Wrist band idea: "CDH" for cold dead hand

in gun metal color, of course

It only takes a couple of seconds to drop a clip and re-chamber

The size of clips is very distracting. I have always agreed with this point.

I am proud of that woman for saving her kids and self.

My guess is they are in the market now for a Glock or such.

Maybe if you're a veterin or

Maybe if you're a veterin or someone who trains often. For your average gun owner, a dry magazine means death. Anyway, a revolver without speed loads takes a long time to reload, and your average person misses a lot.

Hand guns are not adequite for home defense in the case of armed or multiple intruders.

henry9's picture

Agreed.

A semi-auto 12 gauge next to the bed stand is where I'm at.

You my have missed my point. I advocate for larger magazines. Shooters in gun free zones have all the time in the world to flip clips even if they are only 10 round ones.

Very true. You may as well

Very true. You may as well try to ban large sized soda pops. Can you imagine what kind of collectivist dipshit government would try to ban large sized soda pops as though it would stop people from buying 2 smalls? I imagine a gov that dumb would try to ban high capacity magazines.

There is something here that

There is something here that needs to be spread far and wide.

She shot him in the face and neck 6 times(im reasonably sure her revolver actually only held 5 rounds, but meh). He did not die. He got up, got into his car, and drove away.

Think about this. How many of you have a .38, and expected that if you shot someone in the head with it, their head would explode and they'd go flying like a rag doll? The stopping power of a handgun is GROSSLY over-stated in movies and pop culture. Yes, they will often fataly wound the target, but they "rarley" stop them. A fataly shot person can continue fighting for several minutes.

Liberals who know nothing of guns believe a handgun is adequate for home defense and you don't need a high powered rifle. Like in most areas, they are dead wrong.

Imagine if this home invasion had been 2 or 3 people, and/or the criminals had had guns. Even after emptying her revolver into this man, he could have potentially shot back and killed her, or worse, one of her children. If he had friends intent on shooting back, what was she going to do with her gun out of bullets, a wounded but NOT incapacitated man and incoming fire?

Give this same woman a defense rifle with a high capacity magazine, and she could have stopped this fool with one or two shots max, and had plenty to spare taking out his buddies. No dry magazines. No enemy survivors.

I told my students this

YEsterday I shared this story (from yahoo at the time) with some of my students. They were like, "That is what guns are supposed to be used for."

This story saddens me...

This story makes me very sad,
Sad, the lady did not kill the P.O.S.
Sad, he gets to live another day.
But, just maybe...his stupid ash will think twice before trying this again...also, he will have some scars for "life" to remind him of his crime.
I hope she got one shot to the crotch,
Now that would be poetic justice.

Vengeance

Without in any way saying she didn't have a right to shoot him because she was in fear for her life, what do you think he was there for?

He was a cowardly burglar who did his very best to make sure that no one was home (they choose burglary because they don't want a confrontation). I saw another report that said, after knocking and ringing the bell, he then went out to his car to get a crowbar, broke in, and as reported here, went through the house looking for loot to steal. By the way, this happened at noon. It was obviously not meant to be a robbery, but a burglary.

He wasn't expecting to find her in the closet, let alone in the closet with a telephone and a revolver, with the cops on the way. He was in no hurry since she pretended no one was home. It took him a long time to even go up to the second floor...

The whole thing could have been avoided by answering his knock. No need to open the door, just knock back or say, "We're not interested."

He'd have gone to another house, looking for someone not home.

Ron Paul would suggest that we consider his motives in order to protect ourselves (just as he does with suicide terrorists). I have heard of many instances where children, home alone, pretended not to be home, only to have a burglar break in, thus turning a simple burglary (with its lower penalties) into a much more dangerous situation (obviously, not the kids' fault--but they're the ones in danger).

If I were home when someone knocked and I did not want to open the door, I would yell something ("George, get the pistol!" or "Go away!"), flash the lights, knock back, or somehow indicate that someone was home--especially if they went to their car and were coming back with a crowbar--before they actually got into the house.

If they come in knowing you're home, use the revolver while he's still halfway through the window--don't wait.

Understanding what really happened here may help you forgive, which is also a consideration, as a desire to have someone killed is bad for one's health. It's important to note how poorly these "journalists" reported this story; as we've seen, they aren't very accurate.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

I do not owe it to burglars...

