Rand Paul's 19yr old son arrested for intoxication

http://news.yahoo.com/rand-pauls-son-arrested-003334784.html

Not really relevant, but certainly doesn't help Rand.

If I was arrested every time

If I was arrested every time I went to a party and consumed copious amounts of beer when I was 19 years old, I'd probably still be in prison.

Rand Paul can turn his son's lemon into lemonade...

"If you can serve your country and die for it at the age of 18, an American citizen of that age should be allowed to legally consume alcoholic beverages as well."

Prohibition to those between the ages of 18-20 is stupid, and dangerous. Binge drinking by college students is very common, why?

Because it's illegal to drink if you're not 21.

How many college students are not going to drink until their senior year of college?

That is like asking how many college students are not going to have sex until they are married.

The law needs to be changed.

Never be afraid to ask simple questions.

A number of critical details

A number of critical details are missing regarding this case. The libertarian litmus test for young William would be: Did he deprive anyone of life, liberty or property as a result of his intoxication? Did he use force to obtain the alcohol? A victimless crime is one perpetrated against no other consenting adult. Where there is no harm, there is no crime, it is merely a political crime against the State.

Where in the Constitution

does Congress take the authority to set the drinking age at 21? Where in the Constitution does Congress take the authority to set a drinking age at all?

Where in the constitution does it say we must follow it's rules?

Where in the constitution does it say we should support Ron Paul?

What a ridiculous comment.

The Constitution wasn't written and doesn't get amended to tell USwhat we can do, its purpose is to tell he federal government what it is allowed to do.

They don't, the States do...

...though, as I understand it, they're compelled to make it 21 under penalty of being denied DoT funding.

The Drinking Age Is Draconian Like The Drug War

The government has no more a right to prohibit an adult of 18-20 from drinking than it has prohibiting any other adult from drinking.

And drinking among minors should be the domain of parents, not of government.

So the consumer

gets arrested while the provider is at large...
Is this the first case of underage drinking in the US?! Or is it just the start of a smear campaign?

When Fascism goes to sleep, it checks under the bed for Ron Paul!

If it is posted on Yahoo then

If it is posted on Yahoo then you can bet everything is from a credible source.

Southern Agrarian

Are you serious?!

It's an ABC MSM load of BS!!!

When Fascism goes to sleep, it checks under the bed for Ron Paul!

I Believe

That was sarcasm.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

I believe

I wasn't asking you...

When Fascism goes to sleep, it checks under the bed for Ron Paul!

BS

Obviously not credible. Rand should take it to court imo.

donvino

I am amazed how many are buying the Cop's story.

Why do Cops get the benefit of the doubt, but Will gets accused and a finger wagging.

Shakes head.

Free includes debt-free!

This does help Rand.

People I know in their 40's and 50's remember what it was like when the drinking age was 18 and 19 and cops wouldn't waste their time busting up drinking parties as long as everyone was cool and not out racing their cars.

Now they are seeing their kids being dragged into the court system and given permanent black marks for something that should be a family issue and dealt with privately.

They are really disgusted with the way this aspect of young adulthood and the larger society is playing out.

Rand Paul gains points since he isn't some high and mighty better than thou, he has a real kid who (may or may not) enjoy a nip of alcohol once in a while, who is now being railroaded by a system that subsists on low-hanging fruit.

I think you're right about that

...I was pleasantly surprised by the comments.

Sen. Baucus accused of delivering speech drunk, ...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PimjNMnlSwk. Well, if a senator can do it, why not a senator's son? One has an excuse--he's 19, for pete's sake! One of the mistakes of youth. The senator, well, there is no excuse!!

I don't believe

I don't believe anything in the mainstream media (sports scores excluded) or from the police.

And the smear campaign begins

A drunk 19 year old. OMG! No way! He was "disruptive". OMG. Rand Paul must be a terrible father and a hooligan because, you know, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Talk about a non-story.

They made it sound like he went on a drunken rampage and name dropped his grandfather.

The sad thing is the semi-lucid dumbfucks that comprise 90% of the population will now regard Rand (not his son) a drunken hooligan because of this.

Gossip, gossip, gossip

Let he who is free of fault cast the first stone~

Yet a year ago...

...if there was a draft he could have been drafted into a war. This doesn't and never did make any sense! Gov. and MSM are just trying to put trash into the Paul name. Funny, the only real flaw they can find with Ron Paul is to say his grandson drank and is only 19! Big fricken deal. He wasn't driving or hurting anyone. What lowlife dorks would do.

And who knows...being with his knowledgeable family backround on liberty, maybe he was giving TSA a hard time with their naked body scanners & groping!

He got drunk on the plane and

He got drunk on the plane and was arrested upon arrival. The TSA normally search during departures.

Shouldn't the blame go to...

...the person who served someone under age? Regardless, it's a really stupid thing for the MSM to make such a big deal of. Geez!

TSA hassled Carol and Ron in Tamp.

They ordered "be quiet citizen while we trample your rights."

They took the oath let their own words hang them for treason.

Breathalyzer Congress

If getting a buzz on is illegal, then we should Breathalyzer everyone in Congress. I've seen that speaker of the house he's always messed up. Personally I think he has a right to do it to himself. But no one has a right to tell an individual what he can or cannot do to himself. If laws are unconstitutional... they're not laws

So What

It's an individual right to drink and do whatever the individual wants as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else.
I can't beleave the comments on this, as it's a free country or a nanny state?

"We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them."
Albert Einstein

Well that's unfortunate...

...but considering it's an extremely minor, victimless (non)crime, it shouldn't have too much of a political impact.

And on a lighter note, I found this excellent joke in the comments section:

A drunk was in front of a judge.
The judge says, "You've been brought here for drinking."
The drunk says "Okay, let's get started."

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

Ugh..poor Will

I was 19 once but for crying out loud I wasn't the son of Ron Paul's son.

Boys will be boys...

At least he wasn't driving.

If he was drinking on the plane, he probably found out you can get drunk easy at high altitudes.

I totally forgot about altitudes

and alcohol. It does without a doubt increase the effects.
