Believe it or not, reports are starting to come in from all over the country that ICE is suddenly interested in learning about employers who hire illegal aliens.
We are hearing that citizens who report employers who knowingly are hiring illegal aliens, are getting a good response.

The new number to call to report employers who are knowingly hiring quantities of illegal aliens is (toll free): 1-866-DHS-2-ICE

Apparently, after years of ignoring our calls it appears that the agency is putting on a new face, perhaps, for the new Congress. Whether this new initiative will be long-term or short-lived is anybody's guess. But the time to make those calls is now.

How it works:
.
You are not required to provide your identity to ICE. All that is necessary to request an investigation by ICE is mere suspicion of employers hiring illegals. But any kind of documentation or eye witness to such activities only increases the odds that they will act. Both ICE and the IRS are especially interested in "visiting" those businesses that employ ILLEGALS "off the books" to avoid the payment of payroll taxes.

Small and large businesses are equally notorious in the hiring of ILLEGAL aliens to avoid paying fair wages to its workers and to criminally evade the collection and payment of payroll taxes. Whether the business hires one ILLEGAL alien or several hundred, ICE and IRS want to know about it.

We would appreciate it if you would let us know how helpful or unhelpful ICE has been in taking your information and following up on your complaint. And we will pass that information to Congressmen who are monitoring their activities.

Illegal immigration didn't
Illegal immigration didn't get to this point it in a single day. The whole issue is a matter of incentives. Protect the borders for the sake of national security, remove federal incentives to illegals (medical care, education, etc.), eliminate the minimum wage to encourage legal hiring at a market rate, and then wait the whole thing out for about a generation while those who choose to stay here give birth to legal citizens or those who choose to leave find it too difficult to return.
It lowers taxes and doesn't cost us a dime other than building the fence. A relatively peaceful way to fix the problem if one can be a little patient.

The RNC has finally figured out that the "illegal alien issues" are going to be a deciding factor in the election.
They likely used their political contacts to increase the "perception" (and short term activities) that they are doing something. You can expect a quick unannounced reversal if McCain/Romney/Huckabee/Thompson/Hillary/Obama/Giuliani are elected.
It's also ILLEGAL to hire ILLEGAL aliens.
Why would anybody feel bad about reporting crime? Hiring illegal aliens hurt every single American. When you turn criminals in, honest people do better.

The biggest problem with illegal immigration
I live in Tucson AZ. I found out just a week ago that 30 illegals who didn't speak Spanish (and of course didn't speak English) were found 4 miles from my house. I'm only about 50 miles from the border. The worst thing is it took the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps to find them and report them to the Border Patrol. If the Minutemen were not out there these 30 illegals would have been anywhere in America by now.
I have no other info on who they were or where they were from. They might have just been people here looking for work like 99% of them are. But the Border Patrol does catch people with confirmed ties to terrorists coming across the border. This in itself shows the real war on terror is on our border and not in Iraq.
I don't even need to go into the cost that the other 99% cause us when it comes to hospitals. Go to any ER here in southern AZ and you're going to be waiting in a long line behind a lot of people here illegally.
Americans used to be proud to report crime.
What a mess we have gotten into when people want to save people from the pain of doing ILLEGAL stuff.

this is a tough call...
telling on your neighbor...i say neighbor because i do live in a small town...but these guys employing illegal aliens are doing so to get away with paying decent wages to Americans...i guess seeing them drive around in their expensive vehicles and taking great vacations is incentive enough, isn't it? they screw the American workworce to live more extravagantly...it is still a tough call, though

I'm guessing that one of my neighbors got my info from the trash
because for the past 5 years i've been getting letters from the social security department addressed to someone who has been using my name, address, phone number, and a fake SS# (not mine, thank god) to work for a sweat-shop clothing manufacturer in my city.
This person has also been using my info to go to the emergency rooms of various hospitals around town, and rack up big bills. While I'm not being held accountable for the bills, I get phone calls and letters from hospital collection agencies on a regular basis.
The letters from the SS dept. are amazingly friendly. they basically say, "Hello so and so, we've tried to apply your ss credit to your account, but your ss# is wrong. can you please contact us so we can allocate your funds?"
I've called the SS offices multiple times to correct this and they don't care at ALL. They don't even want to take down the information. They just say, well, as long as this person doesn't have your SS#, you don't have to worry about it... it's not your problem.
Seems like the SS dept. is happy to have the extra cash. They must make a significant profit off of unaccounted for SS payments from undocumented workers. hopefully they are using it to cover the SS deficit, but somehow I doubt it.
I've also called the national identity theft hotline, and they didn't do much either. The guy i talked to reiterated that as long as my ss# is not being used, it's no big deal. They just took my name and said they would put it on the books.
I've called the company who is employing this person and was told that she no longer works there... which is strange because I get the same letter from the SS dept every year, and it lists this company as the employer each time.
Doesn't seem like the federal or local government has any interest in preventing this kind of stuff from happening... their lack of oversight makes them complicit as far as I'm concerned.

i feel so weird about calling a raid on somebody
I wish there was a way I could just get this person to stop using my info instead of calling the immigration police on them. unfortunately I've tried several options, including speaking with the employer directly, and it hasn't worked.
I don't have a problem with getting the business in trouble for running an illegal sweat shop, but I don't feel good about wrecking havoc on one of my neighbors lives... even though they came here illegally.

This bothers me a little bit.
I completely agree illegal immigration needs to be stopped and everything must be done to help.
But is fining a buisness the way to do it? I do not think a small buisness should have to check out every employee it hires. If the person is walking down the street in America I should be able to assume he is legal.
We should be able to fine the federal government for not doing its job not the small buisness owner. We should be cracking down on them not helping them crack down on us.
Not to mention what happens to illegal after he gets arrested? Is he shipped home at the tax payers expence? He then takes the next bus back into the US?
Maybe I am wrong. But if a person wants to earn a honest day pay for a honest day of work in the USA it should be allowed. this is a failure of the executive branch not the business owner.

As far as fines, I hate to say it but it is the sole "responsibility" of the employers to know who is on their pay roll. With LIBERTY comes RESPONSIBILITY. I know it's tough for the small time business owner to make a go of it these days especially. But can we just allow them to say, I didn't know he was illegal all the while he is getting by paying this poor guy slave labor wages??? Not to mention....illegals don't pay taxes !!

This reminds me of a notice
This reminds me of a notice that appeared in an Arizona newspaper several months ago. It gave a phone # for people to call if they saw children in a vehicle who weren't wearing seat belts. We (concerned citizens) were assured that the drivers would be sent a polite reminder of the law and a description of where and when they were "caught", but no legal action would be taken.
Are we really to a point where we need to spy on each other for infractions that were perfectly legal less than 20 years ago?
I'm not saying that law-breakers should not be punished, but I am concerned about becoming a nation where we conform to all kinds of mandates just because someone told us to and peole are afraid of being reported
