Liberte Linux--Encrypted Communication

http://dee.su/liberte

Liberté Linux is a secure, reliable, lightweight and easy to use Gentoo-based LiveUSB/SD/CD Linux distribution with the primary purpose of enabling anyone to communicate safely and covertly in hostile environments. Whether you are a privacy advocate, a dissident, or a sleeper agent, you are equally likely to find Liberté Linux useful as a mission-critical communication aid.

Liberte's motivation:

Liberté Linux is not a generic live Linux distribution with anonymity features. Its primary focus is to let you communicate, stealthily and securely, with other people in a hostile environment. Here, hostile environment is one where someone resourceful seeks to find out your identity because of something you do. You might be a dissident in an oppressive Islamic regime, perhaps, or an anti-government cell coordinator in China. A highly-ranked mole in the US intelligence service, passing information to his handler in the Belarusian embassy. Or, a whistle-blower in an international petroleum corporation. All these possibilities have something in common: high technological capacity of the authority in place, and willingness to use this capacity to find out who you are in order to stop you. Of course, you might just consider using Liberté because you dislike the idea of a bureaucrat somewhere deciding whether something you do online is legitimate or not. You are welcome.

I'm already jumping through about 20 hoops to get here.. Yes, I believe my government had a hand in 9/11 and numerous other atrocities perpetuated against this nations people.....sooooo, If I believe those things, the next logical conclusion is, that they'd fuck me up too. I decided some time ago, not to take the chance..

Anyway, this fits on a usb, uses encryption and is live straight from the usb key.. You can boot into it on almost any computer directly from the key, encrypt all of your data, which never leaves the realm of that usb.

Your computer doesn't even need a hard drive to run it.

This would be useful for many Liberty minded endeavors, in my opinion. Check it out!

Thanks for posting

I'll have my husband look into it. My general feeling is "spy away, you thugs. If you are THAT afraid of a granny, you're nothing but a coward anyway, so sit there and tremble in your jackboots at the stuff I post RIGHT ON THE INTERNET WHERE YOU DON'T NEED TO SPY TO FIND IT."
Friggin' morons stealing my tax money and using it to spy on me because I stand up and scream as loud as I can about their crimes.

Love or fear? Chose again with every breath.

Thanks will check it out.

I have reason to believe my computer has been compromised for the following reason:

I received an email from my sister to which I could not reply. It was about an article relating to jobs. It was totally off the wall as the email was about jobs, and my sister knows I am retired and not looking for a job. I composed an email and sent to my sister, and she had no ideal what email I was referring to.

It finally took a phone call to straighten out the confusion. But, I had already opened the email, and clicked on the link.

It amuses me to think, "they" may be wasting their time and money to spy on me, when I would readily confess to all I am guilty of. I am, also, "to old to run", and cannot figure out how this would be to my advantage.

I get stuff like that from time to time

There's a hack scam that has been around for a long time where they compromise someone's email and then spam the host victim's email list hoping that their friends will open their link.. which of course can compromise their computers and they can in turn perpetuate it.

If you don't have it, download Malwarebytes.. It's free and it's pretty good.

I would do a virus scan as well if you can.. change your password to all of your accounts and even think about reformatting your drive if none of that works.

If you need help.. catch me on one of these posts and I'll start a thread for you to walk you through it, I'll be glad to help with what I can.. PM and email would be better I suppose but I don't do either for security reasons.

Not saying you haven't or it's not possible because it is but I just like to weed out everything else before I come to that as the final answer.

Thank you

for the offer, but my son is computer smart and can clean it up for me.

What I am wondering is if you think this this program you are referring to could be useful, for some reason, to someone like me, who doesn't give a hoot, if they are spying on me.

Well if it's government spying

or hackers trying to use my information for malicious things, I do care. I don't want either doing it.

If you don't care about it, of course that's up to you. I however, want to last long enough to cause some repeated trouble, if need be in the future. Staying free is important to me to that end as well as in general. :)
