Only 22 votes for Dr. Paul medal? What?
Submitted by mjvmd03 on Sun, 01/06/2013 - 09:22Seriously? Only 22 of Dr.Pauls millions of fans think he deserves a medal of freedom? If he doesn't, just who the heck does???
Theres even a clause to have the medal funded by donations.
I cant believe more people signed petitions to disclose info on aliens.
Cant we do better?

Medals? Medals? He don't need
Medals? Medals? He don't need no stinking medals!

this is a VERY noble cause...
but the scum you are asking do NOT deserve to be asked as they would NEVER do this, anyway
we, the people should give him our own heartfelt thanks (we did, where ever he went)
this group of scallywags (congress) with their 17% approval rating deserve none of our attention...
lets do it without them (we're having to save our country without them, aren't we?)
its 'cos I owe ya, my young friend...

Kudos to your passionate desire to honor Dr. Ron Paul!
But I don't think any piece of metal, even Nobel Peace Prize (which would only place him right in the same category with Obm. . . ugh), would do justice to what Ron Paul and RP r3VOLution are about.
What Dr RonPaul has accomplished and what he is about to *help us start in earnest* is to preserve and reignite Americans' (and all other humans') LOVE for LIBERTY. It's an earth-shaking movement of hearts, minds and bodies. . . the best way to honor him is to dedicate our whole being - ourselves - to the cause. A tiny medal from the hands of neoconned assassination tyrant won't do it ;-)
The medal isnt the point
I like the idea of all of us goving him a medal. Id gladly donate the gold myself.
But my advocacy os not so Dr. Paul can have a shiny disc of yellow metal. Its an attempt to use the system for OUR purposes: have a successful petition and the elites must respond. Have a wildly successful petition and they may even have to take notice. Have a stupendously successful petition and news articles might get written.
He might even e offered the award, which he could either accept and give a hum-dinger of a speech or refuse and give a speech.
The more people who hear of the message and realize there are tons of people out there with similar ideas, the more will wake up.
But if a petition to honor him cant gather more signatures than one about aliens or piers morgan, it would leave the choice of whether, and how, to cover the failure to the media elites.
As for people being afraid to set up an acvount at tbe WH site: do you think they dont know who you are already, particularly if you visit the daily pail?!? Of youre here, youre on their radar already so trying to hide behind a fig leaf wont help.
Petitioning The Government
Is playing by their rules. If we want to honor Ron Paul we need to leave the government out of it.
skippy
Running under gop was "playing by their rules"
I honestly just don't understand opposition. The medal wont cost taxpayers (according to the petition) and it would really stick in tbe craw of the elite for us to have a successful petition. Besides which, Ron Paul ACTUALLY deserves such a medal, particularly if HIS is privately funded (as opposed to, say, billionsire buffet who took a taxpayer funded one!)
NO one is asking for Federal Funds and no one can honestly believe Ron Paul would think the award actually from the President (if they actually decided to award him). The exposure of an award (or even a successful petition) would raise the profile of the movement and might wakebup a few people. It might certainly remove some of the "kook" arguments.
People have suggested we make a medal for Dr.Paul. Thats a great idea. But do you think that would be covered? Do you think the media would cover that honestly? They didnt cover him when legions showed up gor campaign events, trust me they wont cover a few supporters giving him a chunk of gold regardless of its name.
A Presidential medal, will invite exposure. A refusal of such an award by Dr. Paul would be even more news worthy. The speech Dr. Paul could give at the ceremony alone coukd be epic.
But instead everyone wants to take the route of silence, of pouting and refusing to "play by their rules"; this despite the fact that Dr.Pauls campaign was predicated on the idea of needing to operate within the system, if only a little, in order to spread the message.
Put another way: how much woukd our movement have gained if Dr. Paul tried to run for congress/President as a Libertarian? He tried it and failed. Do any of you think he'd have been able to compete, even in his district???
Dr. Paul understood, it seems, that the perfect would be the enrmy of the good if he'd refused even that slight concession to reality. And thank god he did or none of us would ever have heard of him.
.
I dont want to create a WH gov acct.
sorry.
but I think Dr. Paul would understand.
Simply by you doing his honors him.

It isn't that I don't support the idea
behind the petition. I just refuse to sign any of those petitions on the White House Gov site.
Of Course we want to give it
Of Course we want to give it to him. But he doesn't need it now and he already has our hearts, our attention is elsewhere. People are motivated with strong emotion. And right now, we are trying to defend our liberty. On top of that if you are judging by the response of traffic, The other petition for Peirs Morgan gained juice through Alex Jones website which is the largest alternative news website in the world which then got linked up with drudgereport.com which is the LARGEST WEBSITE ON THE PLANET. That is what gave the initial petition so much traffic attention.
He always voted against giving out that medal
It's kinda like honoring Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill--borderline offensive.

I smell an idea here..
How is the decision reached about who shows up on the official US coins?
Would they "be forced" to mint silver and gold coins with Ron Paul on them if enough people got together to make a massive quantity order?
Is anyone aware how it could work out?

If he chastised congress for wanting to give
Rosa Parks a medal, because he felt he didn't have the authority to spend peoples money like that, how do you think he'd feel about people advocating that he get one the same way?
He had no Constitutional authority to do that and we should understand that we don't either. Maybe you meant well but there are better ways that don't make us hypocrites.

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution, inevitable.
Try this.
Find a liberty loving company who can make a medal out of precious metal. Perhaps a Constitution on one side and Dr. Paul on the other, a commemorative coin. Sell silver ones to fund making a gold one to give Dr. Paul from us - his supporters. Or jsut set up a chip-in to get him one, but from US.
I know too many Viet Nam Vets who threw their medals in a lake. Do you think he would really cherish a medal from Congress?
