Campaign Concerned About Incorrect Caucus Location Information Provided by the Nevada GOP

Please read and spread the word in Nevada:

The Ron Paul presidential campaign has learned that thousands of Republican voters, including thousands of Ron Paul supporters, have received incorrect caucus location information from the Nevada State Republican Party.

Incorrect information about caucus locations has been given to voters throughout the state, specifically in Washoe and Clark, the two largest counties in the state.

Postcards sent to registered Republicans by the Nevada State GOP contained inaccurate caucus locations and the state GOP website caucus locator http://locator.nvgopcaucu... was directing voters to inaccurate caucus locations until 6 pm Wednesday evening.

The call center outside of

The call center outside of Reno is seeking volunteers on Friday, Jan 18. We'll be running from 9am - 9pm at 1530 E Greg St #3. Please call Brandon at 775-331-1570 if you can show up any of these times or just show up.

We're doing 4 things today, in order of priority:

1. taking inbound calls
2. making outbound "get out the vote" calls
3. calling folks to be precinct helpers (organizing on site)
4. location facilitators

Vegas will be turning over their call center to us at 3pm. Please get here ASAP.

"There is now a correct caucus location list.

correct caucus location

I've been working at the campaign call center in Sparks, outside of Reno, for a week and we discovered people were getting registration cards with the wrong location on it several days ago. Our first workaround was to refer people to their county GOP to verify.

I called the Washoe and Clark county county and GOP offices and discovered the GOP was infuriated with the County because they were getting inundated with calls. The County told me someone mixed up and/or introduced "old data" into their database. With no way to verify their claim, I asked them to verify a few addresses. They were getting an enormous number of calls too.

Before we compiled an accurate list of caucus locations, we used the following websites to aid us.

In Washoe county:

To find the precinct number for a voter
http://www.co.washoe.nv.us/voters/
Note - polling location is NOT caucus location

To find caucus location for a voter with the precinct number

In Clark County

To find the precinct number for a voter
http://www.co.clark.nv.us/election/home.asp
Note - polling location is not caucus location

To find the caucus location for a voter:

We've been checking and double checking with caucus goers with their correct locations while informing them of the county's error. The only way to make sure Ron gets the vote is for people to show up to the right location the first time.

HQ should go through their donor list and identify all donors in NV. They need to be contacted about the correct locations and to tell their friends and family to do the same.

Nevada!

I'm thinking if you still don't know, get out early enough to be able to switch locations if instructed. As long as we are aware of the situation, we can outsmart them.

MESSAGE FROM HQ

I just spoke to HQ and they are looking into this as fast as they can and will post something on the official website as soon as they find out.

Also, this is a message I was asked to pass on:

Multiple thousands of volunteers are needed immediately with cameras to oversee the recount of the ballots, according to Albert Howard, candidate who ordered and paid for this.

If interested report to the Archives Building in Concord, NH., located at 71 South Fruit St.

Please help

I just got off the phone with the NH SOS, William Gardner, an hour long call. He will be at the above address, conducting the Democratic recount. He needs a little more persuasion to start the Republican recount NOW instead of waiting until after the Democratic recount is finish. He was originally considering it. He needs a little more persuasion. And yes, please volunteer as an "observer" and bring video cameras if you have them.

Nevada is necessary

Get the votes out. If the other candidates can't get their people to the right place then thats greats for Ron Paul.

Are CA Ron Paul supporters going to nevada to rally Votes?

I can;t go but i'am hoping alot of CA Ron Paul supporters, are going to NV to help get votes??

We need a good showing in NV..

Go Ron Paul

Nevada is important for Paul

From analyzing this race very closely I would say that Nevada holds a significant amount of importance for Paul

www.wakeuplate.com

For him to win he must get all of his voters to the polls on saturday.

I agree- Ron Paul could show big in Nevada

"Show" as in third place, would be good. First Place would be awesome!

