The Quickest Way for a Government to Lose Credibility and Control

The quickest way for a government to lose credibility and control is to begin passing laws that will not be followed. Doing so - inevitably - precipitates a predictable chain of events.

The first step is widespread non-compliance with the unjust laws. Second comes attempts by the overreaching government to enforce their will at the point of a sword - in the process needlessly murdering civilians through witch-hunting tactics and executions. Third, the hearts and the minds of the remaining population that once supported the regime are lost once the true nature of the beast is revealed. The productivity of the society becomes decimated leaving no fruits for the government to pillage. Then, the fanciful dreams of the dictators to rule their dreamt of utopia are revealed to be an unrealizable fantasy as they witness the ruin that they have brought to the land. Through survival of the imposed hard times, people once again learn what it means to be self-sufficient and free. Eventually - long after the dictator is gone - productivity returns through the actions of individuals seeking to improve their own situations. Freedom and prosperity once again rear their heads.

The only way to avoid this fate is for the government to have respect for the rule of law and stay within its bounds.

Just as kings were not sanctioned by gods to do as they pleased, neither are "representative" governments sanctioned to do what they wish and claim, like Nixon - "Well, when the president does it, that means that it is not illegal." Those are the words of a tyrant.

Tyrant - a sovereign or other ruler who uses power oppressively or unjustly

Dictates in opposition to established law are unjust and - by definition - acts of a tyrant.

End the Governments monopoly on force.

"The only way to avoid this fate is for the government to have respect for the rule of law and stay within its bounds."

This is not correct, governments have a monopoly on force and this is the problem. It was only a matter of time before constitutional American became fascist America. The one thing the founding fathers did wrong in 1776 and needs to be corrected is that they allowed the government to exist.

Local private independent competitive security agencies are the answer. Citizens need to keep guns or have an agency of their choosing protect them against criminals, namely people seeking power over them.

Positive action

We hear what's wrong with the government by an almost limitless number of complainers, but seldom any personal actions/solutions. Also known as "preaching to the choir".

Here's an historically correct solution: Jury nullification of unjust laws. Many "laws" are in place as revenue generators - they are "crimes" against the state. The key: No victim = NO CRIME, and no conviction.

Fully Informed Jury Association(FIJA): www.fija.org

"The primary function of the independent juror is not, as many think,
to dispense punishment to fellow citizens accused of breaking various laws, but rather to protect fellow citizens from the tyrannical abuses of power by government."

The Constitution guarantees you the right to trial by jury. This means that government must bring its case before a jury of The People if government wants to deprive any person of life, liberty, or property. Jurors can say no to government tyranny by refusing to convict."

The federal government long ago lost credibility.

The war on drugs is widely disregarded. The EPA is held in contempt by many as is the FDA. Who respects the IRS and who hasn't fudged on his tax return? Countless citizens have arranged their financial affairs so they can get by without even filing returns. Political bribery is rampant, only it masquerades as political contributions, book deals, revolving door high paid jobs, or some other perk. Police have for ever taken bribes to ignore vices. Military spending is well understood to be wasteful. And look at the failed rescue operations like Katrina and now Sandy. Look at the poor success rate in public schools. Who, but little old ladies, drives the speed limit?

Only the politicians, bureaucrats and the simple minded have any respect for government. Fear of, yes, respect for, no.

"Bend over and grab your ankles" should be etched in stone at the entrance to every government building and every government office.

I have been telling people

I have been telling people for thirty years that things will have to get much worse before they get better.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

the only way...

The only way to avoid this fate is for the government to have respect for the rule of law and stay within its bounds...

This implies some willful act of government to restrain itself. Government is basically just a collection of people who like controlling other people. Good luck with that.

I would phrase it more like "when the people respect the rule of law and restrain the government within its bounds".

but I agree with you. this is the cycle of history. We seem doomed to repeat it.

Interesting you phrase it that way

Because the very same phraseology is used in the traffic laws. The traffic law writers believed that the speed limits should reflect the prevailing speeds on the road and that is why they are required to conduct "traffic surveys" in order to determine if the speeds posted fall in line with the speeds at which drivers actually travel.

"the hearts and the minds of the remaining population that once supported the regime are lost once the true nature of the beast is revealed"!, we are entering this RARE stage, even without them enforcing,

keep pushing for this stage, the masses are starting to question what's going on, TPTB are being watched and are getting desperate, keep fanning the flames of liberty

You're a fabulous writer, dw.

Keep it up!

I appreciate it dducks.

Most likely a good speaker

Most likely a good speaker too? When are you going to run for office? Gives us a heads up so we can prepare a money bomb!

I'll give it some thought...

Banker World: Credibility is credit worthy. Control by is debt.

Quickest way tain't no matter. Once credit is established by the flick of a pen, credit appears to all that seem willing to pay... And keep on paying...

In the world as bankers know it, where even those claiming rights to billions & billions of dollars... are deep in debt... where does all this "legal tender" grow? Does money grow on trees? Paper seems to come from trees. Maybe credit comes from trees as well. No telling...

Very good

In the end, they have to reverse the unjust laws if they wish to stay in power.

While that is currently underway with the rollback of laws outlawing marijuana (a plant), there is a whole new and bigger edifice taking its place: Obamacare.

Thank you for the analysis.

To be mean is never excusable, but there is some merit in knowing that one is; the most irreparable of vices is to do evil out of stupidity. - C.B.

Taxation without representation

Is what Obamacare means to me.

I just hope there ARE actually well-intentioned people...

that may listen and are in a position to affect change. Dr. Paul has on more than one occasion said that there are well-intentioned people on the Hill. I hope he was right.

You're welcome, and thank you for the comment and for providing a forum for me and others to voice our opinions.

although without philosophical and political advances, why endlessly repeat a tragic cycle?

Instead I promote dignifying the prerogative of individual choice concerning public domain, while reserving the right to withdraw from institutional abuse (including all taxation)

Right on.

Greed, ego, lust for power and money = tyranny
