The third segment

Also liked Morgans last quip "you're not my friend" there are the end

Quit Watching....

Seriously, he will keep this up forever because he knows it causes people who don't watch his show to view it.

He is probably enjoying record ratings... quit watching and let him fall off the map on his own.

I don't care how many gun

I don't care how many gun murders there are in Great Britain. If Piers is so impressed, why doesn't he just go back there?

Maybe he would arrested over

Maybe he would arrested over his involvement in the phone hacking scandal :)

They don't want him.

from Wikipedia:

"Morgan was fired as Editor of the Daily Mirror on 14 May 2004 after authorising the newspaper's publication of photographs allegedly showing Iraqi prisoners being abused by British Army soldiers from the Queen's Lancashire Regiment.[17] Within days the photographs were shown to be crude fakes."

Maybe this is what Larry Pratt was referring to in the beginning of the show when pm asked him why he came back on the show and Larry said "To help you sell newspapers."

And, from a U.K. Independent article of 1/10/13, "CNN increasingly twitchy over Piers Morgan's tabloid past as phone hacking scandal spreads to Daily Mirror" :

"But try as he might, the former showbusiness gossip columnist who has reinvented himself as CNN’s main weapon in America’s rating wars has yet to shrug off the miasma of allegations generated by the News of the World phone hacking scandal."

Sorry I'm a little impatient...

Does Ms. Fairchild call Mr. Pratt 'incredibly stupid' anywhere in this interview?

If so, what's the time marker for it?

Chris Indeedski!

Daily Paul cured my abibliophobia.

LOL... no he managed to

LOL... no he managed to refrain himself this time.

That was in the previous interview, a few weeks ago.

Piers was just a little bit more polite this time.

Mr. Pratt

picked up his game this time.

he did

but its much easier to make your points when someone is letting you make you speak. I think after getting his own medicine with AJ he decided to be nice.

I think that Mr. Pratt opened with a shot to slow the roll of Morgan.

Watch his physical response after the 'selling more newspapers' zing.

Referenced UK report?

This may be where Pratt got some of his info about UK's crime stats, although it's a few years old. I'm not sure where 970 count from 2011 comes from yet.

"A Home Office spokesperson said: “These figures are misleading. Levels of police recorded crime statistics from different countries are simply not comparable since they are affected by many factors, for example the recording of violent crime in other countries may not include behaviour that we would categorise as violent crime."

Debbie's picture

I'd say they're close enough - the stats were compiled by the EU

and the UK's own statistics within their own country showed a huge increase:

A breakdown of the statistics, which were compiled into league tables by the Conservatives, revealed that violent crime in the UK had increased from 652,974 offences in 1998 to more than 1.15 million crimes in 2007.

Piers Morgan is Lewis Prothero

Even though Mr. Prothero had more journalistic integrity.

Do you think Piers talks to himself in the shower?

Yes, and he probably says "Larry's not my friend" . . .

Tonight after the show...

Wow what a stunning performance

Larry Pratt is by far the best speaker for refuting gun control. I don't think anyone could of done better.

"You better not compromise yourself. It's all you got."

Larry is definitely good but

Larry is definitely good but Suzzana Hupp might just top him

Did anyone find Larry's numbers ? . . .

was he quoting the total number of all violent crimes (not just gun murders) ? I saw a video post here earlier taken from Fox Reality Check and it said the UK had very high violent crime rates but about 59 gun murders (I'm going by memory). Also the number of people killed by guns is much lower than the 11,000 Morgan keeps quoting. I have never seen any number for gun murders as high as Larry stated. Would appreciate any links on this. Thanks.

From that article . . .

it shows the high rate of violent crime, but not of gun crime. Of course, if people have no guns they are more likely to use other means to murder. And it doesnt matter to the poor victim, which way he or she was done in.
That said, I hope Larry didnt mistate his numbers specifically about gun murders in the UK. That would not be good. If he had replied, as had Alex Jones - that the UK's violent crime rate was the highest in the EU that would have been effective.

Pratt made it clear

I thought Pratt was rather clear about stating that he was talking about murders and didn't distinguish gun murders. A murder is a murder. I'd rather be murdered by a gun than a knife or frying pan or whatever. So, Piers was talking about gun murders.

Piers was upset with Pratt for doing that and tried to talk over his explanation. Yet Piers himself was totally disingenuous in keeping stating England only had 30 some gun murders versus 11,000 something. OMG! You really can't compare them like that since our population is so much bigger. Yes, I know our rate is still higher but it sure wouldn't sound as high if properly stated!! Also, you have to consider murder rates really (as Pratt attempted to do) and changes, etc. Nobody gives the entire story.

quite right

The stats from the article show two flubs: 927 *murders* (not gun murders) in *2007* (not 2011).

"The UK had a greater number of murders in 2007 than any other EU country – 927 – and at a relative rate higher than most western European neighbours, including France, Germany, Italy and Spain."

He's gonna get taken to the woodshed on this. Sad, because he could have had someone send him the article in the break. And what he mentioned needs constant repeating: the question is not the current and past statistics, the question is one of obeying the law (2nd Amendment) and giving people the chance to protect themselves.

Can guns be used to kill people? Yes. And more often than not (if you look at the statistics I have seen of when guns are used), that's a *good* thing.

Debbie's picture

He did say their crime rate was the highest, and he did not say

his numbers were gun murders, just that they were murder statistics.

Well actually . . .

Morgan asked Larry to repeat his statement on gun murders and he did say the 900+ figure was gun murders and then later he said that it didnt matter what method was used for the murders. (Remember when Morgan asked if Larry's figure was 10x naught whatever the heck Brit jargon he used, more than the sub 100 number that Morgan used ?)
If Larry mis-spoke, Morgan will be all over it tomorrow on the show and in interviews.

In any case, that ass Morgan is getting a ratings boost. (I liked how Larry made a crack about that.)

thx you

Debbie's picture

It was awesome that they showed the 2nd Amendment on screen

saying "the people" while pm was saying it only applies to the militia . .
