Paper That Outed Gun Owners Hires Armed Security

The Journal News of West Nyack, N.Y., has hired armed security guards to defend its offices after receiving a torrent of phone calls and emails responding to the paper's publication of the names and addresses of area residents with pistol permits.

RGA Investigations, a private security company, "is doing private security at on location at the Journal News as a result of the negative response to the article," according to a police report first obtained by the Rockland County Times (Nanuet, N.Y.) and shared with POLITICO. The guards "are armed and will be on site during business hours through at least January 2, 2013."

Lots of this type

of backlash will occur for those advocating the unarming of the citizenry. Wonder if their conscience is bothering them...

What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

When your life is threatened you want to protect yourself...why is this concept so hard to understand for these types?

The law cannot make a wicked person virtuous…God’s grace alone can accomplish such a thing.

Perhaps they could get Diane Feinstein

to make a guest armed guard appearance. I'll bet these clowns do a false flag threat to pursue their goal.

There are no politicians or bankers in foxholes.

Now, if someone would just publish the names and...

addresses of the employees of the security company, we would be getting somewhere.

Why didn't the Journal News

just put up one of those "No weapons allowed" signs; Make its offices a "gun free zone." That will make them safe.

It Would've Been Funny

Funny if that company told them to go F*#k themselves.

Aside from the obvious

Aside from the obvious indecency of their publishing people's personal info, the situation points out the need to force government to have privacy policies to protect personal info. It should not be a matter of public record when you are forced to put down your home address in order to gain a permit. I think in my state the DMV records are not searchable by the public so that your info and address are not accessible. I wonder if there are known ways to shield your personal info in when dealing with the gov't.

Seems each time gun-control advocates "target" gun-rights supporters, their efforts "backfire."
Advice: Stop playing with faulty weapons.

Ohhh the hypocrisy,

they want gun's to protect them... how ironical =P

The DP is proof that the grassroots support for Ron Paul and his peaceful message of individual liberty is large, real, and not going away!

it's "how ironic",

Ok this media message is, Its not ok to own a gun but

its ok to hire somone who owns a gun to protect you. Wonder if those who were hired were some of the people they published as gun owners. H Y P R I C R I T paper. Once again in your face, do as i say and not as I do.

Its the good people who own guns that protect you against the bad people who owne guns. To attack the very people who would protect you is pure insanity. This news media fits that bill.

With freedom (of the press) comes great responsibility

I hope they go broke now- but they wont.. The gvt will rescue them, they ALWAYS do when its bidding is done.

The paper wasn't doing well already, and

I know tea party people who have now cancelled their subscription as a result of this - people who do *not* have permits. It's the principle of the thing. And don't be so sure that they won't go broke. Newspapers have been folding left and right.

"Rapidly declining advertising revenues continue to be the industry’s core problem. The losses in 2011 were slightly worse than those of 2010 – 7.3% compared to 6.3%. Ad revenues are now less than half what they were in 2006." http://stateofthemedia.org/2012/newspapers-building-digital-...

No one's asking me, but if I were the publisher, I'd fire the reporter, remove the map, and issue a statement "Although we feel that we had a legal right to inform, in light of.." Where are the p.r. people?!

The Galveston County Daily News(Oldest newspaper in Texas) in Dr. Pauls district- who never mentioned him except when he ran for congress and president at the same time- should have been put out of business years ago- instead became involved in a rollup and is now owned by a Tennessee firm that owns something like 12 papers nationwide. and took gvt bailout money.
but I know what youre saying, some go out of business and others accept government money to stay afloat and do their bidding

Thanks for the reality check, I guess. But I remain optimistic!

We hate guns, let's out all the evil gun owners. FK they got mad at us, we better hire some people with guns to protect us!!

Bwhahahaha I don't even know how people go along with this.

Ironic Much?

This is how dumb liberals/communists are. They just can't see the hypocrisy in their actions.

Good comments

but why isn't anyone pissed off at this? These guys published private information on private gun owners and no one is prosecuted??!! What am I missing?

That, to me, is the "WTF" part.

Lima-1, out.

If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

It's Not Private Information

It was a list of those holding public permits. The government gave them the information.

"You can't defend the second amendment without defending the fourth amendment."--Rand Paul

"Bipartisan: both parties acting in concert to put both of their hands in your pocket."-Rothbard

I don't agree that it's not private information.

There is an expectation of privacy for much information that is shared with the government. For instance, grounds for divorce and other divorce papers which have personal information in them - necessary for certain rulings but no one else's business. If anything the government has can be published, with the new health care laws that will have the government privy to medical records, can we expect medical records to be published?

Great Point

I wonder how those advocating on behalf of "the public good" of knowing where the guns are (because we don't want them in the hands of the mentally ill) would say if asked whether that means the government should publish the medical records of mental health patients because, presumably, that would complete the other half of the equation.

"Bipartisan: both parties acting in concert to put both of their hands in your pocket."-Rothbard

And therein lies the point!

The 2nd Amendment is our last line of defense and you don't bring a knife to a gunfight. This publication has unwittingly proved this point. As it stands now Americans are already WAY outgunned by our government.

And to those who would argue, "Oh, that will never happen - there will never be a need for that kind of response", I would pose the question... You mean never AGAIN? How many examples do you need, starting with the indigenous people of THIS land? Or perhaps some miraculous force in the universe has recently and forever changed the historical record of human nature that I'm unaware of?

The bottom line is this... Hate and lust for power, forever a part of human nature, does not seize to exist because some law was passed.

If men are good, you don't need government; if men are evil or ambivalent, you don't dare have one.

Rockland County (NY) Times re Journal News & gun owners

"The Journal News is Armed and Dangerous"

Yes! Putnam County will NOT be supplying the names of that county's registered gun owners.

Not Funny

They probably got threats from the anti-gun activists trying to smear gun-owners.

Don't be a part of that.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

Nothing threatening according to police

"However, the police did not find the communications in question actually threatening."

Check out the full article at Politico, if you dare.

No where in that article did it ever say that anyone was threatened with violence. It did, however, say that they are keeping their map online and adding another county to it and that what "is good for the goose, is NOT good for the gander". Is taking stupid pills a requirement to work at that paper? WTF?
