A bill was introduced into congress that would require American farmers to register seeds with the goverment (H.R. 193)
H.R.193 - To require persons who seek to retain seed harvested from the planting of patented seeds to register with the Secretary of Agriculture and pay fees set by the Secretary for retaining such seed, and for other purposes.

Action:
Referred to the Committee on Agriculture, and in addition to the Committee on Ways and Means, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.

Sounds like Monsanto at work again trying to claim they own....
...all seed by way of patents on GMO pollutants carried by wind, rain, flood into your field.
They want to say that you need a license (from Monsanto) to use their pollutants or thus you can be sued for say $300,000 or more per family farm for using their GMO's without permission.
By registering your seed (which has no doubt been tainted by Monsanto GMO pollution, whole seeds and/or pollen carried downstream/downwind to your property) Monsanto intends to use your own seed to testify against you.
Instead of viewing it as pollution created by an escaped Monsanto biohazard they will charge in court that you are using (by your own admission, registering your seed) their technology for profit without a license ( you are operating using their patented pollution).
Buying seeds from the co-op will not help your cause, they are polluted too. You registering the seed only proves it once Monsanto biohazard is found to taint your sample.
Monsanto intends to use this legislation to file suit and/or acquire every family farm in America under false pretenses.

The purpose of this legistlation will most likely be
to ensure that only Monsanto seeds are eventually approved or allowed to be planted. I am sure the lobbyists have been hard at work to get this law enacted and make it impossible to grow anything but their GMO crap.
