Free market and KILL THE BLIMP

0 votes

I posted a forum topic voicing my opposition to the Blimp. I was called a TROLL for doing so.

There were a couple of post that said the Free market would decide whether the Blimp would survive. And I agree. The free market uses advertising. I was advertising my opposition to the blimp. Anyone else is free to advertise their support of the blimp.

But flagging my post and and having it deleted is REGULATING the free market. It is cencoring those whom oppose the blimp and only allowing those whom support it to have a voice.

I strongly oppose the Blimp as "Google Ron Paul" gives our opponent an EQUAL VOICE in the message, through the internet.
Spending money on canvassing and Local Advertising gives US 100% control of the message.

But to delete my opinion is NOT free market. Open disagreement I welcome, censorship is our antithesis.

The Blimp

I have a hard time weighing the pros and cons of The Blimp. Obviously a pro is the very fact that we came together and worked together in a direct and substantial manner, making real that which was once non-existent. The Blimp is tremendous proof of our ability to work together to reach a common goal. The problem I have is that there is little to no feedback of it's success. It is quite a costly project and unless there are specific highly populated events to advertise this message I feel just buying 'airtime' may not be the most value efficient project. We wanted a blimp...we got a blimp. I support those who support The Blimp. I just want to know...what's next?

How about this?

whoo whoo! pull over! pull over!

this is the headline police.

you are being cited for reckless posting.

it seems your aim is to incite rather than educate.

I'll let you go with a warning, but since you are still online... would you be so kind and adjust your subject so as to not upset people unnecessarily?

Your posts will last longer and you will have a much more productive dialogue about the issue.

I thought the blimp was pretty neat

but got concerned about the google Ron Paul part, because

#1 a lot of people don't have a clue what google is (seriously) and

#2 for those that do google Ron Paul they get a lot of very shoddy, hit pieces written by lame-stream media

I just googled Ron Paul

and all that came up was his stance on the issues, his website, myspace, this website, and a couple of youtube videos. It was all very positive and informative. What are you trippin' over?

My snakeskin jacket is a symbol of my belief in personal freedom.

I did this as well

and was completely satisfied with the links that came up on the first page. So, this thread is moot. Let's let it quietly die the death it deserves.

And we are PAYING for advertising that directs people to these articles.

Canvassing and Local advertising gives US 100% control over the message.

I thought the blimp was not

I thought the blimp was not the best use of money but it did give a small media splash. But I think that has been milked for all it's worth. It may have been better if it had made it to NH. The signs are hokey. Maybe it should also blast that awful "If you Google Ron Paul" song.

B.S.

Why do you need to say "KILL THE BLIMP"?!

How about " Discussion about the necessity of the Ron Paul Blimp"?

I don't buy your explanation.

I flagged it because your inviting negative posts.
That is what we are trying to avoid. If you want to be productive- then write something productive not something disparaging and negative.

Thank you.

Wow. You have a good point.

And we are giving tons of free advertising to Google- which may turn out to be an enemy.

But, DON'T KILL THE BLIMP. I love it. Just get a different sign. How much would that cost? How about, "RON PAUL now!!!"

THIS

I agree with, although I still think that the funds could be used better by canvassing and Local ads.

But "Google Ron Paul" is EQUAL advertising for our opponent, and they're getting it for free.

I don't agree with your view on the blimp, but...

flagging your post is ridiculous!

"If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone." - Romans 12:18

Brilliant article that explains why we love Dr. Paul:

No one is LISTENING to the "Free Market"

The fact is that it is not the funders of the blimp who are engaging in market choice, it is the people you are trying to reach (i.e. the people who are "buying" Ron Paul's message). It is the "consumers" who should dictate whether the blimp should continue, and it is clear it isn't achieving the desired results relative to its cost (the money could be better spent on TV advertisement or call centers). So listen to the people you are trying to reach with this message, analyse the publicity of the blimp ands its overal effectiveness in advertisement (which it is lacking, you can barely read it on ground level in many cases). Businesses (in their expertese) hire blimps for like an hour or so during sporting event not for weeks on end just to let it just float around over small town hoping someone in a see of ten people may see it.

