Why the hell did Ron Paul endorse Ted Cruz?

I just watched his interview on Fox: http://www.hulu.com/watch/442119

He is a Israel lover war monger. How on Earth did Ron Paul endorse this fool??

I think that...

the thought was that Cruz would be part of the Rand Paul, DeMint, Lee, Toomey, Johnson, etc. group of 8-10 Senators who would be head and shoulders above others. Mike Lee says alot of nauseating neocon things, but its safe to say that he doesnt represent the problem in DC.

And then there was Cruz's opponent, Dewhurst- a neocon establishment operative if there ever was one. But your point is well taken- the C4L endorsement has meant little once these men/women get into office

I thought Rand had asked him myself the way Rand greated Ron

at the rally Rand had been going to be at with Cruz long before Ron endorsed and decided to go. At that point it was clearly a race between Cruz and someone with even fewer redeeming points, so I suspect Ron was more amenable than he was earlier in the race. but I didn't consider it a conviction endorsement, it was pretty late in the game.

Ted Cruz is a Tea Party guy much the same as Rand Paul. He is not part of the Liberty Movement. I heard Ron Paul speak about Cruz at a Tea Party rally in Austin Texas before the election. He called Cruz a Senator that Rand could work with. Addison would have been much better.

Because he was right of Kay

Because he was right of Kay Bailey Hutchison... not great, but still right of her. Small improvement.

You can search my previous comments from before the election and see I was urging people the entire time to NOT vote Cruz. I told them to vote for Glenn Addison who had pretty much mirrored Ron Paul's entire platform.

Cruz's wife works for Goldman Sachs as well.

"Thou Shalt Not Diss Ron Paul"

yes talk about gay marriage and abortion instead

with gary johnson

because we're working our way there

some don't prefer sitting around engaged in internet activism and take the first step not until everything is perfect. you should join the LP for that rather than remain here

i rarely listen to alex jones but his passion today moved me. contrast that you have armchairs chatting away like little scared women of any imperfection in the movement sitting in some obscure corner of the internet making trivial complaints

as long as we get other things from cruz and he remains loyal on those front it will be fine, be it civil liberties or spending

Hes an agent for Ron to infiltrate those neocon bastards. Otherwise if he isn't may he burn in hell.

No way he is an "agent." An

No way he is an "agent." An agent for the NWO maybe.. but not for liberty...

Hagel said he is not a Senator of Israel, but a Senator for the United States. Cruz crucified him for saying what should have been said..

I think Cruz promised to

I think Cruz promised to fight for civil liberties, to repeal the Patriot Act and NDAA.

So do I.

And to audit the Fed. I think there were specific points where he was better than Dewhurst and none where he was actively worse.

But not one of Ron's better endorsements.

Mind you, it isn't as if Ron Paul can endorse people of his calibre only -- none are yet proven to exist in Congress.

It was also another chance to

It was also another chance to stick it to the establishment!

If I remember correctly,

His opponent was much worse...

This also. Dewhurst would

This also.
Dewhurst would have been another Perry crony of big government republicanism. Google Dewhurst and the TSA pat down bill. Dewhurst is also reportedly good friends with Joe Strauss.

That's like endorsing Romney

That's like endorsing Romney over Obama....

One of the main issues paul has fought for is the overseas police state, and Cruz embodies the very thing paul opposes...

There was no endorsement

Quailcreekgirl writes:

"i don't belive it. The only emails he signs are posted in his campaign2012 site and any endorsements he gives or receives are posted there however no mention of this. I've done some digging and I found no videos to HEARING him publicly announce his endorsement nor quoted verbatim either...
I'm not going to believe it until I see from sources I KNOW are coming directly from Ron "

More discussion of the alleged endorsement here:

I was wondering the same thing.

I don't know.

This guy sounds like every

This guy sounds like every other war mongering neocon out there.... What gives?
