Sen. Rand Paul now leading FreedomWorks presidential poll

President Obama hasn't been sworn in for a second term yet, but that hasn't stopped the speculation about 2016.

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul is leading a conservative website's interactive point-and-click poll for people to name their top choices for the Republican Party's next presidential nomination.

Mr. Rand is leading the field at You Chooose 2016, a website connected with FreedomWorks, the Washington-based nonprofit.

The top five Republicans in the unscientific poll are Mr. Paul, followed by Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, former Texas congressman Ron Paul, former Florida congressman Allen West, and 2012 vice presidential candidate and Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan.

And he's a Capricorn, too

http://www.astrology-online.com/capricrn.htm

The sign Capricorn is one of the most stable and (mostly) serious of the zodiacal types. These independent, rocklike characters have many sterling qualities. They are normally confident, strong willed and calm. These hardworking, unemotional, shrewd, practical, responsible, persevering, and cautious to the extreme persons, are capable of persisting for as long as is necessary to accomplish a goal they have set for themselves. Capricorn are reliable workers in almost any profession they undertake. They are the major finishers of most projects started by the 'pioneering' signs; with firm stick-to-it-ness they quickly become the backbone of any company they work for.

Capricorn make of themselves, resourceful, determined managers; setting high standards for themselves and others. They strive always for honesty in their criticism of self, they respect discipline from above and demand it from those beneath them. In their methodical, tough, stubborn, unyielding way, they persist against personal hardship, putting their families and/or their work before their own needs and welfare to reach their objectives long after others have given up and fallen by the wayside. In fact when practical ability allied with the drive of ambition are required in employees to make a project succeed, Capricorn are the people to hire. They plan carefully to fulfill their ambitions (which often include becoming wealthy), they are economical without meanness, and able to achieve great results with minimum effort and expense. Because of their organizing ability they are able to work on several projects simultaneously.

They have a great respect for authority but may not, if they reach high rank, be willing to listen to other opinions on things they are directly responsible for. As the ranking authority figure in a given situation they expect their underlings to be as self disciplined as they themselves are, and to perform every task undertaken to the highest standard.

They are, nevertheless, fair as well as demanding. Among their equals they are not always the most pleasant of work fellows for they are reserved and too conservative, valuing tradition more than innovation, however valuable the latter, and they are often humorless. There is also a tendency to pessimism, melancholy and even unhappiness which many Capricorn are unable to keep to themselves, especially if they fail personally. In the extreme this trait can make them a very depressed individual; ecstatic happiness alternating with the most wretched kind of misery which is so subconsciously buried that he or she should seek help if such emotions become frequent. For the above reason, capable Capricorn should spend many hours in meditation, gathering the strength to control such inner emotions.

Whatever

First, this is an internet poll, which Ron Paul always utterly dominated, beating all other GOP contenders like 90% to 3% to 3% to 3%, etc.

Even considering REAL polls, Ron Paul won the CPAC poll over and over--until it mattered.

Right now we know that liberty/conservative House members number around 24, and the rest answer to the Obama-Boehner axis. Boehner is struggling to fix that problem.

Rand Paul has zero chance of getting the nomination in 2016. We don't even know whether Obama will have been christened Chancellor-for-Life by then.

Take back the GOP and Restore America Now.

How are

we not believing in Ron Paul 2016?

While Gary Johnson and Rand Paul are leaps and bounds better than anyone else as yet with a real chance, they are NOT Ron Paul.

I love Ron as much as the next guy but...

...it's time to get real, Ron's done. You think this superficial entitled nation is going to vote for an 82 year old libertarian? You know who I think would be just as good as Ron(if not, dare I say, a little "better"(youth and charisma)) is JUDGE NAPOLITANO! Now that's the candidate for me! And would all of those fools at FauxNews stab the Judge in the back in the campaign season? The Judge speaks with AUTHORITY! He's admired by the neocon white hairs and the "Jon Stewart left". I could think of no one better that could demolish in the debates, and could persuade the "base" of the virtues of non interventionism.

Choices for 2016...and beyond

Quite true!

That tells us something about current politics, especially in the GOP, and even the Libertarian Party, doesn't it?

One of our important challenges is to broaden, and to improve our choices, starting with local, county and municipal races, along with GOP--or LP, for those who are so inclined--party officers and spokesmen. By 2016, hopefully, several people will have informed themselves sufficiently and acquired enough political and media experience that they can be, like Ron Paul, BOTH savvy in their communication and outreach, AND rigorously pro-individual rights, private property, and self-responsibility in their politics and economics.

Two, or four years down the road, we should not be in the position of limiting ourselves to any one individual. Competition is always preferable, and let the best (or at least, the better) man win, when it comes to loyalty and support.

JUDGE NAPOLITANO!

Already a national figure? Check. Savvy in communication and outreach? Check. Staunch constitutionalist? Check. Pro-individual/property rights? Check. Non-interventionist? Check. Austrian school? Check.

Remember, the Judge is the only person Ron Paul ever publicly considered as a running mate. You think Ron respects him much? Probably more than his own son!

Ron Paul is not an option

...because he's not going to run again, nor should he. He's passed the torch. Whether you like Rand for 2016 or not, you need to start thinking of who you're going to support other than Ron, unless you want to do a completely futile write-in.

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

Ron Paul never said

he would NOT run, nor that he passed any torch, to my knowledge.

