Best VIDEO on crime stats that I've seen to date

So far I've stayed out of the gun debate and in stead spent a decent amount of time lurking through the FBI's posted crime stats. Honestly, I've seen a lot of false information presented by both sides of the argument. I expect that from the media and politicians, I guess I just wish that my fellow 2nd Amendment lovers wouldn't stoop to spinning the data as well.

This is the first video that I've seen that I felt was worth sharing on the topic.

This guy should be on Morgan's show

Half a million views YouTube views; it should be up to one million in a day or so as long as we all keep sharing it. I just shared it on the DP FB page ( www.facebook.com/dailypaul ) and Twiter ( www.twitter.com/dailypaul )

Ben Swann would be my choice..

If I had one.

Nice video.

Only wish he would have got more specific on gun crimes, and pointed those out especially when he said the rifle stat.Someone should make a video of that and point it out along with his other excellent stats.IMO.

neah, this drives a NAIL

through the heart of the BS argument that the statists and gun grabbers have. This is all that you need to win the argument. Brevity is important, and sometimes less is more, and in this case with all the emotions and BS swirling around this topic this video is the best medicine to fight against the loud mouths!

Is it true

that 75% of our violent crimes or murders are gang related? Also about the choice of weapon. If they don't have a gun they will use a hammer or whatever is available. I have heard both of these several times but don't know where the facts are coming from.

I shared this on facebook

Enjoyed the video

I especially like the observation that the UK has multiple times more large urban localities than we do. Thanks for sharing.

Great video-----except---

Don`t tell the politicians to go into the neighborhoods and solve the poverty and educational problems , they already failed at that.
Tell the politicians to mind their own business and adhere to the law of the land.

It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people that pay no price for being wrong.
Thomas Sowell

I agree.

It's the one weak spot in his reasoning. That being said, my guess is that the purpose of the video was less about presenting solutions and more about encouraging people to research the facts for themselves and draw their own conclusions.

I Second that.

I have mixed feelings about this video.

VERY objective & useful statistics, presented calmly

& persuasively. . .

* Over the last 20 years in USA: the number of "violent crimes" dropped by 50% (FBI.gov statistics)
* Violent crime rates are double the national average in Metropolitan areas (with more than 250,000 population)
* In UK (England+Wales) there were 1361 per 100,000 violent crimes in 2011, which is 3.5 times MORE than in USA (HomeOffice statistics). . . even though USA has six times more (high crime) metropolitan areas than in UK.

and much more. Great find, Seth: thank you!

You are very welcome!

I thought the video was very well done, informative, and left plenty of room for the viewers to continue to research and formulate their own opinions.

I like this guy - thanks for sharing.

This was the first video I've seen. I'm watching this one now: War of the Words:

he's right

folks get paid a lot of money to "rebrand" things with just a word change. That was very good.

Your very welcome Mr. Nystrom!

And thank you for pegging the post on the front page!

well done

great video

You are welcome!

We need to stop letting the "gun control" crowd dictate the scope of the argument. When we start bringing up safety stats, and trying to prove that more guns make us safer, we lose, not because the position is incorrect, but because we have allowed the argument to center around our safety and not our freedom.

Awesome point

Freedom is at least on par with safety, and I believe is essential for true safety.

"Moderation in temper is always a virtue; but moderation in principle is always a vice." -- Thomas Paine

Personal liberty trumps government offered safety IMHO.

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

-- Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759.
