What is God? Where is God?

Many people "believe in" God. Very few people have a definite idea of what God is. I've always believed in a creative and super intelligent force that I call God, and admit that I'm not sure what that force is, where it came from and how it works. I think cutting edge quantum physics and quantum mechanics might be shedding some light on this issue, however.

Here are some questions to ponder: Does God have a physical body and if not, what is God made of; is he really really big or small?

Where does God reside -- inside or outside the universe, and if inside the universe, where is he in relationship to us?

Could God be pure conscious energy;

Did God create the universe;

Does anything exist outside the universe, and if so, what might that be;

Does anything exist that God didn't create, and if so, who created that?

Is God infinite spacially, and if so, doesn't that mean that everything is God?

If God isn't infinite spacially, what is outside of God and who created that?

I'm sure there are many more questions related to this issue that I haven't thought of. If anyone has any special insight to share on this, I'd love to hear it.

God is what you want it to be

It certainly isn't what any organized religion shoved down your throat, that much I know.

That's like saying, f-buzz is who I want him to be.

Some have argued that God is the freest being, free to be or not to be.

One can tell a story of god, that does make the god of my story real.

It makes a god that is my slave. Like I want you to be my slave, at least in my example.

However, I would rather leave you free to be who you choose to be.

I'll answer your question from my limited understanding

Does God have a physical body and if not, what is God made of; is he really really big or small?
God IS, and all manifestations are God.

Where does God reside -- inside or outside the universe, and if inside the universe, where is he in relationship to us?
Everywhere. God is what you breath in and exhale. God is the very food you eat and the sustanance you receive from that food. Every blink is a prayer acknowledging His greatness. There is nothing outside of God.

Could God be pure conscious energy?
God is Truth, Consciousness, Bliss.

Did God create the universe?
God always IS and all manifestions are a reflection of His creative power.

Does anything exist outside the universe, and if so, what might that be?
This question baffles me. What are you really asking?

Does anything exist that God didn't create....?
No.

Is God infinite spacially, and if so, doesn't that mean that everything is God?
You already asked this, just in a different way. Why do you keep repeating this question?

If God isn't infinite spacially, what is outside of God and who created that?
This question sounds as if you imagine a limited God. If it's limited, it's not God.

IMHO, you waste your time with these trivial questions. If you really want to know God, befriend Him. Talk to Him incessently. Ask to know Him. And if He ever does decide to let Himself be known to you, accept whatever form He chooses to reveal Himself to you as, because He knows what you can and cannot understand. My friend would always say, “Be still and know that I am God.” Truer words have never been spoken.
Only you can experience God – other's experiences are just fairy tales. But OH! Are there some good stories! ;-)

In Deuteronomy(10:17 KJV) he is the God of gods, Lord of lords.

He is the one with the power, the authority.

To answer your question

we need to lay down a few facts.

First of all, we humans are very limited in our knowledge and ability. It is impossible for us to know God through our own means. Just like it is impossible for an ant to know man through its own means.

Second of all, we all have sinned and we are sinners and we are separated from God. So that means, we cannot come to know God on our own. Because the sin separated us from God. So we need help.

God, knowing these two facts above, set out a way for us to know Him. He revealed who He is in the Bible. And He sent His son Jesus to died for us to take away the sin, so we can come to know Him.

So through Christ, God revealed Himself to us, therefore we can know Him. Through the Words of God that He reveals to us, we can know Him. This is the only way to know God. When you've come to God through Christ, you can begin to know Him. Sort of like a new born baby started to grow and started to learn about his surroundings. In the beginning he knows only very little about his mother and father, but as he grow he will get to know his parents more and more. So it is like that us with and God, too.

In the end, I don't need to know about God, I need to know God. And that is what really matters. A little baby don't know what his father or mother does, but he does know one thing, that they feed him, clean him, keep him warm, keep him safe and that they love him. As to what other things about his parents, he won't understand right now and it doesn't really matter right now. Same with us and God. Knowing Him is life eternal, not knowing about Him.

Speaking personally, I grew up in a Christian home, so I had always known about God, but even my knowledge about God was skewed through men's interpretations. However, God wouldn't let me go. So there was this desire in my heart to seek something more. The knowledge of the Bible and of God didn't do me any good. I was a wreck. Then through miraculous ways, God brought me to a church where I can enter into the presence of God. The reality of His presence and His life changed everything. And I was like a new baby being born, and started to learn and experience God in my life. So I know, that knowing God is not a mental exercise. It is far beyond that. And it is something you have to experience for yourself to know. God is open and waiting, anyone who's willing can come to the Father through Christ.

I don't agree with this bit

"Second of all, we all have sinned and we are sinners and we are separated from God. So that means, we cannot come to know God on our own. Because the sin separated us from God. So we need help."

Who are we to judge what constitutes a sinner? Ignorance isn't a sin, unless 'Original Sin' is ignorance but I reject that concept. We can come to know God on our own - He resides within every one of us.

I won't get into it, but I have dreamed with Jesus yet even that revelation did not advance the relationship I now have with God. That was built between me and God. Not everyone needs an intercessor.

This I totally agree with:
"In the end, I don't need to know about God, I need to know God."
Yes!

