(Reuters) - Influenza has officially reached epidemic proportions in the United States, with 7.3 percent of deaths last week caused by pneumonia and the flu, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Friday.
The early start and fast spread of flu this season - especially after 2011-2012's very mild outbreak - has overwhelmed doctors' offices and hospitals, forcing some patients to wait through the night to be seen in emergency departments.
Nine of the 10 U.S. regions had "elevated" flu activity last week, confirming that seasonal flu has spread across the country and reached high levels several weeks before the usual late January or February, CDC reported.
Only one region - the Southwest and California - had "normal" flu activity last week.

for almost two weeks. And then guess what...it went away, and he has congestive heart failure as well as type 2 diabetes and has been short 1 leg since that mortar round landed over there.hmmm
Its a distraction from the masses to keep us busy from the real
problem, Don't fall for this anymore, they are taking heavy damage from the gun control debate and they need something to win or make themselves look good, open your eyes

Never be afraid to ask simple questions.

...and wear gloves or carry a paper to open public doors. Keep fingers away from mouth and if at all possible avoid public keyboards imo ie pay cash. Stay away from food courts too till things get healthier. This is what I strive to do.

Both my parents never get the flu shot and never get the common cold. However, they both currently have the flu!
I think it's inevitable that I'll catch it from them. But I'm trying everything to prevent that from happening.
I normally take vit D 5K units/day. This week I'm doubling the dose! I just started taking Zinc cough drops and other cough drops containing Vit C w/ echinacea. And I'm taking Vit C 500mg every day. Hopefully these preventative measures work.
I'll keep you guys posted.

I just find it odd that my folks got sick. They never get sick let alone something as severe as the flu. ...just sharing. And I think there is a nasty bug going around. So be well and wash your hands often.

We're facing the world with a weakened immune system it's leaving a trail of sickness.
Those that got the seasonal vaccines are endangering the rest of us by spreading the flu far and wide.

if something is to be considered an epidemic, you yourself may not have to experience it (what ever is labeled "epidemic") first hand, but you should at least know someone who has.
With that being said, the only "epidemic" I see is mass unemployment, and a loss in confidence of our elected officials.

They vaccinated us with the wrong vaccine for this years flu.
So all we know is that last year's vaccine was not effective against this year flue.
There is no clinical scientific proof that these vaccines are effective at all. Faith-based science is a fraud.
