Single? Libertarian? Obviously Most of us are not Feverishly Looking for Love but Can We Find it at the Daily Paul?

Please comment if you're currently single and you would like others at the DP to know. As I just commented on another post I've been waiting for the day when someone comes along who would like to stand by my side in this battle for liberty.

I asked a question in chat a few minutes ago:

"Why is there such a shortage of libertarian women?"

The answer was that "Women like to feel safe."

Okay granted a lot of us get into a lot of trouble simply because we assert our rights. Where are the women who find that sort of thing attractive? Our society in this country has gone downhill... perhaps one of the primary reasons is because most women drop men like a bad habit as soon as they prove themselves to not be compliant and especially do not want to be with someone who "questions authority."

When did having a moral compass and unshakable principles become so unattractive?

My son found a liberty lover "in the rough."

She had been beaten up by the legal system and knew SOMETHING was way wrong. When she started dating my son, he started telling her what he thought was wrong.... I haven ever seen anyone wake up as fast as that girl. Now they are planning to start a family - but skip the part where they marry the state and turn their newborns over to the government.
This is a girl he knew for years, never asked her out because he had pretty much given up on women. He could not have a real relationship with a woman who thought he was "crazy" and he hides his "politics" from friends, but does not want to have to do that with a spouse. She actually asked him out, so he went more to not hurt her feelings than because he thought anything would come of it.
Good luck, folks. I see the reply below saying there is no such thing as love - bananas! Love has been redefined by Hollywood to mean "Great sex all day every day" and that is a fantasy. But a partner to share this world is something to cherish. If you find the partner who will cherish you, and you cherish them back, it can be the greatest blessing of life.
(33+ years and more in love than ever.)

Love or fear? Chose again with every breath.

The Bible says that women are more easily deceived.

Probably because they provide the emotional, nurturing side of the human equation.

Where does it say that?

I'm not aware of it.

Hey, thanks for calling me on that. I had to go back and search

the scriptures. :) The Bible says in 1Ti 2:14

And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

So, it doesn't say it exactly how I worded it, but the principle is there--especially if this verse is read in context. Satan knew who to approach if he wanted to deceive someone.

Also, lest I be accused of misogyny--I will also say, men are usually the brutal dictators in this world. And I would assume that it is because they are the more logic, fact-driven members of the human equation. It seems that God made us to complement each other and to fully express His image here on earth.

Eph 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
Eph 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
Eph 5:24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
Eph 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
Eph 5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
Eph 5:28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
Eph 5:29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
Eph 5:30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
Eph 5:31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
Eph 5:32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
Eph 5:33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

Well... I guess that's one interpretation.

I was curious and looked into it myself. Yes, that's the passage that not just you but many interpret to mean that women are more easily deceived. I wouldn't go so far as to say that might therefore make you a misogynist. But, it does read into it more than what the passage states. (As one article I read said, "It's a myth.") And I think it's important to note that it wasn't something Jesus said. Elsewhere, Paul distinguishes what Jesus said from his own opinions (in response to questions that had come back to him from new churches). That is, although enlightened, Paul was a mortal like all the rest of us, perhaps infusing personal experience or cultural bias into some of his responses? In this case, while he is using what happened in the Garden as justification for women to not teach, he did still say "a woman" had been deceived. And if my Bible is correct, it appears "a man" was, too! And I'm glad you quoted from Ephesians, because there Paul does exhort *mutual* love and respect. Still, to me the final authority on the subject is Jesus, who made no such comparisons between men and women and Who, even when during His time on earth "the law" was still in effect, *stood up* for women, who were not treated equally at the time - though not necessarily because of any of GOD's commandments. Well, for instance, Jesus mentions one example (re adultery), where Moses took it upon himself to change things. Well, I'm no authority. That's all just my own opinion. Thanks for responding. :)

Gee, wonder what's on the DP this morning

I hope it's something really interesting and...oh, another 'relationship' thread.

Maybe it's not one's political positions that makes oneself appear unattractive, but the amount of time spent online and/or the fact nobody likes someone who never shuts up about politics? Oh ho ho, couldn't be that though, because clearly it's someone else's fault!