My simple answers

Yes, God has a physical body. He looks just like a regular human being, only glorious. He's no larger or smaller than us. We human beings literally are created in His image.

Whether God is inside or outside the universe, He hasn't told us. He hasn't told us a lot of things, such as many of the questions you have. When we individually prove that we wish to be with Him by following His commandments and striving to be like Him, and we prove we can handle and have incorporated into ourselves the truths He has already given us, He'll reveal more to us. For example, I believe that all matter is eternal, just as God is, just it had no organization until God molded it. How He did it, I don't know.

God did not create our personalities. Each person's spirit is just as eternal as God is. We cannot blame God for our own shortcomings and weaknesses.

Those are very deep questions, few of which God has given us answers to because we are not ready for them. But we do know He has a physical, immortal, perfect human body, He is our Father, He wishes us to come back to Him, and he created all things for our benefit and learning.

"Moderation in temper is always a virtue; but moderation in principle is always a vice." -- Thomas Paine

Here is the Truth. God is

Here is the Truth. God is within ALL of us, invited or not. We were created in his image, which is our immortal "soul" if you want. When we "die", that is what goes. If you learn how to look inside, you can see, hear, and feel this, and there are no more "belief" questions. The fact is, you KNOW. Humans are a mix of mortal and immortal. We are amazing. If you want to know GOD (generator, operator, destroyer) then keep looking until you find someone who can show this part of us to you. He/She/It is under your own pillow and closer than anything.

Godseekers have long known this truth.

Seek God inwardly. If God were in the heavens then bird would beat us there.

In the Hebrew words,

In the Hebrew words, "elohiym", translated "God" in the old testament. The word Elohiym is defined as meaning:

"rulers, judges"

So there are many rulers and judges. Which one in particular do you mean? Or do you just simply mean, What is A god?

that actually makes more sense to me

Just substitute god with lord (the human kind) and it makes more sense...excluding the hocus pocus parts

Are you saying

you don't believe in God? "A god" is meaningless to me. I think the universe, everything in it and that which animates it comes from one source and I think that source is consciousness. For now, I believe this because quantum physics appears to prove it. Atoms are 99.9% space and the rest is apparently conscious energy. Everything is made up of atoms, hence, everything is interconnected conscious energy. It sounds weird and it's definitely hard to wrap your mind around, yet science seems to bear this out.

So you do not believe that

So you do not believe that Kings, governments, of the world have power over other men?

Sure

But I think this is off topic.

Is it not said that God is a

Is it not said that God is a King? Is King not a position, Head of the Government? It is in FACT what the word "god" means; King, ruler, judge. Does God not make Laws just as Rulers, again government, do? Why do you think this book is something other than a book about government? Being GOVERNED by an unseen, Ruler, God, King,...instead of Men? Why is this so difficult to understand? More importantly, why have MEN turned this book about government by an unseen King (self government) into a book about something other than.

Did someone have something to gain by turning this book into a book about Deities and superstition? Could MEN have gained power for themselves by turning people away from a book about having an unseen King (self government) instead of MEN (government by tyrants) for their "gods"?

It is interesting

That in the west (except England), we detest monarchy...yet many cling to the idea of spiritual monarchy (God as King, Jesus as prince, angels or church leaders as some weird nobility) and strange ideas of reward/punishment for obedience/disobedience to God's laws (heaven, hell or some other form of eternal condemnation). The bible lays out these laws and also makes it clear that we can never obey all the laws because we are all born sinners...hence the idea that God demands that we believe Jesus died for our sins and only through acceptance of Jesus as savior can we be "saved" which seems to make the laws irrelevant. It certainly smacks of simplistic man-made ideas designed to scare people into joining a church.

Altar of Stone

"An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee. And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it. Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon."

Some things that must be understood about this writing. It was written in Hebrew, today we read an English translation. Let's look at a few of the Hebrew words and meanings to understand what this alter represents.

"Altar of Earth" The Hebrew word here for "earth" is "adamah". Its root word is "adam" which is defined "dyed red", and if we look in the creation of Adam, we find that Adam was created from Adamah. The Altar of "Earth" is a metaphor for an Altar of Men. The stones to build this Altar are Men. Clothing, or being naked is long had a metaphorical meaning of Authority. Judges are clothed with robes, a King with no clothes is one without authority...someone who is naked has no authority.

Our sacrifice (charity for the needy) is to be burnt, which is something given without no expectation of getting it back. " I went to the casino and burned through $500", obviously if I tell someone this, they understand that I didn't literally burn it. It was $500 that I sacrificed, and being burnt, I'll never get it back. I do not expect a return, unlike the Socialist systems where I put in and expect also to get back, just as it was in Egypt where the people put in 20% and in times of famine they expected a return.

Steps are obviously a hierarchal system where some have power over others, those at the bottom having no power, those at the top having all the power.

The Altar where we give our sacrifice is to be made of Men. We should never expect a return for this offering we present to those who are needy. We should give our sacrifice to these Men who are on LEVEL GROUND with us, NOT to a Tyrant who is above us. For if we give our sacrifice to Men who exercise authority at the top of the Altar, we shall be seen as having NO AUTHORITY within this society.

This is a story of how Moses' government was to be formed.
