Video: The 'War on Terror' - By Design - Can Never End

As the Pentagon's former top lawyer urges that the war be viewed as finite, the US moves in the opposite direction

Last month, outgoing pentagon general counsel Jeh Johnson gave a speech at the Oxford Union and said that the War on Terror must, at some point, come to an end:

"Now that efforts by the US military against al-Qaida are in their 12th year, we must also ask ourselves: How will this conflict end? . . . . 'War' must be regarded as a finite, extraordinary and unnatural state of affairs. We must not accept the current conflict, and all that it entails, as the 'new normal.' Peace must be regarded as the norm toward which the human race continually strives. . . .

"There will come a tipping point at which so many of the leaders and operatives of al-Qaida and its affiliates have been killed or captured, and the group is no longer able to attempt or launch a strategic attack against the United States, that al-Qaida will be effectively destroyed."

On Thursday night, MSNBC's Rachel Maddow interviewed Johnson, and before doing so, she opined as follows:

"When does this thing we are in now end? And if it does not have an end — and I'm not speaking as a lawyer here, I am just speaking as a citizen who feels morally accountable for my country's actions — if it does not have an end, then morally speaking it does not seem like it is a war. And then, our country is killing people and locking them up outside the traditional judicial system in a way I think we maybe cannot be forgiven for."

It is precisely the intrinsic endlessness of this so-called "war" that is its most corrupting and menacing attribute, for the reasons Maddow explained. But despite the happy talk from Johnson, it is not ending soon. By its very terms, it cannot. And all one has to do is look at the words and actions of the Obama administration to know this.

In October, the Washington Post's Greg Miller reported that the administration was instituting a "disposition matrix" to determine how terrorism suspects will be disposed of, all based on this fact: "among senior Obama administration officials, there is broad consensus that such operations are likely to be extended at least another decade." As Miller puts it: "That timeline suggests that the United States has reached only the midpoint of what was once known as the global war on terrorism."

Ending the wars. Gee, they're

thinking about talking about it. It's only been 12 years. What's the rush? sheesh.

“Throw down your arms! Ye villains, ye rebels.” - British major

Fighting Breaks Out in Lexington and Concord, April 19, 1775

At dawn on April 19, some 700 British troops arrived in Lexington and came upon 77 militiamen gathered on the town green. A British major yelled, “Throw down your arms! Ye villains, ye rebels.” The heavily outnumbered militiamen had just been ordered by their commander to disperse when a shot rang out. To this day, no one knows which side fired first. Several British volleys were subsequently unleashed before order could be restored. When the smoke cleared, eight militiamen lay dead and nine were wounded, while only one Redcoat was injured.

The British then continued into Concord to search for arms, not realizing that the vast majority had already been relocated. They decided to burn what little they found, and the fire got slightly out of control. Hundreds of militiamen occupying the high ground outside of Concord incorrectly thought the whole town would be torched. The militiamen hustled to Concord’s North Bridge, which was being defended by a contingent of British soldiers. The British fired first but fell back when the colonists returned the volley. This was the “shot heard ‘round the world” later immortalized by poet Ralph Waldo Emerson.

I thought this was kind of scary

I'm surprised that this isn't getting more attention, especially considering that it is almost prophetic.

Good video w/ Maddow. At

Good video w/ Maddow. At least someone in the media is questioning what we're doing.

Always find it odd that....

I always find it odd that most people when talking about situations like this refer to this as "we are doing", "we are at war", "we are over there" etc...

Reality is, "WE" are not doing anything and "I" am right here.

For instance, I am not at war. I am not involved in this crap fraud called the "war on terror" which is nothing more than a stupid childish label put on this "conquer the world escapade" by the US government for purposes to convince the general population that this "War" has some legitimacy.

I am not part of the "We". The "We" is technically not "Us". So when people refer to say WW2 in terms when someone today talks about it and says "we fought germany in ww2". We didn't do s-h-i-t. Reality is, most of us were NOT EVEN alive so how could "we" have done anything????? Riddle me that 1!

Don't connect me with the we because that is EXACTLY how this government wants me to relate to this obsurd stupid a's's conflict called a "war on terror".

So, I am NOT at war with Iraq, Afghanastan, Pakistan, Libya, Africa or the rest of the world for that matter. In fact, I probably have MORE in common with the average people of those countries than I do with the pieces of crap "politicians" who "authorize" a military dictatorship to send troops wherever this "war on terror" may lead. I mean today's politicians believe that they own "Us" by their actions. Their actions speak VOLUMES as to what they actually think about us. And the reality is they don't think too highly of us.

To me it's simple. There is a military dictatorship practically running this country and they have the military service men and women hostage to have it do what they want it to do for purposes of "Control" and "Resource management" around the globe. A stupid geo politically motivated chess game is being played and WE ARE THE PAWNS!!!

This Government, which is not my government, because it is definitely not a constitutional government, has decided to take over parts of the world by using force for the purpose of God knows what (here's a hint, it's NOT for "we's" benefit)using the moniker of the "War on terror"

How in the F'in world do you declare war on a tactic?????!!!!!! That is SOME Ultra odd s;h'i't!!!!!!

Faith in God will prevail all things!

Touche. Your point is

Touche. Your point is well-taken. Although it is a subconscious semantic choice, I do lump myself in with the corruption by putting it in those terms. I'll try to purposefully separate myself from my government, and separate the average American from them as well, in the future.

Thanks E

Lots of things that can never end:

The war on terror
The Fed's easy money policy.

They can't end, but they can't go on forever, either. Eventually both will end. Maybe it will take the end of the country to end both of the above.

Thanks for posting friend. Hope you had a nice holiday season.