People are simply thinking he might be too old by then, but I disagree. Dr. Ron Paul is not your average man.

For those that saw the difference between the 2008 run and the 2012 run it's night and day. We got about 1,000 times the people and support. Same as the difference between his 1988 and 2008 runs.

Running in 2016 would be a guaranteed win.

Ron's not going to run again.

I think it's time that you realized this dude. He's almost 80 and politics is the last thing on his mind as he'll want to spend as much time with his family as he can. Ron was the messenger of this movement, that's all.

lol

Pay attention much?

He may or may not run for president again, but he'll definately give you and everyone else a run for their pm's. He ain't the quittin' type :-)

"What if the American people learn the truth" - Ron Paul

Are you paying attention?

Lol, dude Ron's not going to run again end of story. He'll do what he said he'll do, which is to spread the message of liberty to the college campuses. Sadly too many people here believe winning the presidency is the key to bringing back our freedoms. It's not and I tend agree with what another poster here said. We need to forget DC and work on our local and state governments by implementing nullification and other means to secure our liberty at the local level instead of depending on getting one guy into the White House.

We need

to do MANY different things. We need to work to win at ALL levels. That's the key.

Yes.

Correct, I see that you understand :-)

"What if the American people learn the truth" - Ron Paul

Polling for President--Rand Paul and others...

Hopefully, well before 2016, we will have better choices than Rand Paul or the truly dreadful alternatives offered above.

Despite the unrelenting presssure Rand Paul is being subjected to in the Senate, maybe he will have done his father proud in the next four years, and be a worthy Presidential candidate (in both domestic and foreign policy) that we can rally around and give our full support to.

On the other hand, cultivating more--and better--libertarians in and outside of Kentucky, can only help us in the long run, can't it?

I would bet money...

...that you will not find a better candidate than Rand running in the 2016 Republican primary. I would further bet that you aren't familiar with Rand's record in the Senate.

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

Give up on DC!

Some of the Ron Paul people have learned this but still others have not.

I've followed Paul since 2007, and have seen, like many others, the media chicanery directed against his candidacy.

There are trillions of dollars at stake. There is an empire abroad to maintain. There is a police state emerging. There is a contingent in America that is jingoist, their patriotism is of the "blood and soil" variety. Entitlements, taxes, debt, the fed, perpetual wars, deception, usurpations and the lust for power: We are under a real Sociopathocracy.

And there is a desire to fix all of this by electing a Jesus figure to political office in the nation's capitol.

Give up on the imperial capitol! The solutions to these problems are nullification, interposition and secession. Not Rand Paul 2016!

Maybe the Neocon strategy

of tricking Ron Paul supporters into supporting his Neocon stooge son is working.
Some people aren't very discerning......

Ooops!

I seem to have offended 6 Neocons.....

I don't think...

...that people downvoted you because they are neocons. I think they just downvoted you because they thought it was distasteful on how you made your remark about Ron Paul's flesh and blood. Disliking Rand is one thing, but having a little respect for Ron and all he's done for us all is another. JMHO.=)...Maybe AllPaul should say AllRonPaul..people may think you love Rand too!(I'm just being silly).=)

The Neocons are using

Rands "flesh and blood" relationship to try to slide their crappy ideology onto the liberty movement and split off and divide supporters. That relationship does not make him untouchable. His actions were what was in poor taste.

How you just explained...

...yourself in this comment makes a lot more sense and is more accepting the way you said it. My opinion really means nothing but was just telling you why I thought people downvoted you the 1st time. Thanks for responding!=)

Opinions are opinions

you read them, see if they make sense and go from there. But I've heard/read the Neocon (and make no mistake, Rand is being managed by the Neocons...in some way or another) meme that "disrespecting" Rand for his actions is the same thing as disrespecting Dr Paul. It is not. Thery are trying to use the relationship to both silence criticism of Rands actions and to confuse/intimidate people into supporting Rand because he is Dr Pauls son. Whatever Rand does now, when itt counted he failed HUGELY. I really don't care what little "victories" he is allowed to rack up to try to reform his image as a "libertarian" and try to sucker the liberty movement again as controlled opposition. He's done. He failed the big test.

Interesting.

I do know that the neocons I see and talk to daily don't care for Ron Paul's foreign policy, but they seem to like Rand a lot. And I do remember an interview with Rand a couple of years ago where he stated he agrees with everything his father does except his stance on pulling out all the troops from Iraq. So he seems to disagree with anti-war stance. I like a lot of what he does, but I cannot remember him speaking against all the wars(which is a huge part of Ron's base). Sometimes it seems like Rand is doing things the Reagan way, compromise to get the other things he wants...which isn't Ron's style at all. I don't think he is evil or has evil intentions, maybe just trying an approach that many people would never expect from someone who has had a father that has such a uncompromised record...to say the least! But yeah, when you spend too much time with one set of people, you can start to have some of their thinking. However, I don't think Ron will ever speak ill of his son for that reason, it's his son. Thanks!

LOL

I have offended eleven 'Cult of Rand' Acolytes.

Gonna have to try harder to catch up with me.:)

Hey!

I'm up to 9!

Keep trying

I picked up a 12th

You put a smile on my face

but I don't care for the comment voting system.

Rand is a neocon warmonger who doesn't stick to his principles when voting. These are easy facts to confirm, and ignoring them doesn't do Rand any favors.

Ron Paul 2016! There are some other good choices, but sadly they don't seem to be on the survey.