I'm all for being smart with

I'm all for being smart with the money and getting the thing flying at the most effective times and not wasting money and time. But proposing to "KILL IT" is not in tune with intelligently running anything, it's ending it period which to me is just absurd and something the establishment I'm sure would love that we do.

Free Market

The beauty of free market is, that property is personal. Meaning Fox News can be prejudice against Ron Paul, and people can flag you as offensive on a private website.

I think the blimp should run its course, I will not try to stop people from promoting Ron Paul via the blimp, but I am not giving them money.

Meaning Fox News can be prejudice against Ron Paul

BUT, you can't stop other people from listening to Fox's opinion. That's free market. If a small group could to decide to take Fox off the air, that's regulation, not free market.

ONLY A SHILL WOULD SAY "KILL

ONLY A SHILL WOULD SAY "KILL THE BILMP"!

Paul campaign hopes to attract Upstate voters with blimp
http://prisonplanet.com/articles/january2008/170108blimp.htm

Nonsense

"ONLY A SHILL WOULD SAY "KILL THE BILMP"!" [sic]

Nonsense. There are all kinds of people who might say this. For example: thinking people, objective people, honest people, concerned people, analytical people, tactical people, etc.

On the other hand, attempting to close minds and stifle discussion is certainly the tactic of a shill.

"KILL THE REVOLUTION" is

"KILL THE REVOLUTION" is what this thread might as well be called, the blimp is one of the best PR stunts thought of so far and some clown here wants to "KILL IT"? No that reeks of the type of garbage a paid shill would come here to spread in an attempt to create division and distraction. If people end up going with something better than the blimp eventually then fine, but right now proposing to “KILL IT” is absurd and suspect. And then trying to mix “free market” with “kill the blimp”? What? Yea the market will go with what’s effective and fund the Blimp, jog on shills.

That's right, I want to KILL the Blimp

Not because I'm a shill or I want to divide. Because the Blimp serves US and THEM. It is advertising, $500,000 that has not gone to Ron Paul. Half million that coudl have bought a LOT of local advertising.

It cost US $500,000 to ALSO give advertising of "Google Ron Paul". This is paid advertising for US, and FREE advertising for our opposition. Free advertising for "Google Ron Paul and READ THE NEGATIVE ARTICLE I WROTE ON RON PAUL".

Canvassing and Local adverising gives US 100% control over the message.

"Google Ron Paul" gives our opponent EQUAL control over the message.

I spend 10 minutes writing a thoughtful informed post on the merits of the blimp program and alternative media and a few morons here have the entire thread deleted?

Washington doesn't need more lawyers.
It needs a doctor!
Dr. Ron Paul *** RX for Freedom

Would you be so kind as to rewrite it?

As we move into the next phase of campaigning (past the Who is Ron Paul?) phase and into the "what exactly does he intend to do?"phase. Im torn as to what is more cost effective- blimp maintennence or issue education. I would never propose getting rid of the blimp- its "our thing" but i would tend to reserve its appearance for strategic showings- like over Vegas or something. While focussing on the local print ads in places we need support for. I see some really great stuff when i google "ron paul blimp sighting"- so theres no denying the blimp is effective- my question is is it effective enough to justify placing its importance above education at this point.

I'm not sure if they are morons or our opposition

Whether you agree with me or not is your right. But the idea of "Google Ron Paul" is just as much to our oppositions favor as ours. They can post negatives and then we are paying for the advertising, "Google Ron Paul" that leads people to read these negatives. The Blimp is just as much a marketing tool to our opponents as it is to us. They have an interest in keeping it up.

Google Ron Paul gives our opponents EQUAL VOICE in the message as they can post on "Google" (the internet) negatives of Ron Paul.

Canvassing and Local Adveritsing give US 100% control of the message.
