Only the government can

Only the government can create a crisis and then assure us they will fix it.

Bob Marshall

I suppose that it has been

I suppose that it has been blow up. But it isn't like the tax cuts aren't going to expire, that spending cuts aren't coming into effect.

That Senator Tom Harkin voted

That Senator Tom Harkin voted nay is beyond hilarious. Harkin must have wanted even more spending is the only answer I can think of. I believe he may be the biggest spender in history.

BTW - Keep your eye on Senator Harkin. He's doing some finagling with committee assignments. It's being said in Iowa that he's still working to arrange a govt takeover of our 401ks. He's held hearings on this very thing in the past.

The Washington Times

Already calls this the first vote of the 2016 primary

Rubio is politicking to keep his record close to Rands

Who voted no.

The eight senators voting no were Michael Bennet (D-CO), Tom Carper (D-DE), Charles Grassley (R-IA), Tom Harkin (D-IA), Mike Lee (R-UT), Rand Paul (R-KY), Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Richard Shelby (R-AL).

Not voting were Jim DeMint (R-SC), Mark Kirk (R-IL), and Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ)

Has Rubio EVER said what he

Has Rubio EVER said what he is willing to cut? We know he won't cut Pentagon spending or foreign aid, so does he want to balance the budget by raiding SS and Medicare? He has revived talk of compassionate conservatism, saying he wants to increase pell grants, pay for vouchers, etc. It drives me crazy how he is now the default GOP candidate, without having to ever make hard choices.

I spoke with a family member yeasterday who now regrets his hardcore support for Bush and the wars, but guess who he likes now? Rubio. Argggggh!

"Fiscal Cliff" is the new DHS terror threat level chart

They both serve the same purpose; to keep Americans on edge and feeling helpless while they look toward government to make it all better.

"Be afraid America. We're at level orange, 'Fiscal Cliff' on the financial meltdown chart".

If men are good, you don't need government; if men are evil or ambivalent, you don't dare have one.

Up next: The Taxman Axe-man!

You make an interesting observation

Just the other day, I was wondering "what ever happened to that threat level nonsense?" Perhaps the color-coding was a tad childish, even for the average American. Or maybe it just wasn't 'sexy' enough to catch on.

"Fiscal cliff" sounds much more dangerous and sexy, at least compared to "threat level yellow". Too Cold War era.

A signature used to be here!

I don't trust Rubio

Good vote but I think it was political for a possible run in 2016. Now he can play the "I voted for fiscal conservatism" card and then, if he gets elected, go back to a Keynesian model that helps out his buddies (the Bush family amongst them).

See my response below.

Mark These 89 Well....For removal from office

It's time we started taking out the trash...They don't give a hoot about us....The American people..

They wait until the last minute to do the people's business and then they breath a sigh of relief, accomplishing nothing more than raising our taxes and giving us more freaking debt...

Degenerate scum!

Rubio's vote is out of character - but will give him credit

for the "nay". He probably does see Rand as serious competition.

Out of character, indeed.

I'm working on comparison sheets for all potential candidates, this time it will be published well in advance. I have lots of stuff on rubio now, he isn't looking so good, lol. And if he does happen to mysteriously vote accordingly, he's going to end up like flip-flop mitt. He can't change the past.

"What if the American people learn the truth" - Ron Paul

Thanks for your work - I'm looking forward to the

comparison - I've had a couple of run-ins with Rubio's office and am losing patience.

Sen. Johnson (R-WI)

Ran as a small government tea party type but has been in the Federal Reserve's back pocket, votes against civil liberties and the Fourth Amendment, and topped it off by voting for Obama's taxes without spending cuts.

I'm not going to criticize Rubio for doing something right preferring, instead, to criticize Republican senators who voted with Obama.

Jaime Dupree? Thank you so much!

I remember him from hearing the news in Tulsa. (KRMG) I was surprised to hear Rubio voted against this..HMMM. Riding Paul's coattails, maybe?

The fiscal cliff was created in 1913 by

a group of Rothschild minions, the creatures of jackal island. Its time to get rid of this criminal enterprise that has enslaved humanity into a false compounding debt called national debts only for the reason to use said false debt to justify any and every type of immoral theft extortion and mass murders called war.

Rubio, tryin to get some points with the liberty movement are ya.....

Not going to work old chum./

Let's screw the American people: 89-8. Thrown under the bus.

Do they even ask themselves why are we doing something stupid and pretending they are solving anything?

Free includes debt-free!

Rubio probably only voted No

to keep pace with Rand, and not make a Paul Ryan Tarp mistake

Yeah...it kind of reminds me

of the defensive player assigned to shadow a speedy quarterback in football. I can hear the establishment leaders saying, "Marco, whatever Rand does, you do it, too."

Rubio is the "co-opt the position" voter. He'll vote like Rand for the next 4 years so then when it comes to choosing a Presidential candidate for the Republican party they can say "Rubio is every bit as fiscally conservative as Rand PLUS he can attract the Hispanic vote for the Republicans". Meanwhile Rubio is almost certainly an "establishment candidate" who has no true principles. Rand I'm not 100% sure about but I feel a million times better about him than Rubio (and I still don't dismiss the idea that Rand is a "secret Ron" but just waiting for the right time to reveal it).
