I submitted a note to my congress critters from the link provided. It may not prevail, but it can't hurt. Took 5 minutes. Then I passed the link along to gun owning friends.

I wasn't on you about it, really. It was more of a declaration

that if they make laws to strip my rights away, that I will not follow them.