Doesn't apply to some here but I get a funny feeling that's all it boils down to with a lot of folks.

I see the same complaints in video game themed message boards too. All the ronery guys there talk about how they're too smart for the average woman, yet seem to want to dry hump anything that breathes, and at least appears female.

I used to use all the same excuses, until I realized that nobody likes being endlessly corrected, told that they're "sheep" for liking (x), have quotes lobbed at them every twenty seconds while being told that you couldn't get her any roses because you'd feel guilty for contributing to the Floral-Industrial Complex.

What I'm getting at, is that to an "outsider", all that's going to add up to an awful lot of complaining, and who wants to date someone who constantly bitches about everything?

Also possibly relevant; wasn't there a Jung/Briggs Myers personality test thread earlier in the year a bunch of folks here took, and it suggested that the overwhelming majority of the DP is filled with introverts? (INTJ seemed to be especially popular, despite occurring in 1-2% of the general population...)

And with that...

lol!

haha, the floral industrial complex!

I dated a gamer once and that was that. Like you said they act as though they are "too smart for the average woman," but cannot seem to get away from a computer long enough to live in the real world.

A vote for Chris or Sue is a vote for pandas too.

A lot of my friends are gamers too, and yeah, it's always the same old song and dance. I always tell them that they come on WAY too strong when they finally get the nerve to talk to a woman, or they'll do the opposite and turn themselves into doormats. There's no balance.

That, and I always point out how gamer girls never seem to have the same problem, so don't go around blaming some sort of perceived prejudice against gamers (in fact, it's quite en vogue in many social circles nowadays).

I only say these things because I used to see it in myself, and have learned to change it. I'm not trying to put others down, just speaking from experience.

Lemons, lemonade.

If neocon females out number liberty, hook up with a neocon and convert her. Just break her in slowly ;-) Isn't our goal to spread the message?

hook up? What are you a dog???

You are so busted today you Obama dog. The message is not a STD.

(((((Granger)))))

I just saw this and busted a gut lol. Well, you know, some in the grassroots consider me leader of the pack, I just didn't figure you to be the jealous type :-P

But now that today is tomorrow, I hope that you will reconsider calling me an obama dog. I'm innocent until proven otherwise!

Hey, it was a play on words, not to the lovely women like yourself on this site. And fyi, my wing night bike has a solo seat... until I find the right one ;-) I'm as picky as they get.

Plus, it's dawg, not dog, lol.

What If Love Is A Brutal Authoritarian?

How can you believe in "Love"? You cannot scientifically prove it with repeatable factual information...

I grew up in a house of love and it was forced on me....
It tried it once and was burnt a couple times so i gave up...
Love was invented by people who want to control you're emotions....
Hate to break it to you but there is no such thing as "Love"....

"Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect" - Mark Twain

Evil always hides behind a shield, whether it's love or faith.

That doesn't make love or faith a fraud. It just reinforces that they represent what's good and right.

Being a loveless man goes hand in hand with being a nihilist. They can find no reason to be anything else. A TRULY dangerous nihilist will tell you about how they love you and how Christlike they are while they plan your demise.

Bump for the best comment I've ever seen on the DP.

Women have been lied to for decades

and the lie doesn't mesh with how we were created.

It's a confusing mess...

Our daughter is a college student and she definately leans toward the Libertarian mind-set...but then again her parents have taight her well. :-)

The law cannot make a wicked person virtuous…God’s grace alone can accomplish such a thing.

Of course, I'm single

For me being in college, one would think this would be an easier task to find liberty-loving women. But in the state of Indiana, it seems to not be the case.

I can only dream

of meeting a libertarian man with convictions I respect.
Add to that a prepper & farmer & I'd have to be dreaming.

I know I'm a buzzkill...but

Likely it would be as sausage-fest where the few females that joined would be swarmed...similar to female gamers.

We need to bring society back to where producers are rewarded once again, currently females have no need for men... they have big daddy government. Hell, I'm paying child support and I've fathered no children.

so true

if you don't mind me asking, how are you paying child support with no kids?
