Are You Discrediting and Hurting the Liberty Movement?

What has happened to this site? This is the Daily PAUL. I've been an active member of the site for a little over a year now and contribute articles when doing so actually HELPS the liberty movement grow. As of late, every time I come to this site it's full of posts about the latest conspiracy theory like the "Sandy Hook Hoax" or some moronic legal post by a "Sovereign Citizen" claiming to be the supreme authority on the law. What's next, neo-nazi skinheads singing the praises of Hitler... ooh yeah, they already posted their video about how Hitler was right during world war II last month. Bottom line: These people are making us all look nuts and hurting the liberty movement.

The Daily Paul is probably the highest trafficked liberty website on the internet... whether you want it or not, that comes with the responsibility of helping grow our movement. I'm not one for censorship... but perhaps the front page could be geared more towards liberty politicians, legislation, TV appearances, etc. At least then we would have a concise message. I'm almost embarrassed to admit to other liberty friends that I frequent this site. I'd like to continue visiting the Daily Paul. I have no interest in giving traffic to the "Daily Conspiracy" to read about Bilderberg, Chemtrails, Reptilians, Sovereigns, Sandy Hook etc... that's what Infowars is for. Bear in mind, I'm not speaking to the facts of any certain conspiracy theory... some do end up being true. I'm just stating the obvious that talking about them is not how you sell the movement to the average joe. If you want to sell the liberty movement to people, talk about liberty issues like ending the wars, shrinking government, the NDAA, Patriot Act, Debt, Federal Reserve, etc etc.. what is so hard to grasp about this?

If you ask the average person what's bad about the liberty movement, they'll usually say 2 things... 1. Foreign Policy and 2. Conspiracy Theories. Since our foreign policy is slowly winning people over... conspiracies are our largest weakness that can be exploited by people looking to hurt the movement. Strangely enough, the CIA and FBI actually hire internet trolls to do just that. It wouldn't surprise me if the GOP was doing it too. I mean, all they have to do is come on here and continually post things that make us look crazy to the average joe and all of a sudden "Poof!" the movement is marginalized and ineffective on the internet, the place where it started and is strongest. I wouldn't be surprised if many of the people who come on here and post all this conspiracy garbage actually work for the government and are purposely trying to hurt the movement. How's that for a conspiracy?

According to Lynnae Williams, former CIA clandestine service trainee and DIA analyst, the FBI and CIA use trolls to monitor social media and interact with users to discredit information disseminated on the web. Williams explains that the CIA provides training videos to new recruits on how to troll the internet.

Seriously, how the hell am I supposed to tell a friend or family member who's interested in liberty to come to this site for liberty news when they'll just think I'm insane if they actually read what's posted here? It's disgraceful.

You're either a paid shill

or not very liberty-minded yourself. Those who support liberty do not call for topics they don't "approve" of to be censored. That's what fascists do.

If you really believe your friends/family will be turned off by the "conspiracy talk", then just don't send them here. Simple enough. There are plenty of other liberty sites you can direct them to.

Off the top of my head:
www.mises.org
www.tomwoods.com
www.reason.com
www.LibertarianStandard.com

All are good, educational sites that avoid "conspiracy theories". Why not suggest that your friends give those a look?

People complain all the time

People complain all the time about topics I choose to talk about on this website, particularly when it goes against the mainstream thinking around these parts.

A recent example: I made a case for why Pierce Morgan should not be deported. Interestingly, I was told that for doing so I didn't support liberty and that the topic should be shut down.

Another example is when I defended the EITC as the least worst form of welfare.

I Suppose

you consider 9/11 as an inside job a "hoax" and a "crazy conspiracy theory" too? Or maybe you think that the RNC stealing the nomination is another "crazy conspiracy theory"? YOU are the one with issues. Not us. Stop trying to act SO superior. You are Not!

9/11 Truth.

i used to share much of the same concerns as you..

