quite capture the totality of the response that will be given to such a move by this administration.

Their only hope of achieving anything lies in incrementalism - if that is still possible.

The odds currently are not in favor of such an approach.

I think they are impatient waiting for the water to boil so they can cook their frogs.

I expect them to miscalculate and turn up the heat too fast.

The chaos and melee that will ensue will be something never before seen in history. The words have not been invented yet to describe it. SHTF will turn out to be a colossal understatement. I also expect that once it starts, it will not end until one side is completely decimated and destroyed. At least from my perspective, I'm not sure they are expecting us to fight to the last man, and the last bullet.

I have a very bad feeling about the way things are going...and how they're going to end up.

The country is deeply divided. Guns are just the tip of the iceberg. The deeper divide is over whether we belong to the government or the government belongs to us. More than half the people in the U.S. believe the former and are OK with it.

The minority, the ones who still believe in the principles of the Constitution, are being pushed into a corner.

The dynamics are there for a confrontation that could turn violent.

A large number of cops and military are really into their guns.
That is most likely why they are proposing
the grandfather clause and registering them
rather than a complete ban. They can get the cops on board that way. But if they went for a complete ban I don't think they would have their support and then it would really get interesting.
