Single? Libertarian? Obviously Most of us are not Feverishly Looking for Love but Can We Find it at the Daily Paul?

Please comment if you're currently single and you would like others at the DP to know. As I just commented on another post I've been waiting for the day when someone comes along who would like to stand by my side in this battle for liberty.

I asked a question in chat a few minutes ago:

"Why is there such a shortage of libertarian women?"

The answer was that "Women like to feel safe."

Okay granted a lot of us get into a lot of trouble simply because we assert our rights. Where are the women who find that sort of thing attractive? Our society in this country has gone downhill... perhaps one of the primary reasons is because most women drop men like a bad habit as soon as they prove themselves to not be compliant and especially do not want to be with someone who "questions authority."

When did having a moral compass and unshakable principles become so unattractive?

Sunny and Warm...

I hear that the heat in Florida is getting a bit too much with all these weather changes... South Carolina is looking good. Here on the Mason Dixon line, global warming has allowed me to grow fall crops like lettuce and cabbage into mid November and this year up thru December. Heck the grass was stll green a few days ago prior to the recent snow.

It's been super cold down here for years now. I am lovin' it too. The Florida Peach and macadamia trees are the new thing. They are cold hardy. Y'all will have to get your orange juice from somewhere else.

Feel free to drop me a line :-P

Happy New Year to all btw :)

I wouldn't say it's

That we like to "feel safe" (though stability is something most women look for in a man) so much as it is that once we decide things are a certain way and start to build our lives around that presumption it's going to be pretty difficult to convince us to change our way of thinking.

My situation is a little different though... I am speaking as a happily married woman who hasn't "dated" for 15+ years. I was who brought the liberty movement into our relationship... we were both pretty serious neocons prior to finding Dr. Paul.

Regardless, there are liberty minded ladies out there... there were lots of women in Tampa. I didn't feel near as outnumbered there as I do here on DP. Perhaps you can find one who doesn't have strong political preferences yet and help her find her way to liberty?

Ron Paul convert from the Heart of Dixie

Been there done that.

Not too willing to try it again. Thanks for your comment though :)

Sorry it's all I've got!!

I wish you luck though!! I do understand how difficult it is to be in a relationship with someone who doesn't (maybe just not yet) think like you. I went down this rabbit hole a whole lot faster than my husband did. Some days I think he's still a work in progress. ;)

Maybe this will help..

What do you bitches know about money?

The the jerk pulls our a wad of FRNs.. I'm really sorry I was not in that line up..

I would have said: "got gold?"

I have noticed...

There are some types of women out there that demand obedience and not much else. That's not to say that all of them are like that. Everyone has their faults.

Therein lies the fundamental problem.

As libertarians... we don't like ANYONE telling us what to do. I once spoke with an old guy who was married for over 50 years. I asked him what's his secret and he says "She's the boss."

Those guys don't really seem real happy.

Here's A Different View...

Couple was celebrating their 50th wedding and I was their waiter a few year back... I asked them their secret:

Chipper Man... "Fight Fight Fight"
Spritely Woman... "Then Kiss n Make Up, That's the Best Part"

Do us women a favor

and try not to generalize us. We are all unique, and beautiful in our own way. There are plenty of women who love liberty. Perhaps if a change is needed, it is in yourself, not the women? Maybe it even has nothing to do with your beliefs, just sayin?

The world is my country, all mankind are my brethren, and to do good is my religion.
-Thomas Paine

My bad

was not my intent. No I actually like me just the way I am. Not willing to change... in fact I'm not able to change. I've tried that too many times... I really don't like me when I change. If you see my comment below you will read how they don't like me once I change either.

I have no issues with initial attraction. I think they are initially attracted to the qualities I mentioned in the post however after a while they realize I REALLY AM on a mission... it wasn't just a figure of speech.

Here's how I see it. For every 7-10 people in this country there is one patriot. That means the patriots need to work at least 7 times as hard as the people not pulling their weight if we've got a snowball's chance in hell of succeeding in the goal.

Doesn't leave a heck of a lot of time for romance. I have seen some women out there who believe the cause itself is romantic. I could definitely see myself getting along great with someone who had a genuine interest in it... and hence a real love for who she is instead of a building sense of contempt that she's one of those 7-10 people who would rather bury their heads in the sand.

I'd like to know

What action(s) are you taking that require such effort? There is a lot of good in this world that could be done by simply not doing things.

As for romance, my suggestion would be to find a chick that smokes a lot of weed, or just settle for a relationship with a plant.

Just go caveman. Worked for me.

But things do have there drawback though. Like "keepin time," that sun dial wrist watch. Then there's that rabbit on top the TV, he keeps movin and the channel goes out, gettin tired of havin to run to get the car goin, it's wearin my shoes out.

Hey Wilma, get me a bear.

Ahhhh, don't expect very many to get it.

The caveman approach

was the first thing the feminist movement did away with. However I don't really have any urges to club a woman over the head and drag her back to the cave by her hair... I'd kinda like it to be her choice too.

Ug! Summore.....

You gotta cave too? COOL! I knew even you had a little cave man in ya.

Yeah I know watchya mean about the drag em around by the hair thing, it waz really wearin my arm out.....

At first 'bonk' we both got along really well and she was stary-eyed and all for daze.

But I don't know sumthins changed. We decided to go back to livin in this new modern society and all, now I gotta new-times watch, new-times TV & car but were still usin them 'fossil fuels' (I know, I know, don't even go there).

But I dunno, for sum reason this new-times society kinda sucks, in it's own way. I just dunno, we got kinda burnt out with livin the old ways and now we find were not to keen on these new wayz either.

Well, ya know what they say about the grass bein greener on the other side, so were still searchin. Hey know what barrok means in cave man?

Well anywayz, like I said, as of last night, times are a changin. Now she's draggin me around by the.....

You should check out the Vice Documentary on Bride Kidnapping in Kyrgyzstan.

There, if you don't kidnap a woman, you just don't love her.

My take

I do not think that having a moral compass makes someone unattractive, I think what scares some females away from the libertarian party is the idea that it is "extreme." Most females I know tend to shy away from anything considered extreme, and the media along with the two other parties have put a lot of effort into making the libertarian party look like an extremist group.

Your statement, a keen one, is an understatement. Sad too. Dinosaur tear drop sized sad.

Few people distinguish between freedom and tyranny and which of those two conditions balance resides in and unbalance resides in. Sure, everyone commits oversights and has foibles. The freedom individual, a person who learns constantly because he is reflective, learns from his errors. The nonfreedom person, yikes. He goes headstrong into wrongness and lashes out if someone attempts to nudge him to self reflection, the time spent at the position of someone receiving his activity and the relationship between his position and that person's position. Our country has problems, big problems.
