Just Happened Today In My Area: Armed Homeowner Deters Home Invasion By Armed Thugs

Bloxom, VA- According to Sheriff Todd Godwin, on January 11, 2013, at approximately 9:48 AM, the Accomack County Sheriffs Office received a report of a breaking and entering to an occupied residence on Mason Road near Bloxom. Upon the arrival of deputies, it was determined that two suspects dressed in dark clothing were involved in this incident and that they had forced entry into the residence. The homeowner confronted one of the suspects inside the residence and both suspects then fled on foot into a nearby wooded area. During this incident, gunshots were exchanged between the homeowner and the suspects with no report of injuries at this time.

A perimeter was established and a thorough search of the area was conducted utilizing K-9 units as well as by aircraft with assistance from the Virginia Marine Police and Maryland State Police. At this time, the suspects have not been located.

Assisting in this incident were personnel from the Virginia State Police, Maryland State Police, Virginia Marine Police, Bloxom Police Department, Parksley Police Department and the Onley Police Department.
