Glenn Beck Relaunching The Blaze As Global Libertarian News Network

BuzzFeed: Glenn Beck announced plans Tuesday during his online television program to expand the news operation in his media company, The Blaze, and refocus it as a libertarian network, opening three foreign bureaus, debuting a nightly news magazine show, and relocating his New York staff to showy new offices.

Beck introduced his ambitious plans by standing in front of a split screen with MSNBC's Chris Matthews on one side and Fox News's Sean Hannity on the other, and bemoaning the fact that cable news has devolved into the "far left [and] far right... yelling at each other."

"We're not gonna play in that crazy space as a network," he said, adding, "I consider myself a libertarian... I'm a lot closer to Penn Jillette than I am to Chuck Hagel."

Haha, Glenn Beck is Alex Jones delayed by 2-4 years...

All those who hate Alex Jones, get ready: Glenn Beck is going to partially become the new face of libertarianism whether you like it or not.

Ron Paul is the face of libertarianism no matter if he is running or not. Alex Jones has a show that wakes people up and sends them towards libertarianism, and Glen Beck is apparently going to have a network that tries to do the same, but will probably fail. Neither Alex or Glenn are the face of libertarianism.

Glenn Beck calling himself libertarian is an insult

to real libertarians.

If Glenn Beck Is A Libertarian

Then Romney is the next ron paul....

Seems to me, Beck bashed Ron Paul ...

... during the elections, and especially Ron Paul supporters.

I don't think Beck knows what a libertarian is, or he does and is trying to discredit libertarianism.

Having said that ...

To the extent more sheeple hear that there is at least SOME alternative viewpoint to left/right, that is a GOOD thing in the overall scheme of things.

I think Glenn Beck is as much controlled opposition as anything -- BUT BUT BUT ...

I also think it's true that the establishment mentality has NO CLUE what limited government ideas are all about (they cannot comprehend non-rule) ... and so they end up being useful idiots. They present our ideas ... do so incorrectly ... and yet are useful to us in waking up people to the idea that there ARE IN FACT other ways of looking at the world.

And if I'm wrong ... then even BETTER because that means we have a true national voice in Beck.

Maybe Beck has had a slow awakening himself, just as many of us have.

It's just that I'm a bit ... skeptical.

Either way, it COULD be a good thing. We just have to view him as POTENTIAL controlled opposition, and call him out when necessary.

They saw the response to Alex's declaration

and shit their, already crusty, NWO silk panties.

Discusttin triky dog

Oh Great

This scum now sees what he thinks is a niche market he can exploit. Now we'll have to put up with people thinking he represents libertarianism the same way the mainstream thought Bush was an example of a limited government conservative. Maybe his tears will be for real this time when he tries to cross the bridge he burned long ago and falls on his fat narcissistic ass. The only people here buying into his crap are the same ones who probably even now think Jesse Benton juuuuuuust 'might possibly' be a tad bit shady. lol

I smell a co opt attempt in the works.

I don't trust Glen Beck one bit.

Seems to me that the system (and the GOP, in particular) REALLY wants to coopt the liberty movement, just so long as we all support the Pentagon as some beacon for securing liberty at home and promoting it abroad. I fear that Beck wants to become Rand Pauls most outspoken supporter heading into 2016- im sure hes pleased by the Senators recent sucking-up to the Israel first crowd.

Same the same way they co-opted the tea party

could be a good thing....

Has Glenn Beck seen the light? Or just realized LIBERTY has a big future in this country? I DON'T CARE if he's a neolibertarian, welcome to our side Glenn. We have some things to teach you, grasshopper...

Big plans for Beck

would include figuring out how to pick his nose.

If not us than who?

trying to figure out what a Libertarian really is...

Beck is one

of the few people that I actually despise! His treatment of Deb Medina, all the while he had voiced similar misgivings, proves he is NOT someone to be trusted--he is someone that people 'should not believe a word that comes out of his mouth', imo!

The Hypocrisy of Glenn Beck (addresses the Medina issue):

Libertarian Beck is NOT!

Thanks for sharing this, cajuncocoa. I think the downvotes are about Beck, not you!! :)

How humble of him

To name GLNN after himself.

He's about as libertarian as

He's about as libertarian as mitt romney. Lowlife scumbag.

Fox News is hardly "far right."

Glenn Beck seems to be under the impression that libertarianism is somehow a moderate ideology. Sadly, there are hundreds of thousands of "libertarians" out there who think the same. Btw, bashing Beck for drinking the cool-aid on Iran, not endorsing Ron Paul, and bashing Alex Jones and Truthers isn't going to win Ron Paul supporters any friends. Beck may be an egomaniac and ignorant, but, a lot of his fans are potential allies of ours.

Beck is saying implying that libertarians

are in the middle between the left and the right? This clearly indicates he doesn't have a clue. The left is actually way far left, while the right is actually far left, and libertarians are on the right.

Watch and understand the left-right paradigm...you won't be disappointed...and then forward:

I am Ron Paul.

Yeah, that's what

I was saying.

Yes. The 'real' political spectrum

really hit home with me.

We're incorrectly taught and told over and over again that Fascism is a right-wing ideology, when in fact it's more closely related to Communism and Socialism on the far left.

Libertarians come in at the far right just behind Anarchism.

Apologize to Ron Paul

and admit you know nothing Glenn, admit that you are just another tool, and apologize to Nicola Tesla about all your Edison crap, then maybe I'll give your program a watch, in about 1000 years.

Its too late for apologies.

Its too late for apologies. Further, would you actually believe this scumbag if he did apologize? After what he did?

Just chill

I can't stand Beck trust me. But some of your Libertarians need to at least listen and see what truth can be found and spit out the rest.

Y'all are so good at burning bridges. If you want to grow you need to start meeting people where they are at and seeing how you can work with it. Listening to Beck sometimes doesn't mean you are endorsing everything he believes. You should at least familiarize yourself with what is out there.

I respect your opinion but I disagree

Beck is "hijacking" (lack of a better word) a movement that doesn't really have a name anymore because it has been hijacked before. People are now calling themselves "tea partiers" under the butchered definition created by Glenn Beck, not by how it started out.

He is now starting the process of butchering & redefining what "libertarian" means.

Like all radio hosts

he isn't hijacking he is earning a living.

Take it for what it is. I don't like it but its out there.

So I say hijack back and use that as in inroads to have conversations with people. For instance Beck might bring up an important topic but not have a "pure" policy on it. At least the topic is being discussed and when you have conversations with people that have heard Beck help set the record straight.