...to let them know if I'm home or not.

They are not under any entitlement to know my business. If they break in, they do it at their own risk and peril.

Hindsight is 20/20

Yes, he was a cowardly burglar. He could have been a non-cowardly robber, a burglar with an eye for young ladies, a burglar with a mean streak that knows how to deliver a crowbar to the head, a burglar that is not an idiot and carries a gun, etc.

I wouldn't have hid in the closet, probably, but I'm not going to open the door to some stranger who breaks into my home, or let him potentially know to bring a gun along with his crowbar because a lady is alone in there. I think she did the right thing in shooting and I also think it is ok that she deterred him with non-lethal force, since it removed the threat.

It is admirable to not desire vengeance (I agree), but there is no need to blame the *victim* for not telling the burglar they are home, or for choosing a strategic position, etc. It might deter some burglars, but it might escalate to further violence for others. One doesn't know.

When the 2nd amendment was written

When the 2nd amendment was written it gave the average citizen the same "firepower" that the Government had.
Now the Government has much more firepower and they're determined to take away the average citizen's "pea shooter", because no matter what kind of assault weapon you may possess, it still is a "pea shooter" in comparison to what kind of firpower the Government possess.
Also, they will not make any kind of comparison with past history, or recent history...whereas, if those refugees in Eastern Sudan (Darfur) had a "peashooter" those rebels would not have raped, killed, and burned babies alive...Sick, how they can't connect the damn dots.
Don't take my peashooter away.

Someone posted here once that "bikes still work".

In other words, even if the government has a fleet of Ferraris, while bikes are slower and require more effort, they can still get you where you need to go.

In other words, bikes still work.

Criminals Nationwide are Observing

So while the news just focuses on the events and the participants... The moral of the story is that criminals see the true danger of crime in an armed society.

Piers can tally another "gun victim" to his statistics.

.

The 2nd amendment was written for people to protect themselves from tyrannical gvt- no one says a PEEP about that.
NOT ONE PEEP.

"OH NO! He has a SON?" Neoconservatives and Liberals EVERYWHERE!

Fox is Controlled.

There is no doubt. And I'm sure the powers that be recognize the solidarity of America to keep their guns. Fox can pitch for them, then build hate towards democrats when obomb'ya does do his gun law thing.

Sorry, will never trust Fox or any other controlled "news" to be doing anything good for the people of this nation.

They pander to those they

They pander to those they play like the banjo's that they are...This situation just crosses other lines of basic rationality. It's rare, so, savor the flavor.

give that woman a colt

AR-15 with pink furniture for a job well done.

this is why you need to train

this is why you need to train with your weapon. 2 to the chest one to the head.

The question they should be

The question they should be asking on TV is - Should this woman have been allowed to have that gun?

This is the exact question they ask when evil occurs. If asked now, it would point out how ridiculous and evil the anti-gun crowd is.

She's also lucky there was only one man, and he didn't have a gun himself.

She was very lucky to stop

She was very lucky to stop the threat without killing the guy.
And, very lucky she only had one guy to stop and no additional, possibly armed targets.

There's no crying

This is Awesome! Way to go

This is Awesome! Way to go un-named Georgia Mom! 5 out of 6 shots, not bad.

i cant believe i am going to be

agreeing with Lars. First time for everything.

The news spin that went the other way?!?

Honestly, when Meghan starting saying, "There's all this talk about 30 round magazines," I was like "oh shit. Here it comes." Then this guy gets on and says 6 bullets aren't enough!?!

I'm not sure what Fox is trying to do here. I know they're always being deceitful, but what EXACTLY is their M.O. in doing this?

Lima-1, out.

If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

After the guy says

6 bullets aren't enough, Megan says that's a fascinating point. I hadn't really considered that. HELLO anybody home?

hahha

I know, right? Megan is still a paid shill and has to act her part, though.

Lima-1, out.

If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

Still...

Still no mention anywhere on MSM about the San Antonio movie theater shooter stopped by yet another female carrying a personal firearm. I mean hello folks... ANOTHER movie theater shooting? You would think the MSM would be on it like white on rice... but noooooooooooo. That would show once and for all just how those rampages are stopped before the police and their body bags arrive on the scene.

God forgives always. Man forgives sometimes. But Nature never forgives.