..so have MANY others. i've learned that when i was experiencing those feelings, it was because i had a hard-wired reaction to certain topics. what they were is irrelevant, but if i heard them come up i'd avert my eyes because somehow (without looking into such topics) i was convinced that i knew the truth and they were crazy, full of shit and somehow subverting the "liberty movement."

and then it started to seep in.. if you're so worried about what other people think and talk about, the problem lays in you. you're a victim of propaganda.

case in point: "If you want to sell the liberty movement to people, talk about liberty issues like ending the wars, shrinking government, the NDAA, Patriot Act, Debt, Federal Reserve, etc etc.. what is so hard to grasp about this?"

you just listed some SERIOUSLY huge conspiracy theories. it doesn't get any bigger than wars or the Federal Reserve. the difference? you happen to like some views and dislike others. now you want people to shut up because they're not talking about the "conspiracy theories" you adhere to?

there's a lot of stuff on here that you may not agree with, but that's life. deal with it. if your world-view and sensibilities are so delicate that you go into a public rant over seeing people post topics you disagree with, don't use the internet.

The DP is a great place to learn and share ideas.
Learn to use it.

Again...

To everyone coming on here saying this "conspiracy" talk is hurting the liberty movement... LOOK AT YOUR DOWN VOTE COUNTS, its not working.

The free market of DP has spoken LOUD and clear that the conspiracy is not a fringe part of this movement.

5 years ago, When I told people about the FED and its grip on the world, most people literally told me to put my tinfoil hat back on. Those who knew, didn't give up asking the hard questions and I FOR ONE am not about to stop because it "offends" people.

IMO when this website stops asking questions about everything... then it has lost its purpose and I will move on. Thank god it seems that asking the tough questions isn't about to end anytime soon.

Tools of war are not always obvious. The worst weapon is an idea planted in the mind of man. Prejudices can kill, suspicion can destroy, and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has an everlasting fallout all of its own.

nothing changed

in the Liberty movement we have the Liberty to chose what we think is important.Sometimes we should remind ourselves that everyone has a specific appetite.

For Liberty

Please HELP ME

What good is it if people are only pacified long enough to go back to sleep? I'm getting accosted by BARFLY trolls on this thread and expect that this comment will likely be voted down:

http://www.dailypaul.com/268762/us-citizens-have-no-constitu...

Now look in the thread in the originals section - some Attorney just cloned my thread and blatently NON-quoted me attempting to discredit me so that you do not learn the TRUTH.

You can OPT-OUT of this insanity at ANY TIME - an insanity that is making the BARFLIES (ATTORNEYS) RICH while ripping apart the fabric of a once great nation...

Loss of Focus

The recent rise of "conspiracy" related posts is explainable. It is downtime between elections. Basically, most of the movers and shakers in the liberty movement are busy conquering local GOP establishments for 2014, 2016, and beyond; not trying to prove conspiracies online.

In the opinion of this poster: we have a chance at conquering the Republican Party. The inroads we have made since 2007 are absolutely astounding. We do not have chance at proving to the general public that Sandy Hook was a conspiracy, or that Bilderberg controls everything. You could have a best case package in legal history, but you wouldn't have the support of the public, and you would be met with deadly resistance at every turn if your theories are accurate.

Those effort are at the county, district and state levels.

We are generally conspiring to look at national issues, especially to point out governments follies or crimes.

Free includes debt-free!

I understand the effort.

In fact, I read all the posts and material here related to conspiracies. I just do not feel it is a worthwhile cause to pursue personally. I also think we, as a movement, are better suited to address issues we can change or affect in the political sphere.

You can debunk the official 9/11 story all year long and watch every conspiracy video (which I have done, incidentally). But if it is your opinion that powerful forces got together to pull off this heinous crime that annihilated 3,000 Americans, you have to recognize the lengths those same people will go to keep it suppressed.

Something may come out one day, 50 years from now, when those involved are gone and the political shock of it will be considerably diminished. In the meantime, I will be battling for my Second Amendment Rights, denouncing our federal addiction to spending, and trying to help install an accountable government of the people that would be incapable of committing the secret crimes we suspect they have committed in the past.

That's the cool part.

Ken can track the Chemtrails or Sharkhearted the 9-11 crimes. Granger can work with the GOP and so on.

Then they can report back here if they please, we all can.

We are not so much a movement but we are in motion.

Full Court Press!

If we can find away to catch the criminal before they are all dead and gone that would be a plus, for example.

Many come here, including me to keep current and to practice new arguments and get rational responses.

Maybe I just don't understand the concerns. There are those that have been hired to smear, discredit or dismiss our conversations. The "hurt the movement" meme is common. There is no movement to hurt.