Nevada is very important, for many there support him, big-time. All you have to do is drive around and you see the signs...

And, once again, the internet searches are wild for him in Nevada:

Simple Solution for Incorrect location

The campaign just needs to get a few volunteers or even pay a few people to hang out at the wrong locations with a stack of printed directions to the correct location. Perhaps a sign saying something like "Where do I Vote?" would also be helpful.

I don't know how to contact the campaign, precinct captains or whatever, but this would solve the problem.

You dont understand...

Washoe county (where they are telling people to caucus) is 542 miles from these people's precincts in Clark County (Las Vegas)

Thanks for clarifying... I

Thanks for clarifying... I didn't understand!

WTF?!?

What is going on????

Same thing happened in Nov '06

Thats when we elected a new Governor.
Up until the DAY of the election. My Voting location was reported incorrectly.
There was a tiny little blurb placed on the Website, nearly unnoticeable, redirecting voters to the correct location. I almost didn't vote.

Go EARLY, make sure you have time to adjust, if it turns out your location is wrong.

To say it affects all candidates equally is kinda misleading

And the only reason I say this is because as most people know, Ron Paul has been hitting Nevada hard with air-time, radio, appearances, etc... while other Repub candidates were heavily focused on Michigan and/or South Carolina. This is a fact. Even some of the pundits are wondering if RP can pull out a win given the fact that he is basically the only Repub doing the heavy lifting & spending to earn a win.

Of course, it is likely the case the state GOP just made an honest mistake. It isn't the first time nor will it be the last that communication between various individuals within the party gets messed up and incorrect information goes out. So I wouldn't be asking for heads to Roll just yet. This does not mean investigations should not be done. But an accusation based only on speculation is no proof at all. Wait and see... get the RP peeps the right information and let us hope that they get the job done.

If it later turns out that shenanigans were involved by the state GOP to intentionally decrease caucus turnout among Republicans (we already know Obama has most of the union support in Vegas and will likely have a good showing and win on the D side) then we hit the streets. Caution should be exercised until more facts are known.

Most important thing - make sure the RP supporters get the right information and make sure they show up in large numbers. The rest should take care of itself.

I presume the news media

I presume the news media aren't reporting this adequately.

Perhaps the campaign can add a blurb to the end of the commercials, telling the voters that false information had been distributed by mail and on the web site and directing them to the updated web site.

Or better yet, direct them to a link to the correct information on the campaign web site . B-)

Nevada Polls?

Has anybody seen the results of the polls for Nevada? I've been searching for them but they don't seem to be available anywhere.

Seems not just Paul Supporters...

It seems that this is a state wide problem and not just among Paul supporters. I think what the campaing is doing is commendable in bringing it to the attention of the state GOP.

Is it to our advantage though to really press the issue? A delay would only allow other candidates to come in later and woo voters to their campaign. Also, assuming it affects all supporters equally, I think that Paul supporters are most likely to figure out where the right caucus site is. It will probably be the people who are not as active that may have the problems Saturday morning.

The only way it affects our percentage is if a higher percent of Pauls' support comes from these counties, rather than other areas.

billybernardo: It seems

billybernardo: It seems that this is a state wide problem and not just among Paul supporters. ...

You can bet that a lot of the machine politicians' supporters know about it. This kind of thing is one of the ways that political machines keep power.

Now it might be an honest mistake. But I wouldn't bet the farm on it.

Wrong address

No matter what, that is not a mistake acceptable for a Presidential Election. It must be investigated, and for those responsible serious punishment, so others who may want to use such "below-the belt" tactics", or other ones, think twice before they will consider doing something so stupid and illegal.

Additional Point

Dr. Paul has a chance to win this state too. They know this.

This could be a good thing?

Assuming that all registered Republicans received incorrect information, Ron Paul supporters will be more likely to resolve the problem when it comes time to vote.

I don't think any of us is

I don't think any of us is really in favor of "winning" unfairly. Let the numbers be whatever the numbers are.