A movement is static and well-defined, we are in motion, we are free as we can be.

If everyone goes with their strengths the Movement will be irrelevant.

Dr. Paul's patience in Congress produced result he could have never imagined.

Each of us has that same potential.

Clearly, the moderators condone this sort of stuff

I agree, fringey consipiracy theories won't get any new listeners, and more obviously true stories are the best way to get more people interested.

However, looking at the advertisements, i see lots of "37 things you must hoard", for example. I suspect the moderators are a BDU's-stuffed-in-the-top-of-your-boots kind of crowd, and I feel like they might own some "tactical pants". They might even entertain chemtrail and bilderberg group sentiments themselves.

Certainly agree with this headline

And it is concerning that so few are facing the real and present danger, President Obama and his Progressive foot-soldiers. These people are fighting a culture war with us and we aren't even engaged. They are emboldened by the November election and they want blood. For the first time in my life I am genuinely getting scared that these fascists are winning. They want power and they are not stopping.

It seems that we have been fighting Republicans for so long that we may have forgotten who the real enemy is - these progressive fascists in the Democratic Party. The Republican establishment is history. It is time to turn our liberty fire on the Progressives in power.

Individuals moving towards liberty looks like a movement

Individuals moving towards liberty looks like a movement only because we have lost our way.

Conspiracy happens all the time, sometimes it is criminal sometimes legal.

If criminal behavior is uncovered isn't that good?

If innocents are cleared isn't that good?

How many false rumors followed by errors negates that good?

The MSM peddles conspiracy theory all the time. The USS Cole was sunk by who. Says who. Why should I believe them?

Step 1. Take your mouse. Open a new browser window.

Step 2. Search.
Step 3. Watch and read.

Want a new book? "JFK the CIA. Vietnam, and the Plot to Assassinate JFK" by L. Fletcher Prouty.
Want a video? "Watch America: Freedom to Fascism" by Aaron Russo.

Laziness is no excuse for ignorance, especially on this site.
Start seeing. I don't know what else to tell you.

The JFK assassination is unique

It happened in the 1960's when the CIA was going around assassinating leaders all over the world. Between the Bay of Pigs, Vietnam, and JFK sleeping with their wives, it isn't hard to figure out an extremely plausible motive for whacking him. They certainly had the means to do it, and this is a time where the only evidence was the technology of the Zapruder film.

Aaron Russo's film is great, but everyone (except for hopelessly brainwashed liberals) know the IRS is corrupt and criminal. Aaron Russo just lays it out in a way that is impossible to refute.

It is a false equivalence to compare these two to, let's say, "Sandy Hook being a hoax and the CIA brainwashed a patsy to murder a bunch of children (or pretended to murder children and hired a bunch of actors.)"

How inane.

Insults and mindless cheerleading. You sound like a drunk fan heckling the players.

Try saying something intellectual sometime.

That it was done is the point.

Prouty's book was just about FJK's assassination. It was about corruption, conspiracies between governments and corporations, covert military operations, you know, the stuff going on today.
I don't have a problem posting stuff about CIA running cocaine into the country either. Why? Paul turned me on to that little piece of history in an interview he did.
Yes, I think little kids could be killed to further policy. They killed them at Waco. Why should this be any different? Policy then, policy now.

That guy is now attorney general.

Rogue killers or conspiratorial operation.

Why didn't Texas give these murderers a go directly to jail card.

I agree that we darn better have some thing substantial before

making accusarions.
Ron Paul doesn't make wild accusations.

However, one of the problems with this revolution is that the leadership doesn't maximize the entirety of us. .. except for donations.

And we have been particularly headless since the election.

The best thing since the election was the news about iowa. That should remind us that we should be working at the local levels.

Anyway, I definitely will stop my conspiracy posts.

No need to worry....

This has been talked about a lot in the past few weeks. Do not worry about it. People will come here or they won't. The conspiracy theorists do not discredit the movement in a way that will scare true believers of liberty away. The only thing that will scare these people away is the way we treat each other.

The only thing that I think will scare a new comer away is the fact that people on this site are quick to forget their manners and can become very hostile very quick if you do not agree with them.

Then they will tell you to STFU in the name of their free speech and yeah.... that could definitely turn a newcomer off.

you don't have a clue, do you?
